It's all a bit depressing this time around with the general election. There's nobody worth voting for nationally, while the Conservatives will probably hold on to their safe seat here. All other candidates in my constituency have been largely anonymous but there's no way I can vote Tory. I can't remember another general election like this in my living memory.

In other news, I was in a greasy spoon last week and a fella was loudly telling the owners that Rishi is the only person he can trust. I've no idea why, but he was likely receiving some form of disability benefit, so he might want to have a rethink. Somebody else replied that Farage is the only person they trust. Greasy spoons and pharmacy queues are always eye opening when it comes to political views

Tories narrow gap to Labour in poll as Sunak says election result not ‘foregone conclusion'

So no stories about starmer been a nonce I never believed he was but i really thought the tories would try to paint him as one before the election. maybe tomorrow if they left it to the fourth lots of people may already have voted before they hear the lie.

if that was not the plan all along then the only reason i can for Sunuk to have done this is because he was about to be forced out as pm by a party vote of no confidence and selfishly decided he would rather risk the whole party then lose his power.

Which may well be the case.

And suddenly, after being AWOL throughout, Boris comes out of hiding.

Presumably, part of his plan to be the next Conservative leader once Sunak has been binned.

To do that, he would have to be an MP. He is not standing. Suspect he wants to be Kingmaker, rather than King. He is much better at slogans and Blue Sky thinking than actually doing stuff.

The Conservative campaign has been truly terrible.

Their attacks have centred pretty much exclusively on 2 Parties. Labour and Reform. Labour are going to win the Election. Reform are going to win very few seats.

Meanwhile the Conservatives have been completely ignoring the Lib Dems. Which is, IMO, really stupid. The Lib Dems are likely to take rather more seats from the Tories than Reform. And, more importantly, there is a clear, and increasingly close, fight for 2nd Place in this Election.

If the Lib Dems get the 2nd most Seats then that is catastrophic for the Tories. They will not be the Official Opposition. They will be reduced to the 3rd Party-the one that struggles to get publicity. Or donors. The Lib Dems know how difficult that is-they have spent over 100 years trying to be in the top 2.

Farage's dream (of leading the Tories as a step towards being PM) gets a lot closer if the Tories come 3rd.

I dont know if you saw him on the telly last night, but he had a bit of a Trump going on, on his head.
It was a very wide parting, and large areas of uncovered scalp were visible.
He obviously needs a bit more lacquer.

What do people here think about tactical voting? I would likely vote Labour but only the Lib Dems realistically have a chance of winning in my constituency. I'd be okay with that both nationally and locally. The unfortunate thing is that both the Lib Dem and Labour candidates are unimpressive when compared to the Tory candidate.

Tactical voting definitely has its place.

The starting point must be:-do I have a higher priority that X does not win the Seat than who does? That can equally apply to Party and Candidate.

I have previously mentioned that, despite being a lifelong Socialist, I voted Conservative in the 2015 Election. Why? There were only 2 Parties that could win the Clacton seat then-Tories and UKIP. Both of the individual Candidates-Giles Watling and Douglas Carswell-were thoroughly decent people. But I preferred the Conservative Party to UKIP. For precisely the same reason that, if I still lived in that Constituency, I would prefer Tory to Reform. Added to the fact that only 1 of those Candidates is a decent human being.

However, if you prefer the Tory Candidate (as opposed to the Party) it is rather more tricky. I would suggest weighing up the pros and cons for Party/Candidate

Boris isn’t the Tories’ saviour, he’s their destroyer

Well election tomorrow and at this point it is looking very likely that labour win so I can say I called it on results day now because I said the result the night before voting happens.

Anyway i do not see this election as a contest for first place anymore but more a contest for second third and fourth place and I think this is unpredictable. I do not want to see the Tories be able to do what they have done and remain the opposition the 2nd party waiting in the wings to come back again they deserve to be destroyed for this.

However Sadly the reality of this is that if Tories move into third place reform take second place, and reform are far worse then the tories.

the Best case scenario is Labour take the most seats Lib dems become the opposition on the second most tories become the third party and Reform get less then 5 seats.

Sadly I think it will be Labour become the majority party Tories remain the opposition party in second and reform and lib dems are very close to each other as the third and fourth party.

its a better result then I initially thought better to have labour then tories but still not ideal.

In terms of numbers of seats, the likeliest outcome is:-

    1. Labour
    2. Conservatives
    3. Lib Dems
    4. SNP
    5. Any one of Reform, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein or the DUP
