I have recently started playing poker on Sky normally just on the 2p-4p tables but cannot get the hang of raising. I tend to end up only collecting the blinds if I raise 4 times the big blind which can be very frustrating if I have been dealt a great 2 hole cards.
Is there any advice you could give me to help get value for good cards?
I will try & get up to date on this thread later today guys, apologies for the delay. Posted by Tikay10
Hi Tony, I should think so m8. WHat else have you go to do anyway, all your doing is few interviews, taking some piccys, resting and eating. PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN hehehe.

Hi oneil10,
Tikay is currently working in Las Vegas so I hope that you'll permit me to answer your question. I'm not exactly sure what your question is but assuming that you're commenting on the number of times that the flop contains a pair then I believe that, ignoring hole cards, the likelihood is 17% which is almost exactly 1 in 6 times. Therefore, I would say that what you have encountered is well within expected results.
Anything that you see on this site in terms of dealt hands is exactly what you would expect to see on "REAL" tables. The cards are "randomised" before each deal which is the equivalent of shuffling them so there will be no difference between live games and online games in that respect.

How much is it to enter the SPT Swanea? Posted by xEvz88
Hi xEvz,
Apologies for the late reply to your question.
I'm afraid this time there were no direct buy-ins to Swansea and the only way to qualify was to satellite in.
If you managed to qualify then good luck in the tournament! If you weren't so lucky then i hope you manage to play in a future SPT event. If you need anything else - just shout.
Im dealt a pair of 2s and raise get called flop is 8,2,j he goes all in i`m thinking he has 1 or 2 pairs so i go all in turn was a 4 i think then on the river another jack we both have full houses but.... he has pocket 8s is there any way i could have got out of that 1? Posted by JINKIE7
Nope, I'm afraid not JINKIE.
House over House or even Set over Set is very rare in Texas Hold Em (though not so in Omaha), & in most cases, are ungetoffable. There are certain exceptions when the board comes a running overpair, but really, it's a "cooler", & you just have to take it on the chin.
The good thing is that it cuts both ways, equally. One day it will be you with the 8's & him with the 2's......;)
Always remember, these things cut both ways. As in life, remember & focus on the good, not the bad.
Hi Tikay, I have been playing on Sky Poker for a while but I am a virgin on the forum so please be gentle with me. I would like to improve my game and wondered if you could recommend a good weekly/monthly poker magazine and good poker analysis software that is compatible with Sky Poker. Hope you are enjoying yourself in Vegas. Regards Dandax
hello, i have been playing poker on Skypoker.com for about 2 years now, and i am wondering why they are so many bad beats on the site, i have just played 5/10p blinds and had £5 , raise from button with 77 (Heart, Spade) i raise all in with AK off suit , flop came 6 A K (spades, spades, clubs), turn 4 (spades), River 5 (spades), rather bad beat i think. Also the cards were dealt a lot faster on the turn and river than in any other hand on the table. Can you tell me why there are so many losses like this on the site, it is as if the computer generates the cards to pick up the biggest rake and keep the people on the site who keep winning.

Hi Simon
You may find this post interesting, please click here, You say you pushed all in with AK off, the cards went on thier backs and they turned over 77, you were behind and a slight underdog, about 55%/45% the 77 will win more times than AK off, the best hand held up, im afraid this is not a bad beat, there are so many "losses" because there are a lot more hands dealt on line, these losses as you call them happen on every site you would care to mention, I dont think it matters how fast the final 2 cards are dealt, remember it is a 7 card game, the reason the same players keep wining?, well it cant be luck can it?
the cards being dealt faster/slower is due to lag...
It happens all the time - maybe you only noticed it here coz u lost the hand and got paranoid...
As Barry said, that is not a bad beat, but I agree it's gutting to flop the king and still lose, but not unusual for it to happen (on this site or any other)
LAG is frustrating too!! grrrrrrrr - ne ideas how to stop it ne1?
One question, probably been asked before so expecting a yellow card but.... On the game screen why when you click in the bid amount text field doesn't it highlight the value entered in the field rather than putting your cursor in as a insertion point? When I have fiddled with the slider and can't get the right amount I am already up against the timer so usually I want to replace 67.5 with 100 rather than change 67.5 to 607.5. A bit annoying that. Thanks in advance.

I doubt this is something that Tikay will be able to help with, can I suggest that you repost it in the Technical Queries forum where I am sure one of the Sky boffins will be able to answer your enquiry.
