Absolutely. This current habit of misinformation & disinformation is a terrible thing, we're even seeing it repeated on this Forum. People see it on the internet & seem to immediately assume it's true, without "sense-checking" it.
Does anyone know the name of the clothing company Bonnie Tossforth runs? - just want to make sure none of my family inadvertently buy any of her stuff....
A suspended Labour councillor has been charged with encouraging violent disorder.
Ricky Jones, 57, was filmed addressing a crowd at a London demonstration on Wednesday evening, during which he "appeared to make remarks and a gesture to encourage others to act violently towards far-right protestors", the Crown Prosecution Service said.
Following his appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court, Jones was remanded into custody.
He did not enter a plea, and his next appearance will be at Inner London Crown Court on 6 September.
Deputy Senior District Judge Tan Ikram said: "It is alleged that using a microphone you addressed a crowd at an anti-fascist protest and, talking about others you described as 'disgusting Nazi fascists', you said 'we need to cut their throats and get rid of them'."
I understand that the reason many cases are coming before the Courts so quickly is that they are pleading Guilty. If they plead Guilty, the Courts can deal with stuff instantly.
In this case, the accused did not enter a plea, so perhaps that slows it down. I don't actually know what "did not enter a plea" means, other than the obvious. @Essexphil may be able to give us a steer on this.
Oh yes, great find Stokey, & yes, everyone should find a few minutes to peruse it.
In infants, the chief causes of outrageous behavior — impulsivity, attention-seeking, and a sense of entitlement — are considered normal, but in adults they’re key symptoms of the “cluster-B” personality disorders. All four such disorders — narcissistic, histrionic, antisocial and borderline — are associated with heavy social media use, most likely because impulsive and dramatic cluster-B behaviors, such as playing the victim and catastrophizing, excel at getting attention on such platforms.
There is perhaps no more reliable indicator of a society’s ripeness for a mass movement than the prevalence of unrelieved boredom. In almost all the descriptions of the periods preceding the rise of mass movements there is reference to vast ennui; and in their earliest stages mass movements are more likely to find sympathizers and support among the bored than among the exploited and oppressed.
That really is ringing a lot of bells. Definitely worth a read.
I'm perhaps very fortunate, being just a regular guy who has never been bored in my entire life.
This neotoddlerism as it references is more about general contempt in modern democracys.
Zach Elwood who was/is a pro poker player and has wrote a few poker books has written a book on this exact societal trend albeit from an American stand point but it's very very relevant to what's going on in the uk recently.
Ok now a chance to prove that one law fits all, based on previous cases he should get in the region of 3 years.
Lets see shall we. Although compared to the speed with which rioters are being sentenced September 6th seems somewhat slow.
According to this video , the verbal offence committed in this case is the same as if he actually committed the offence, similar to if you hold someone at gunpoint with a fake gun, the offence is the same as carrying a real gun.
Beer-swigging coward stamped on man's head during sickening Piccadilly Gardens disorder following 'protests'
A thug stamped on a man's head during a sickening group attack in Piccadilly Gardens during disorder at the weekend.
Anthony Livesey, 31, was seen on Saturday, August 3, among a large group of 'far right protesters' who became involved in an assault on a black man. He has now pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said: "This was filmed by a member of the far right group and uploaded onto X, formerly Twitter.
"In relation to this defendant, he was seen to antagonise mounted police officers with two beer bottles in his hand on Market Street whilst swearing and chanting at the police and opposing protestors."
Livesey was then seen following the group as they climbed over barriers before they attacked the man. He was seen to 'swing a punch' towards the man while others pounced.
At one stage the man was dragged away by members of the group before falling to the ground.
"The defendant was then seen to stamp on top of the male's head," the prosecutor added. "The police then became involved."
The court heard Livesey, of Moorfield Avenue, Denton, Tameside, has previous convictions for domestic violence including battery and controlling behaviour. No application for bail was made on his behalf by his solicitor.
Remanding him into custody, District Judge Lucy Hogarth said: "I have worked in criminal justice for nearly 30 years and I am not often lost for words but this offence that was committed by you and your friends is one of the most cowardly and disgraceful cases I have ever experienced. I am absolutely stunned and shocked by you and your friends’ behaviour."
He will next appear at Manchester Crown Court on August 16. A number of men have admitted their part in the attack on the victim, including later on Friday, Colin Demulder, 36. He also also caught on camera attacking the lone man.
"Woman who posted fake name of Southport attacker says it ‘destroyed’ her"
I'm not sure who is worse, her & her ilk who deliberately shared the misinformation, or the gullible sorts who believed it because they wanted it to be true.
This thread contains so many jaw-dropping quotes & facts.
Why on earth would anyone think setting fire to a Community Library make sense, & what would it achieve?
And there were several instances of people posting Online "set fire to the hotels housing asylum seekers". SET FIRE TO OCCUPIED BUILDINGS? Are they mad? I have never understood this sort of racism or dislike of foreigners, but burning them alive, where does that level of hate come from, & why? How does any of that make sense?
In the UK, we live in a multi-cultural society, with those from foreign lands fulfilling useful & vital roles in society, in the NHS, transport, service industries & we all get along fine. In poker, if anyone here has played much "Live" poker, you will have shared tables with many, many Asians & Muslims, & they are no different to you or me. Presumably, it's the same Online, & here on Sky :Poker, you may be sharing a table with several Asians without hating on them.
I really have no idea where all this hate comes from. I do know that most of us despise racism with every ounce of our bodies. It just makes no sense.
