I have covered this in other threads in the very simplified shortened version I was bullied in school when I was ten and an english teacher wanted to be popular with other students so joined in with them. He was a mad southampton fan so I booed southampton as a release back then because I knew if southampton lost he would be sad.
However students in school picked on me for this because they said southampton was the only premiership team the south had. Then that made me hate southampton more and boo them more and then it became a repetitive cycle until it just became my thing to boo southampton and eventually it just became I have booed them from a young age like many people support a team because they have from a young age.

I dont know why you bring religion into it, the Abrahamic god is the most evil character in all of fiction. In fact I will go further there has never been an individual in reality or all of fiction ever known to earth that has been more evil then the Abrahamic god.
I am sure there are many decent and many evil people that follow the Abrahamic faiths just as there are many decent and many evil people that follow other faiths or are atheists etc. However the Abrahamic faiths are certainly not a good basis for morality so expecting their adherents to uphold a higher standard is beyond moronic.
The Abrahamic God is I assume the God of the Old Testament. Guess what he is the same God of the New Testament.
Difference was he originally punished those who turned away or denied him. However, wanting to have a relationship and end separation with his people he sent Christ to pay the debt of sin on behalf of all.
Same God, same Creator, same judgement.
I know there are many who don't hold with God and that's your choice and I'll defend to the death your right to make that choice. just don't confuse the issue with misleading statements.
