Granite jams his last 8 Bigs (around 50,000) with K-9 & Thoich does that latter-day thing where they casually throw a single chip in to signify "call". He has 10-10 & it comes A-4-4-6-Q, so we lose Granite, which also means we will have a different winner this year.
About 70% of all hands in this Final have been between GSmith & RexRegina, & honours were about even though GSmith had 50% more chips.
It just kicked off though, the lot went in pre, & neither, given the dynamic, could fold, GSmith had A-J & RexRegina was 2 spots behind.
A crucial 9 flopped & suddenly we have a new chip leader, north of 250,000, in Rex Regina, with GSmith down to around half that, in effect their stacks have flip-flopped.
It's been quite something to watch these two lock horns all final, eye-watering stuff.
I'm struggling to come up with a RexRegina pun, but students of Latin ought to be able to come up with something given that poker contains Kings, Queens & Royals.
Big v Big, this time GSmith with A-K ss & BlairReid with A-Q.
Both of them flop their kicker, but it's an all spade flop so Smithy is in great shape, & another spade on the turn seals it & in fact gives him a Royal draw, which is ruined by the rivered Ace.
That leaves Blair with some 50,000, which will be 6 Bigs when they return from break at 4,000-8,000/8,000.
GSmith, meanwhile, is right back in it with 250,000 or so, & so we can expect the Smith-Regina battle to resume post-break.
He had 50,000 but has jammed every hand since his accident & not been looked up yet. With 20,000 of dead money in the middle each time, he's clawing his way back into this.
In a very odd spot, GSmith button limped (not a typo), Thoich jammed, Rex called or jammed (not sure which) then Smith folded. Not sure what the limp was about, but he clearly had a plan.
Thoich had the most respectable Jacks, but Rex had the moster respectabler Aces, & we saw a drama free double paired run out.
So that's tata Thoich, & Rex consolidates his chip lead.
Comments
It's nip & tuck for the chip lead, GSmith & BlairReid both seem to have identical stacks of about 220,000.
Thoich jams his last ~50,000 with 5-5 & RexRegina playing around 90,000 quickly looks him up with the A-Q.
Rex flopped his Q, but Thoich had doored his 5 so that was pretty much that.
Thoich gets a full 2Xup, & Rex, who has been almost as busy as GSmith will be even busier now.
GSmith is ridic, can't recall many hands in the Final he has not raised, & he has the bottle to follow through when he senses weakness.
The two (current) shorties, both with ~10 Bigs, are Granite & RexRegina.
9th = Donttelmum, $1,500
8th = FeelGroggy, $1,800
7th = JTDiamond, $2,200
6th = Wacko90, $2,600
5th - Granite89, $3,100

Meanwhile, my 3rd & last Laptop of the day is down to 25% remaining which is less than an hour.
Hurry up lads, please.
Gl lads.

Have to say, this has been a great final so far.
Yay, just found a compatible charger lead so we might just be able to Update all the way now.
What a pain with these Laptops, no photos, & Mobiles being "Access Denied", but we've hung in there somehow.
Approx chip counts;
Rex 270,000
GSmith 250,000
Thoich 170,000
Blair - Dust.
In a new one on me, the BB ante (8,000) is halved to 4,000 as we are 4 handed.
Blair on the tear.
He had 50,000 but has jammed every hand since his accident & not been looked up yet. With 20,000 of dead money in the middle each time, he's clawing his way back into this.
And of that's not a bok I'll be most surprised.
The BlairReid Allinathon continues, & he's now north of 150,000, meaning Thoich is the new shortie on the block.
In a very odd spot, GSmith button limped (not a typo), Thoich jammed, Rex called or jammed (not sure which) then Smith folded. Not sure what the limp was about, but he clearly had a plan.
