While some fans have enjoyed the latest run of episodes, many BBC viewers took to Twitter to complain about the recent storylines.
Andrew Jazzie posted: "There are some of us who've stuck with Silent Witness for over 25 years and over 220 episodes.
"We might all be a bit daft and should have given up years ago but we don't really deserve the abomination that Silent Witness has become. It is absolutely ridiculous."
Dave asked fellow fans: "Why am I still persevering with Silent Witness?
"The scripts and stories are ridiculous, the dialogue is pathetic and some of the acting is worse than amateur. This used to be a great show. It's shocking bad now."
Michelle exclaimed: "I have never missed an episode of #SilentWitness but I'm so disappointed with this series. I'm so cross that the BBC could let down the loyal viewers like this."
Graeme Meldrum added: "As someone who has been a fan of #SilentWitness for years and years, it gives me no pleasure at all to say S26 has been absolutely dreadful. Toe-curlingly bad. Shame."
Maria Sheehy continued: "#SilentWitness @BBC so disappointed. Every series gets worse. And why bring in new characters with poor scripts, terrible acting and no real reason for them to be there. Absolute rubbish."
Unforgotten series 5 release date revealed - and it's sooner than you think
When is Unforgotten series five out? Unforgotten series five is out very soon! ITV have yet to confirm a specific date, however, it's been revealed that the new episodes will land on ITV1 and ITVX in February, so it's only a matter of days away, folks!
Netflix has released the official trailer for the highly-anticipated Luther: The Fallen Sun, starring Idris Elba. It will arrive in select cinemas on 24 February, followed by a Netflix release on 10 March. Netflix also shared brand new images of Idris, back once again as DCI John Luther, who was last seen being sent to prison in the dramatic BBC series finale.
I was watching this yesterday. When the credits came up, I noticed one of the Executive Producers was Eddie Shoestring. Waking The Dead, was one of my favourite programmes of the time.
I liked him both as "Billy Bootlace" in Shoestring, and Shouty Man in Waking the Dead, Unforgotten etc.
He has produced a lot, from fairly major films to the excellent The Body Farm
I was a big fan. I watched Waking The Dead, again, from start to finish not so long ago. Getting old means your memory doesnt work so well. So watching some of the terrific older stuff makes more sense than watching some of the sh1t they turn out these days. I re-watched The Dry yesterday, which I enjoyed again. I have spent all day today watching Defending Jacob. I have read the book. I have also watched it before. Its a terrific story. If you get the opportunity to watch one programme on Apple, that is the one.
I watched this yesterday. Luckily I noticed that episode 5 was missing on Sky. So I watched it on the iplayer. Worth a watch. I read the book years ago. One of the claims made in the book that was missing from the drama, was that the transit van they took was so old, and the gold so heavy, that 2 of the 3 guys had to get out of the van and walk, because it was travelling so slowly.
