Sky Crime are showing an update of this. Cant find a trailer. Murder in the Valleys.
Watched the first episode yesterday and South Wales Police don't seem to have a very good reputation. Looking forward to the rest of this story as I don't recall it at the time.
Series 2 started yesterday. All 6 episodes are available to download, as is the whole of series 1. I enjoyed series 1. Good cast includes Martin Compston
Thanks for the tip re free Amazon trial and Bosch, @HAYSIE
Really enjoying them. As someone who read the books first, they have been as good as I hoped.
Biggest plus point-the casting. Helps when the author is the Executive Producer. Bosch himself is different to how I imagined-a little too East Coast. But-much like Tom Cruise as Reacher-sheer class as an Actor makes up for that. Rest are remarkably similar to how I imagined them.
One minor niggle. Most episodes have a minute or 2 filmed in near total darkness, like so many US productions. Brilliant.
Most of The Wire cast ended up in Treme.
Have to agree here. However a related question in the same vein. What on earth possessed Lee Child to allow Hollywood's smallest actor to portray Jack Reacher who is 6 foot 5 and 250 lbs.
I refused to watch the second film "Never go back" after the glaring anomalies of the first.
As someone who has read and re read all, 25 to date, Jack Reacher books and yes I'm such a fan that this would be my specialist "Mastermind" subject, this is one franchise that fails to transition to the big screen with any real conviction.
Sorry to bump this now but only just got around to watching. As an avid fan I was really afraid that this, like the films would be a hatchet job, but.......
Yes, yes, yes absolutely loved this series.
Finally someone who not only carries off Reachers physical presence but also conveys all that is quintesentially Reachers mental approach to life.
Frances Neagley was also played to a tee and the storyline stuck pretty faithfully to the book.
Was concerned that using a different director for each episode may lead to failings but absolutely not.
Is it that this series, based on "The Kiiling Floor", the first Jack Reacher novel, will allow for another 24 or so. This won't be easy as they are not written in a chronological way, some return to Reachers army days for example, but hey it's Hollywood right.
Really, really happy and binged it in one session. Cruise eat your heart out.
61 Hours, Bad Luck and Trouble, The Enemy, The Affair, The Hard Way, Gone Tomorrow or Echo Burning, all my favourites, would all be superb adaptions if they follow the same structure.
Sorry to come across as a bit of a Reacher Geek but hey if the cap fits.

Agree with almost all of this.
It was surprisingly faithful to the book, and was marvellous. Nearly as good as Bosch-and there doesn't come better than that.
I know Cruise was about 3 foot too short but, for me, he pulled it off in the films. Even so, I slightly preferred this TV version.
There are a lot of really good books. Although most of the last 10 or so have been quite disappointing.

Yes. And I was waiting for him, and my wife still beat me to it

The last 5 have been absolute rubbish to be honest. So much so that I did not buy The Sentinel, written mainly by his Son.
I feel that Reacher should have ridden off into the sunset, finally with a woman and just settled down.

Its his brother. I stopped reading them. Although I have relented, and ordered the new one, due out in October.
The gripping new Jack Reacher thriller from the number one best-selling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child.
Gerrardsville, Colorado. One tragic event. Two witnesses. Two conflicting accounts. One witness sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus - clearly suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. And he sees what really happened - a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away.
Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that this was no random act of violence. It is part of something much bigger...a sinister, secret conspiracy, with powerful people on the take, enmeshed in an elaborate plot that leaves no room for error. If any step is compromised, the threat will have to be quickly and permanently removed.
But when the threat is Reacher, there is no plan B....
