Played mostly HU this morning cos tables were terrible/non existent when I logged on and never got round to checking back on the cash lobby. Ran poor at the £10s again, and better at the £5s even though the standard is the same.

    I won 8 out of 11 games @ £5s and 5 out of 11 @ £10s, for a £6.75 profit. Meh.

Deposited again on 888 today and played a rebuy on there but ran pretty dreadful, AKs<A3o aipf to double my double stack early. Won most of my BIs back for that rebuy after winning a few HU games on there though.

Well I just suffered the most brutal hour of poker in my life.

It's been a rough month throughout really, struggling to get a lot of wins together to rack up some decent profit, but I had a really decent session yesterday and tonight started well so I was going in the right direction.

I played the main and mini, got quite far in the main, but bust main with about 100 left when someone decided to setmine 55 and flop it V my QQ on something like 357. Mini I 3b shoved KK, called by QJ and the T98 flop was gg. Also played a £25 sat for the UKOPS high roller semi, I won a seat there so got £115 (I always take the cash just incase I don't want to/cant play the target event) so was +£75 for MTTs.

    Played a few SnGs, just to get on 861 tbh, but my SnG wasn't picked anyway. I regged 3 x  TV SnGs, a £1.10 which I won for £3.90, a £5.50 where I came 2nd for £10.50 and an £11 which I bust in 4th so -£3.20.

Cash was going well during all that time, was probably about +£100, then when the HR sat finished at about 11pm the doom switch was flicked and I had the worst hour of poker I've ever experienced. It all started with turning the 2nd nut straight (non paired and non flush board) against someone who'd turned the nut straight at 100NL and getting it in. After that I just got stacked over and over again, every one being either a grim cooler or a bad beat. I was happy with how I played them all so not much I can do really, just none of my hands held. Cash finished -£340 so think I must have dropped close to £500 in that last hour.

So only -£270 for the night which isn't so bad I guess, largely thanks to winning that £115 HR seat but siiigh, back to being like +£150 for the month.

Raising flop Hand 1 is a pretty significant mistake imo.

All the rest is pretty meh.

Yeah as Chris said raising flop in hand 1 is def a mistake as is calling the flop 3bet IMO. I mean we're just not in great shape vs anything. Were there any specific reads/reasons you raised the flop?

Hand 2 yeah maybe I fold river since too many people give up out of firing the 3rd barrel although someone that pots twice probably isn't slowing down so maybe it should be the turn that we're folding (if we were going to fold). The river T is kinda annoying because we now go behind to TT - not to mention 99 also might slow down. I don't know villain so maybe it's standard tho.

3 is cooler, hand 4 not sure what you're trying to acclompish OTR - is it thin value or a bluff? Hand 5 fine. Hand 6 yeah as you said maybe should get away somewhere. I think turn is the clearest of folds though since we're almost never ahead and the few times we are villain always has a flush draw at least. Hand 7 again just UL.

H1: is pretty standard, can't be scared of a flush there and criminal not to stack sets & QQ+ on flop. Well played.

H2: 3bet pre, I know villain is loose but they posted pre and could freak out with A2s+,22+,KT+,Q9s+,K8s+,QT+ pre, we crush. Her range is like 85% limp call here with a tonne of 3's & 2's in range. Narrow range by raising flop. We dont know where we stand as played, playing blind ip, might as well play oop with eyes closed... seriously have to consider folding on turn/river barrels. Posts utg, limpcalls (hu pot), donks 334t flop, donks turn, donks river!!?

    H3 & H4: Well played. Coolered.

H5: Multiway, prefer a delay cbet. as played fine. coolered.

H6: GII pre. flop eff SPR makes life too hard to get away.

Overall think you did good - obv depends on total hands played for the night. Nice to see an array of stakes as well, ideally need to be playing 4x tables of 200+ if you want to play full time imo if your not putting massive volume in. the cap makes a huge difference to bottom line.

    Cheers for the input folks.

So I played the Grand Pric Final at DTD yesterday. The day started in a really frustrating fashion, just kept bricking all my draws and no-one ever failed to brick their draws V me when I had a hand. I was up and down for a while, only winning non-showdown pots, and got from the 50k starting stack up to about 60k by 500/1k (I think level 4/5), then I had a really grim hand. The runout was 348dd, To, Ko, so no possible straights or flushes and the money went in over 3 streets with my 33 V villian's 44. That left me with 5xBB and I shipped K9, called by Q6 and bust.

