Instead of having a thread in the General Poker Chat forum, you could have a separate Ask Tikay forum. All the best Posted by Sherlock
A seperate Board, you mean? I wish! I don't think that kite will ever fly, as so far as I'm aware, adding extra Boards to this Forum is not very do-able.
If it were, well, personally, I'd love to see a Cash-Only Board - "Cash Corner", or somesuch. It would be a right stormer, that.
I've only belatedly realised that the Sky Poker Cash players must feel a bit miffed, as almost the whole Forum is slanted towards Tourneys. The worm needs to turn. Just a bit.

I think they're called forums (look at the top of this page it says "Forums» Sky Poker Discussions » General Poker Chat »Ask Tikay?"
The forum list is:
General Poker Chat The Sky Poker Tour Poker Strategy The Shed The Sky Poker T.V Channel Sky Poker Announcements Community Suggestions Technical Queries Area 51
Isn't it possible to add another forum called "Ask Tikay" or "Cash Corner" or whatever?

Careful, you are on my specialist subject now!
Whatever Sky Poker may wish to label the various areas is fine & dandy, but the industry-wide generic names are "Boards".
The thing as a whole is "a Forum" or "the Forum"
Within the Forum, there are seperate specialist areas. These are called "Boards" or "the Boards".
So, we visit the Sky Poker Forum, & interact in & view the different Boards.
Pedancy rules.
There is only one Sky Poker Forum. It contains several Boards. Within the Boards are Threads. Within the Threads are Posts.

OK. We've got the nomenclature sorted out - are you saying it's impossible to add a Board to the Forum?

Hi tikay
Specialist subject coming up, during the advancement of technology, Locomotives have gone from Steam to diesel to leccy, have you any favourites from each generation?, my current fav has to be the GBRf class 66726 Sheffield Wednesday, although, this is the 2nd Locomotive named after us. I also think the Flying Scotsman from the steam generation was great

Excellent
I'm afraid that's a question only Sky-Rich can answer, as he is more au fait with the software architecture of this particular Forum.
In a regular Forum, yes, it's easy, & 100% necessary, because as the Forum gets bigger - & this one is growing at an incredible rate - you HAVE to break it into more manageable parcels. Or Boards.....;). For example, stuff is dropping off the front page of the "General Poker Chat" Board far too fast right now, due to the sheer volume of traffic. Hence this very convo we are having.
The Sky Poker Forum/Community is a fancy piece of kit though, so I've no idea if it's do-able.
By the bye, so you & I know each other? I seem to recognize your "style" from somewhere.

On the subject of 'stickies'. Having been a large forum admin, sorry, admin of a large forum for many years - just like Tikay - one strange thing I've noticed is that stickies often get missed. People have a tendancy to 'not see them', despite their prominent place in the thread list. It must be approx 7,357 times I've seen people ask a question relating directly to the subject of a sticky, only for them to then say "What's a sticky? Oh, I never saw that up there.". It's odd but it does happen!

We don't know each other apart from chatting on this Forum.
We had a conversation about tournament guarantees a few weeks back (same Board, different Thread.)
I prefer the term 'subforum' myself ;-) On the subject of 'stickies'. I'm afraid it is not only odd, but it is 100% true. Sadly, I've had more arguments about this than I've had hot dinners!
Regular Members are less inclined to read stickies, because......
1) It's usully generic info.
2) If it needs stickying, then it means it needs artificially supporting to hold position. Interesting Threads don't need stickies!
This of course, is my personal view (based on experience) & is not intended as being critical of the way they do it here. It's just a hobby-horse of mine, & a view I've held for 6 years.
Personally, I never read Stickied Threads, but that's just because I'm stubborn & obdurate. But I bet I'm not alone.
But we all see these things through different eyes, & it's not a big deal either way.

Barry I would like to personally invite you to take a look at our facilities in area51. We have a special Choo-choo train area where some of our guests spend many a happy hour or two chuff-chuffing around the ward.

When & where did Barry Post that? - I must have missed it, & would like to reply.
It's not widely known, but I have more than a passing interest in transport matters, especially Railway locomotion, rolling stock, catenery, & permanent way.

Tikay, are you still going to be running the competition this weekend, and if so do you need any help with the thread? Posted by Kiwini4u
1) Probably - I'm stil trying to figure out the best way to do it, my head seem to be stuffed with cotton-wool today, I can't think straight. Bear with me!
2) Thank you, that would be appreciated. The efforts that guys like Barry & yourself make on behalf of this Community do not go un-noticed.

Obstinate, immoveable, intractable, and resistant to sin. ......... Fetch me a bacofoil halo!
"Obdurate" means stubborn, & awkward. (Not, as many think, "female").
I said he could bring a friend
