In Response to Re: Many Rivers To Cross. A Diary. : Yes, but the Red Spade Open is $55 and has a similar top end prize, I think that's where the confusion came from.

I was watching the red carpet footage for the Academy Awards yesterday.  I have now decided I need to be somehow nominated for an Oscar.  I need to on that carpet, accompanied by a hired struggling actress, just so when asked 'Who are you wearing?' she can say 'Primark.'

I need to do this, just for the chuckles.

Question for HU Cash specialists.  On another site I am trying to get a game of HU PLO.  There are plenty of people waiting but after having a decent session against one of them earlier I now can't seem to get a game.  Six different players are either snap sitting out or sitting out after  handful of hands.

Is it better to open a table myself and wait if I want a game or should I keep trying?  Game selection isn't an important part of this question, I just want a game as I'm trying to improve my HU PLO game.

I had the same problem the other night, 1 player sat out after 20 hands, and another wouldn't even play me at all even though I have never seen them :/

Breaking news, police are evicting the occupy protesters outside St Pauls right now.

Now regardless of your opinion of the actual protest (I have mixed feelings on it myself) I am again annoyed that they do these evictions at this time of night.  I find it somewhat distasteful and feel like they are trying to sweep the elements of society out of view while there is no one there to side with the protesters.  Yes it may make perfect sense as a clearing tactic but for me it just feels very controlled and extremely Big Brother like.

At the end of the day while the actual protest is pretty limp and IMO easy to ignore, what harm are they actually doing?

Your thoughts on Scottish independence Tommy? I'm Scottish, bored of it, and couldn't care less. Is a min-raise on the river ever, ever, ever a bluff?
    Posted by bandini
I'd rather the whole UK stuck together.  If the Scottish majority want to leave then fair enough but I think it damages everyone rather than help.

Min raise on the river?  Every now and again it's a bluff, but not often.

I feel sorry for them tbh, some of them devote their lives, wrecking havoc on their health in he process . . . and for what?

If you want to protest for a cause, sing a protest song, do something notable; shouting on deaf ears and blocking public place is more of an annoyance tbh. Better alternative is to protest in a more notible and thought provoking way, but the athourities are scoring an own goal here imo by causing a scene.

I agree with some of your sentiment but I actually think they should have made more of a nuisance of themselves towards the people they were protesting against.  They took the easy option and sat on half Church land and half council land, caused a lot of commotion without ever really getting any depth of their message across.  I visited the camp and it rather became a jolly and something you could say you did without really doing anything.

They should have gone over those barriers and occupied the stock exchange square IMO.  They were always going to get moved on, might as well have done some positive action even if they get moved on quicker.

I support the occupy campaign but just want them, us and me to actually do something proactive rather than garner publicity without doing a darn thing.

Will you ever regret starting this diary when you realise it gives any idiot out license to ask you any random question he feels like Tommy? You strike me as too good a guy to ignore any. I might well take advantage.

Bandini, feel free to ask me whatever you like.  I am an open book.  Not that deep actually, I'm more like an open magazine you see at the dentist.

Hi Tommy, Enjoying the Diary.  Re. hands I'm guessing JJ held and in 2 the flush never came losing to set?  Anyways, a couple of questions.. What set-up do you have computer-wise?  and, are there times when you are free to play poker and just don't fancy playing cos you're not in the right frame of mind?

    Hey Pad

I just use a fairly big laptop.  It's about four months old and runs like a dream.  I can normally run 5 SkyPoker games on it with 2-4 other site MTTs running, that's pretty much my own personal limit. My old laptop was a bit of a mare.  I had inherited it from my brother after the old one I had blew a fuse.  I managed to inherit it because it was rather temperamental after a can of beer was wasted on it's innards.  I tinkered with the lappy and realised that it was only the battery which was permanently damaged, so for about a yeat I was playing on SkyPoker with an AC adaptor power only laptop.  Did you ever see me suddenly disconnect?  That was when I knocked the cord out by accident.  Lost the odd big pot that way, always nice to provide yourself with your own original tilt.

I often don't play poker when I'm free to.  Lately I have been grinding hard but I can have weeks where I just don't fancy it, just the joy of being a recreational player.

You said you will just buy in to tournaments direct usually, does this not affect you as it may be all your cash profits for the day and you may not cash any tournaments and may leave you for a loss. I find this difficult as if I buy in to lots of tournaments and if I brick them all I feel I always have to restore my BR to back to what it was before and begin to chase the money.  So do you just try forget and not really take too much notice of how much you are up or down ?
    Posted by Rknowlez
As soon as I buy into a MTT I consider the money gone, there's just no other way to treat it.  You cash in so few MTTs it'll drive you mad to focus on the buy in, and if you play for the min cash you will never win one with having the card rack from the heavens.

As far as taking notice of your ups and downs, I look at the long view.  I look at my results over at least a six month period for MTTs, and that's still a small sample size when it comes to MTT variance.

In Response to Re: Many Rivers To Cross. A Diary. : That's one sik tourney 250k average 1st place prize for a mere 50dollars!! I would play this every week, shame i work on Mondays, includes early starts too :(. Question m8: what preparations do you do before starting each session?(if any) and do you review hands on HM or PT3 (or hh on sky) after each session? Thanks m8
    Posted by WHOAMI196
Before session.  I normally play a few games of chess if I have time just to get the mind running.

After session/review periods.  I just use the HHs, I don'y touch HEN or PT.  I have used the trial for HEM manager in the past though and I think it's a great reviewing tool but I wouldn't use the HUD.

    hmmm, not sure if serious.

I've started PLO rings games in the past with mixed results.  Yes I have rarely started a NLHE cash game (been starting more recently, mainly the deep tables) and yes I should try to start more.  One thing in my favour though, I do sit with regs and I don't sit out starting a game HU.

Sadly I have given up Coca Cola for lent (other root vegetable drinks are available).  I'm normally addicted to the stuff so it's a good test for me.  The result so far?  I'm drinking tons of tea, which will probably be the next thing to quit.

I'm an insomniac anyway YG, so I'm used to surviving on little sleep, can't really help other than suggest the ways young men have been getting themselves to sleep for many generations.  My website might help ;)
