The press are really going for the youth on this. Not sure if they are mainly to blame however scapegoats will be a welcome distraction. Sure it's not as straight-forward as blaming one demograph for the issues however.
Oxford and AstraZeneca's COVID vaccine trial is put on HOLD for safety reasons after a British volunteer had a 'serious' reaction that could have been caused by injection
On Tuesday, trials of thee COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca have been placed on a hold after a suspected dangerously bad reaction to the shot.
"Cabinet at war over the rule of six" is the Daily Mail's headline as it reports growing Conservative unrest over the new coronavirus restrictions. It suggests that almost every minister in the coronavirus strategy committee argued against the limit, but that Health Secretary Matt Hancock had "got his way". The Daily Telegraph's front page claims senior figures are demanding that England follows Scotland's example, exempting children from the tally. "Boris hit for six by Nicola" is the Metro's headline. The paper says Ms Sturgeon's decision not to count under-12s has increased pressure on the PM to rethink. "Save Christmas or be labelled the Grinch" is the demand of Tory MPs, according to the Sun. The paper agrees, labelling the rule of six a "needless disaster" that must be reconsidered.
Testing is a shambles, more and more local lock-downs are on the way but blustering Boris Johnson claims that if we all behave ourselves and 'flatten the second hump of the camel' he will 'save Christmas' (it's a dromedary by the way)
Boris Johnson (pictured right) has begged the public to keep faith with his draconian rules despite the testing system descending into a shambles, with fears schools and offices will have to shut because people with mild symptoms cannot prove they are negative (pictured left, queues at a testing site in Southend). Amid bitter clashes between experts over the best way to respond to the spike in Covid cases, the North East is the latest area facing new curbs, including forcing pubs to shut at 10pm and a ban on households socialising with anyone else. In London, public health chiefs have warned of looming curfews, while ministers have hinted that the edict for everyone to work from home could be reinstated soon if infections do not come back under control. The new rules for the North East are expected to come into force just after midnight after a dramatic rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the area. In an interview with The Sun justifying his agenda, Mr Johnson emphasised that social restrictions, localised lockdowns, and a 'ramped up' testing were being used in a bid to prevent a second wave. He warned: 'The only way to make sure the country is able to enjoy Christmas is to be tough now.'
