I wish that Northern Ireland had the same calibre of people now that they did then. People on both sides of the Divide renounced violence and actively sought compromise with their former enemies. Now? Sadly, back to posturing and point-scoring. But, as you rightly say, still better than it once was.

Meanwhile, any sensible person can see that, for there to be progress in the Middle East, there needs to be similar levels of compromise on both sides. As a start, the need to accept that both sides can coexist, and that each has a right to be there.

Something that is really not helped by our PM saying that he wants to ensure Israel "win", and then just do nothing while Benjamin Netanyahu paints a picture of murderers on 1 side and people seeking peace on the other.

This is real life. Not a comic book. There's not just "goodies" on 1 side, and "baddies" on the other.

so there are some things which should be said here which has not be said yet.

Firstly there is a peculiarity in this conflict that I have not noticed anyone comment on. That is one side wants as much suffering and death as possible and the other side wants as little of this as possible.

and yet the forum seem to be almost unanimously on the side that wants as much death and suffering as possible.

Hamas love to torture and kill and make the suffering of anyone on the Israeli side as bad as possible they will delight in torturing a 6 year old girl and causing as much pain as possible. If Israelis die and suffer fantastic the more the better for Hamas. here is the thing though if Palestinians die that is also absolutely awesome amazing for Hamas because now they can use this as negative PR against Israel.

if by whatever means accident deliberate from either side natural disaster or whatever 30,000 Palestinians died Hamas would dancing with jubiliation not mourning they may mourn publicly but it would just be for show.

yet Israel is blamed and shamed for any deaths even their own. If somehow Hamas did the unthinkable and managed to gain access to israeli Nukes and managed to nuke Israel most on here would line up to condemn Israel.

Israel want as little suffering and causalities on both sides they dont want to see their own people suffer, and they dont want Palestinian casualities. The latter is potentially simply because it makes negative PR but at least they dont want this Hamas does.

you route against Israel but here is what you fail to realize should Israel fall the Islamic Militants march on in glory to the next target and the next. It wont be long then when they hit our shores if we keep appeasing them.

Israel has things to answer for sure, but people seem willingly blind to hamas.

Yeah let's wait and see how much Israel wants to limit casualties and suffering shall we. Say a couple of weeks after they roll into Gaza.

People are not blind to the barbarity of the crimes of Hamas.

As to the crimes of Israel, well there are none so blind as those who will not see.

No-one on here is doing anything but condemn Hamas for their terrorist attack.

Where we differ is that many people genuinely believe that Israel does nothing wrong in return. And many do.

When certain extremists from the Middle East seek the destruction of Israel, they do not speak for the Majority. It is no different from the extremist Minority who want to seek the annihilation of Hamas, Hezbollah and pretty much every major Muslim group-as opposed to the individual terrorists within them.

The state of Israel does not exist purely to look after its Jewish population, but all of its citizens. It has a duty to protect Minorities and Race-fuelled attacks. In exactly the same way as the UK owes a duty to protect its own Minorities. Particularly antisemitism. And stop extremists from within its borders carrying out religious and race-related attacks.

Regrettably Israel does not. For example, from today:-

IDF soldier is killed by Hamas in Gaza during failed attempt to rescue hostages - as Israel launches 'heaviest 24 hours of bombing since conflict began, killing 400'

IDF soldier is killed by Hamas in Gaza during failed attempt to rescue hostages - as
Tensions rose in Gaza on Sunday as Hamas killed an Israeli soldier with an anti-tank missile during a failed raid into the enclave to free hostages taken by Hamas. Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu 's military unleashed the 'heaviest 24 hours' of bombing since the Israel-Hamas conflict began two weeks ago, with media sources in Gaza saying 400 Palestinians were killed in strikes across the enclave. As Israel continued to lay Gaza under 'total siege', and as the aerial bombardment continued into Monday morning, the Israeli Prime Minister convened a meeting of his top generals and his war cabinet to assess the escalating conflict. Fears that the war could swell into a wider Middle East conflict also grew as Hamas's leader met with Iran 's foreign minister, clashes across Israel's border with Lebanon intensified, and the IDF again struck Syria 's two main international airports. What's more, Washington warned that American interests in the region were at risk.

    Hi.

It's hard to read what you are saying without punctuation,
If you put full stops where sentences end and capital letters where sentences start it will be more readable.

'This is sick behaviour!': Outrage at Palestinian protester filmed clutching blood-soaked effigy of dead baby in London triggering 'hate crime' probe

Anger erupted last night after a video emerged showing a woman taking part in the pro-Palestine march through London on Sunday holding an effigy of a dead baby and shouting 'Slaughter the Jews'. Police are appealing for information to identify her and a second woman, who both led the chant in full view of dozens of onlookers, saying they are investigating the 'sick' incident as a hate crime. Footage emerged on social media of the women chanting in Arabic surrounded by a sea of protesters, some of whom looked bemused or confused as if they did not understand, while others actively smiled and nodded along. Children were seen just feet away from the two women, one of whom was carrying an object wrapped in a white shroud covered in fake blood which imitated the bodies of dead babies which have come out of Gaza in recent days. The women appeared to be chanting 'Khaibar Ya Yahud', a chant which compares the plight of Jewish people to an ancient massacre in Khaibar hundreds of years ago in which an entire Jewish settlement was slaughtered. Meaning 'Jews, remember Khaibar', it is now generally seen as a call to kill Jewish people. The Met Police have previously arrested people for similar chants which they say can incite violence.