It's a 2hr drive to DTD (and that's pertty much the closest card room/casino to me) so seen as I was already there I thought I'd give it a 2nd shot. So I re-entered with 50 bigs. I was card dead for what felt like an absolute age after re-entering but somehow managed to maintain my 50k starting stack. Blinds got to 1.5k/3k and I minraised 99 UTG, only the BB calls. Flop comes 772dd, I cbet small, villian who has been pretty laggy/spewy raises. I'm pretty sure he'd have 3b pre with most bigger PPs and I didn't think he was raising the flop with 7x or the odd bigger PP he might not have 3b pre TT/JJ, so I stick the rest in, he calls with K2 and I hold for 100k.

Not long after, someone minraises from EP with about 50k, I 3bet AKo, he ships, I snap, and we win a flip against JJ to go to 155k. After that, I was pretty card dead again for ages and slowly blinded down a bit. Long story short, I found myself in the last level of the day (4k/8k) with just over 100k. At this point I wasn't gonna blow it and just gamble but I was hoping some kinda spot would come up for me to try and double or bust before the day ended. It was pretty annoying cos obviously everyone was putting a lot of thought into their decisions, whether it was a case of 'do I wanna bust out now this close to day 2' or 'how much am I willing to gamble it up to make sure I get a stack for tomorrow' but either way there was 20 mins to go and everyone was tanking for so long about every decision when all I wanted to do was get as many hands as possible played so I had the best chance of finding a hand to GII with. With about 5 mins to go, that laggy/spewy villian to my right minraised, I shipped AJs, he called with AJo and we chop it up. The very next hand he just open ships this time, and I call with AJs. He turns over TT, we flop a FD, brick turn, flush completes on the river and we've go 222k. I put my 1k ante in next hand which is the last hand of the night and we finish with a 221k stack to take into day 2 on Sunday.

GL to anyone else who is coming back on Sunday.

    ==========================================================

Played main tonight, started well, took 2 bounties fairly early, was chipping up slowly, then last hand before the 10pm break I had KK<AA to bust. Finished 87/349 with £22.50 of heads.

Cash sucked again, ran pretty awful but managed to finish +£40.

As I mentioned in my last post, I came back to Day 2 of the Grand Prix with 221k...

361 players came back from the 2013 (entries) that started, 215 were getting paid and average was 270k so I was just a little under that.

The start of the day went great, everyone was either card dead or being vvv nitty and I was getting plenty of playable hands so it was a long time before I lost a pot. I opened 33, then took it down with a cbet, opened 55, took down the blinds, opened AK, and took it down on a Kxx flop, then I 3b sqz AKo, jam QTx flop, villian folds AK and I was up to 360k in about 20 mins.

First pot of the day that actually made it past a flop, I opened ATo in mid position, and was peeled by 1 of the blinds. Flop is  Ax Kd Qd and I bet/call flop. Turn is a brick, 3c iirc and he checks so I instantly ruled out most/all value hands that beat me unless he's playing it very strange, I check back. River is another brick, 7c I think, and he bets small. Calling and losing would have left me with like 60k but called and was good to take me to nearly 500k. Out of interest what are people's thoughts with regard to showdown here? When we call do we hold off and wait for him to show/announce his hand? I said something like 'I've got the ace' and he mucked, am I just giving up free info by announcing first? Don't wanna get into the area of people messing about and arguing over who should show first so just said I had the ace, but he should technically show first, right?

Not long after that someone shoved AT, I reshipped AK and we hold to go up to 650k. By this point average was about 415k, blinds I think were 8k/16k with 238 left.

Can't really remember many more hands of note, just a few raise/folds etc but by the time I got ITM I had 500k (just over avg) and blinds were 10/20k. Once we got ITM obv people started flying out cos the payjumps were dreadful so everyone was just trying to spin it up or go home. So I open KQo with 500k @ 12k/24k from the CO, expecting to snap off either of the blinds who who <15xBB. The SB shipped, I call, he has 96ss and it runs out 24435 and that leaves me with about 150k. I don't play another pot until the BTN shoves on my next BB, by which point I have about 140k and blinds have gone up to 15k/30k so I snap with A8hh and we hold against QJo. Now I'm back in the region of 300k, and I ship the BTN with KQcc and the 96ss guy from earlier has AK in the blinds and it's gg.

I finished 181st and got £250 so was exactly break even cos I used 2 bullets on it. Meh at least it was a free flag.

