The message is far too vague, a politician cannot be seen to be making a mistake so it's "political speak".

Philip Schofield did a good job on Matt Hancock (pun attempted) on this very issue.

Would this be better handled by local governments? Although I am not a fan of my local rep what is the solution?

    Car sharing advice:
    The DfT guidance says:
People from different households will be able to car share under new government lockdown advice - but will have to keep the windows open and not look at each other.
The guidance also says that wearing a face mask could be “marginally beneficial”.

The Tube is a 'suicide mission', complain commuters: Precious few masks in sight despite Sadiq Khan's instructions as thousands more commuters pack onto London Underground with NO extra trains

Thousands of people waited this morning for buses and tubes in the capital after the Prime Minister's speech on Sunday urging people to return to work if they can do so safely. But very few people were heeding the advice released by London Mayor Sadiq Khan yesterday which asked commuters to wear face masks. The guidance also suggested that Londoners should carry hand sanitiser, and that the tube will only be able to carry 13 - 15 per cent of passengers. However commuters have criticised the London Mayor for the lack of social distancing in place, and have also railed against the amount of tubes running. Twitter user Adeleye said: @BorisJohnson @SadiqKhan commute this morning is like a suicide mission, no social distancing, all cramped coaches on tubes, yet you still say stay alert, control the virus.'

Matt Hancock is blasted by UK statistics chief over his 100,000-per-day testing target and daily updates saying they have 'limited detail' and need improvement to increase 'trustworthiness' with the public

NEW The Health Secretary was told to take steps to improve the 'trustworthiness' of his daily updates by Sir David Norgrove, chairman of the UK Statistics Authority.

This 100,000 has been banded about for a fair bit. Has the target been met?

Nicola Sturgeon BANS Boris Johnson's Stay Alert slogan in Scotland as his lockdown exit road map descends into shambles with the First Minister again warning that mixed messages will cost lives

The First Minister said she would ignore the Prime Minister's much-criticised new 'Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Lives' slogan in favour of the previous 'Stay Home' message. It was the latest sign that Mr Johnson's attempt to keep the four nations of the United Kingdom in sync over coronavirus was in danger of breaking down. Grilled by Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain today (pictured) , Ms Sturgeon countered suggestions by Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab that people would be allowed to see their parents living elsewhere as long as they stayed two metres apart. She said: 'That is not the situation in Scotland. The situation in Scotland, apart from that one change around exercise, hasn't changed.'

I think that the blatantly obvious point that you cant get away from is that the lockdown rules have limited the spread of the virus.
Doesn't it therefore follow, that any relaxation of these rules will increase the spread.
It seems impossible to see how social distancing is possible when using public transport in many parts of the country.
They plan to impose isolation on travellers from abroad, as well as returning Brits, with no way to police this.
It is difficult to imagine really young children appreciating the importance, and sticking to all the measures.
There was a guy in South Korea the other day that had single handedly infected 15 other people in 3 night clubs, on one night out.
They were able to establish this via their tracking app, we currently couldn't.
British Airways are currently flying people all over the shop.
Mexico looks likes the next disaster.
It doesn't seem possible to relax the lockdown without putting peoples lives at risk.
Although minimising the damage to the economy is likely to take precedence.

Anger as Priti Patel says NHS fees paid by foreign health staff must stay, just three weeks after announcing ‘review’
Exclusive: Home Office admits there was no reassessment – despite home secretary promising it on national television

Priti Patel has sparked anger by refusing to cut or axe the huge fees paid by foreign healthcare workers to help fund the NHS – just three weeks after promising to “review” the controversial charges.
The home secretary raised expectations when she hinted at concessions for migrants working in the NHS themselves, as she praised their “extraordinary contribution” during the Covid-19 crisis.

But The Independent has now learnt there will be no changes to what ministers consider the “important” principle that everyone coming to work in the UK contributes extra for the NHS.

It means the immigration health surcharge is still due to soar from £400 a year to £624 from this October – to be and extended to all EU citizens from next January, when Brexit is completed.

Because it is also paid by spouses and children, the total cost can reach a crippling £8,000 for a family of four on a five-year work permit, or with limited leave to remain in the UK.

Patel probe condemned as secretive and biased after ‘cleared’ claim
The Home Office is now saying there was no “review”, beyond waiving the surcharge where visas had been extended for one year – despite Ms Patel describing it as such on national television.

The other problem is we know all that YET this weekend one family will still go to the coast thinking, well we are just one family so it won’t matter if we just pop down to the seaside...fundamentally the self centred will endanger us all

We should have had a consistent policy across the UK....Tw at Hancock said yesterday “ follow the rules..” There are no rules stopping families from going where they want in England, are there ?

Oh apart from the unwritten rule of common bleedin sense

The Governments approval rating has slipped from plus 42% at the end of March, to minus 3% by last week.
    A surprise?
    Not to me.

Tory politicians, including Boris, can catch the virus with impunity, while the general public get fined for breaching the social distancing rules.

How do you catch the virus, without breaching the rules?

Tory Ministers, including Boris, can use their holiday homes with impunity, while senior advisers resign, when caught doing the same thing.

I am not sure whether acting in this way is down to their arrogance, or stupidity.

I don't think the electorate will forgive them for their handling of this crisis any time soon.

It is wonderful to see Keir Starmer battering Boris at PMQs.

It looks like he has some uncomfortable times to come.

'Who's in charge of this plan. Is it you?' Boris Johnson and UK's most senior civil servant Sir Mark Sedwill clash over route out of lockdown - as one adviser calls travel quarantine planning a 'sh**show'

NEW Boris Johnson and the UK's top civil servant Sir Mark Sedwill clashed over who is responsible for rolling out the Government's lockdown exit strategy, it was claimed today. The Prime Minister and Sir Mark are said to have had a 'tense' standoff when the plans to ease restrictions were being discussed at a meeting last week. Mr Johnson apparently asked the room who was responsible for actually implementing the measures contained within the blueprint. He asked Sir Mark if it was him, but the head of the Civil Service replied it was up to the PM to make sure things happen. The claims came amid reports of growing splits between ministers and senior civil servants. Mandarins fear they are being lined as coronavirus 'fall guys' ahead of an inevitable public inquiry into the Government's handling of the crisis. Meanwhile, a plan to quarantine travellers returning to the UK has prompted a Cabinet split over who it should apply to with aides concerned it is rapidly becoming a 'sh**show'.
