In Response to Re: THE NEW POKER LEAGUE......:
Now things have calmed down abit, I wanna pick up on something Freechips asked earlier, that got lost in the madness of the thread...... Is there any alternative prize/motivation for people to win this league, if they dont want to/cant/ haven't got the time to play live? Maybe, sell the prize to someone else? For example, if being a member of team sky means I would get £1k of live poker tourny entries, I could sell this prize, with priority to buy it going to whoever finished 2nd/3rd etc in the tourny I won.... (obviously for a knock down price.....maybe 70% or something?) So they pay me £700, and for their money get £1k in tourny entries, and the prestige of being a team sky member? Obviously a massive part of this is promoting SKY poker, so just getting the 1k directly off sky aint an option, as it defeats the whole point of them being represented at live events....(something that will be solved with my suggestion above) Is there any room for negotiation? Probably irrelevant for me atm, as Im never gonna be in the top 30 cash players with the time I put in/limits I play at now, but obviously within the next year I aim to move up the stakes, and will be pushing the top 50/40/30 before long, and I assume this TSP is gonna be a long term thing. Thanx, JJ.

    Hi JJ,

To the best of my knowledge, the Prizes are non-transferable.

I'm not really au fait with all the Rules though, it would just seem logical to me that it would not be transferable.

Probably be best if you contacted Customer Services, & asked them, as their answer would be "official", whereas mine is just an opinion.

I know cash will be hard to come in top 30, but it must be a bit easier trying to make top 30 in the stt section?

TBH top 30 in any section will be hard... STT you will have the big buyin players who will earn big points each time a STT runs, and you will have people playing loads of roulette sit n go's. Well if their best way of winning is at roulette then GL to them.

MTT's obv high variance, 1 bad beat and ur looking for the next mtt. Top 30 will require alot of work and alot of run good.

Yes im going to get into the top 30 by being a rusian roulete specialist! :)

Surely Russian Roulettes have got to be ignored for trying to get into Team Sky.  Somebody who's never played poker before could buy their way in just by wasting their time and money playing loads of RR's.  It's made a bit of a nonsense out of the STT league for a while now.

C'mon Sky sort this one out!!

PS Unless you plan on entering your TSP into live Russian Roulette games

Only just heard about this today and apologise if I,m repeating anything someone  else has already said, but am I right in thinking that this only really applies to high stakes players.

Why can,t we have something for the  micro/low or middle stakes players?

There are some players who play low limit stakes, who in my opinion are bettter players than some of the high stakes players who can rack up points for fun due to their BR even if they are losing on a regular basis.

care to come up with some names of people who are losing on a regular basis but near the top of the league? Seems to me the way most of these players get a bankroll is by beating every limit they play at.

If these low limit players you speak of were actually any good then they wouldnt be at the low limits for very long. You seem to be implying there are players who are really good good but miraculously dont win enough money to be able to afford higher limits. Does that make sense to you?

I was saying the same offshoot!

Most players like you have worked your way up to where you are by beating the game at various levels.

I am still learning but im slowly going up the levels and one day hopefully I will get to where you guys are.

I really dont get this whole it's not fair thing?

I'm at the micros still but I know while I am beating this level I am no where as good as you guys yet.

I wasn,t implying that at all.

Maybe I didn,t put it as well as i could have.

All I am saying is that maybe have a few deepstack tourneys and see who comes out on top for the players like myself and donkeyplop who play at micro and low level, but don,t play enough to get anywhere ner the points total, but who may be good enough at deepstack tournaments to take on the bigboys.

One of my first picks would be daveyzzz. I don,t know what level he plays at or how often but by winning  2 sky tour legs. for me, he has proved himself at deepstack live tournaments more than anyone , which is what the Sky team will be playing anyway

My post wasn,t meant as a moan or a go at anyone. Its just an idea

To  be fair mp mate if they do another total player (which tikay has said they will) it gives players of all stakes a chance.

Just wait for that then hope you get a chance......................

No Disrespect to Davey because he is a great bloke and I speak to him at all the live events, but Sky legs are in no way a deepstack!! A 5k stack with 30 minute blinds is probably the same as the old 7 minute blind open.

I see what your getting at with the idea, but I think for this sort of prize what Sky are doing is spot on, there are quite a few big UK MTT's out there and they need to make sure that TSP members will be available to play them, so by picking players who play the most on the site shows they have a lot of spare time/is their job to play poker.

Like said above, I think Total Player will be the best bet for the players your talking about as it really does pick the best players from the site and puts them all on an even playing field.

I have to clarify that again, if you don't mind.

Someone last week said "TSP obviously replaces Total Player" (where DO they get this info from? - they must make it up!) & soon others were buying into that wholly fictitious statement, & everyone was saying it, "ahh, so Total Player has been scrapped, bah humbug".

I tried to clarify it at the time, perhaps I never made it clear. This is the position.

Total Player has NOT been scrapped.

Discussions took place several times in the last 2 weeks as to if & when Total Player may or may not restart.

The impending Studio Move means TP cannot begin before the Studio move. The Studio move is scheduled for Nov/Dec, & so at best, TP, if it runs again, will not be back until, say, January or February. For reason of timings of the WSOP etc, it could not commence later than February.

It remains likely that Total Player will return. It has definitely NOT been scrapped.

Solly, I SO love you. Sometimes.

Why is your name not on the Blackpool SPT Entry List? You are TOTA # 3. (TOA = Target Of Tikay Abuse).

PS - Thanks for the Omaha Hi-Lo session last night, HUGE fun, & a lovely end to a bit of a stressful week. Somehow, in one memorable hand, I ran into ElsaDog & MerePlonker, who held Top Set, & second Top Set. And I runner-runner double-binkady-binked the straight.

They both seemed very pleased for me, though, & said as much. Sort of.

Earlier, in the 8pm Main, FlashFlush arrived to my right, very late in the Tourney, & short-stacked. You just KNEW he was going to shove "any two", so I told him in the chat-box - "I call ANY shove from you Charles". So he shoved, I called with a minor premium (K-6), & to my horror, he was ahead, he had A-4! Luckily, Binkage occurred.

Poker, it's what we are here for, & it was a grand & relaxing evening.

    Hi All,
I've just re-read the rules for this and i'm a bit puzzled. Why does someone who plays the higher levels get more points for winning hands than someone playing low levels.
I may be a bit dense(it's been said before lol), but this does not look very fair.
Surely it would be better to have everyone on an even playing field and only award 1 point for every hand won across all levels.

This is NOT a personal whinge, as i have opted out of the league, it's just an observation. I have no doubt it would not vary the outcome.
As far as i can see, if you play 15/30, you would have to be remarkably successful at that level to match some winning players at 1/2.

Finally to answer Offshoot. You have to remember this process is supposed be attainable to ALL Sky players, not just the so-called elite players. I will give you a name of one player that does deserve the TSP accolade(not that he is a losing player), that is SOLARCARRO. HE has final tabled in the APAT team championchips and went very deep in the SPT final.