One thing I've taken from it though, I don't think I'll be playing another DTD event in the forseeable that gives out seats taken from the prizepool. The payouts were insanely top heavy, to the point where iirc you needed to finish something like 50th out of 2000+ entries to get 4x the BI. Don't think it reached 4 figures until like 10th place.

So the next time I play live will probably be Luton, I've been there once for an SPT and thought it was a really nice place (but can't remember which casino in Luton it was)... what are people's opinions? Is one noticeably better than the other?

Yeah, he should show first. I would wait for him to show before announcing my hand.

Aint posted for a while, didn't play much at all towards the end of Oct and was pretty much break even for the period anyway.

Frustrating last couple of days. Thursday night I was 3/10 in the mini, doing great then JJ<AK and KK<99 to knock out 2 different people and in the space of 2 mins and it's gg.

Didn't play Friday, then tonight same again, deepish run in the main, bust in a flip iirc with about 70 odd left I think, just standard. Went a lot deeper in the mini, going great again with about 20 left, then AT<A5, blinds go up and I ship my last 10xBB w/ 33, into JJ, and another sigh gg. It's even more grim in the Mini cos payouts are so poor unless you FT, so got a 10th and a 12th between those 2 minis and think cashes total about £50 combined :(

Be nice if I could have a deep run on Sky without running awful when it really counts, sigh. Maybe it'll happen in UKOPS :)

Ran so bad in UKOPS satellites this morning. I played 3 x £12 Directs to the £110 main and 2 x £6 Directs to the main, all 5 of them had overlay iirc and I didn't ven get within a sniff of a seat once.

Cash was equally poor, about -£45

On the bright side, I'm loving this double points lark. First proper session of the month (my only other 'session' was playing 4-5 MTTs) and I'm on 850 points already.

More of the same tonight, nothing going my way. Starting to get pretty frustrating now.

    Finished -£65 on cash.

    Mini came 283rd no heads
    £22 9-max came 103rd

Main was going well throughout, I had an amazing table from the start til about 11:20pm so it was all fairly straight forward. I won a pot with KK v KT on T66 to bust someone and that gave me an unwanted table move. Turns out it wasn't the worst table in the world (it helped that Bates bust 2 mins after I sat down), but I had a guy to my direct left who was clear a complete punter and he had 100k in chips. I had 40k at this point (600/1200). He'd managed to punt off like half of his stackin the first 20 mins of me being there by doing stuff like limp/calling shoves w/ J8s and calling shoves with nothing invested with J2s.

Anyway, I open A9, only he calls, cbet AK8ss, he just ships which is not hugely shocking given his level of punting. I call, and he has JTss, not exactly what I wanna see but I'm still a small favourite, obv snap turns the Q and I'm drawing dead. I bust 32nd with 21 paid. A hold there gives me like a top 5 stack... one day I'll rungood in a Sky MTT.

It's my birthday tomorrow so might play in the morning but deffo taking the night off. Had toothache for a few days so got a dentist appointment tomorrow about 5pm, so that's a nice birthday present!

Having a complete punter on your table is happy days! :)

Do we have to call the shove though? Yes he's shown to be very loose, but are we likely to be comfortably ahead on this texture? Sometimes even a loose cannon will have us in a complete coffin on this board.

    Happy birthday.

    Harry makes a good point.

I think you could have waited for a better spot to call for your stack against that opponent?

What was your thinking with the cbet? it was never going to be respected and even if ahead you were never to going to be huge favourite - even Ax is likely to chop so you wont get the double up.

I believe this could be your MTT leak - small edges in cash build up over time - risking your stack too often and too soon in an MTT doesnt make sense. Rebuys excepted you cannot "reload".

"one day I'll rungood in a Sky MTT"- You are too good a player to have to rely on "run good" early to mid and gamble for your tournament life.

I observed pretty much all of Chris Moormans play in the HR. Dont think he risked his stack ONCE - a chunk of it yes - but his tournament was NEVER on the line. Early doors he won a flip - but would have still had a playable stack if lost. Latter stages pre cash he got lucky with JJ v KK and a committed shortstack but again he would still have had a playable stack had he lost and the way the stack sizes were he had to call the KK.

End stages he smashed it - as he had talked about on the show - especially around the cash and FT bubbles. Pressure pressure pressure.

I dont play much MTTs as I generally dont have the time for long sessions - when I did and learned to take some down my biggest leak had been taking a gamble early to mid that would cost me my stack if lost.

Happy Birthday and hope the tooth is sorted - had a Jac35 spate of bad teeth myself this past year and it ain't fun.
