killyglen and cappa bleu for me out of my original shortlist of 4, stick in ballabriggs for the straight tricast in that order as previous years winners place quite frequently over the years and a smaller e/w saver rare bob @ 40's

    1. KILLYGLEN
    2.CAPPA BLEU
    3.BALLABRIGGS

now down to eight, thanks to connections for making it a little easier. Synchronised-7-1-well handicapped and if he gets round will win. Price short enough though. Black Appalachi-33-1-Sound form and 3lb better than 2nd in 2010. but 2 years older. hmmmm Junior-11-1-the story horse, cheltanham Ascot, National Winner? According to Pete -28-1 - ran tremendous racers this year Always Right - 28-1looked like he would have waltzed past Giles Cross and if palate op has worked well he will win Killyglen -16-1-6lb less than last year when he looked likely winner. Will he remeber experience as good or bad ? Becauseicouldntsee- 20-1-ran well at Cheltenham and 2nd behind ante post fav Prince de Beucherne Giles Cross -10-1 -stand out at bottom of handicap, pity no o'reagan

I need closure Father please tell me how it ended, I read down to 8, that can't be it unless you're ending it on the Orient Express where they all did it.

    Hi all

Well you will see hardly any of my 14, 10 or 8 horses finished.

Now let that be a lesson to all of you, dont back a horse mentioned by Father V when he tips them they always lose.

Really sad about Synchronised, he was trying to tell them something, and According to Pete, who was going so well until brought down. Thats twice now poor old Clare has done an indepth  special on a horse and it has had to be put down. Lifes a bu gger

Yes very sad about the 2 horses, I know hindsight is easy but I never thought Synchronised way of jumping would suit National Fences and According to Pete was just one of those incidents that we have to accept if we continue to love this great sport.

Personally I don't think the modifications help safety as they allow jockeys to take more chances at the fences and therefore go faster, I think the speed and the size of the fences causes the deaths of alot of horses - I'm sure there weren't as many deaths in the Red Rum era and the calibre of horses running weren't always as high.

Anyway off my soap box and I did manage a second and fourth. Father I think if McCoy rode Sunnyhill it would of won as personally I didn't think the jockey gave him a great ride in the straight, though I could be talking through my pocket. What do you think?

"Now Neptune, well he is 5lb worse off with GC on trial running when GC beat him on heavy and I think he ran a he ll uva race that day. I cant see him repeating it and I take it Ruby had choice of riding him.
    So summing up."

My comment a week before the race which is why I didnt go for him. If I had he wouldnt have won LOL.

Well done kalooki8 and dont worry about your soapbox. I agree. The National has to be run or it doesnt that is the argument. you will never modify to take risk out. Synchronised broke his leg running free not at Bechers and According to Pete was brought down and here I agree with kalooki.

Modifications- fences easier-more speed, more horses standing and causing problems ie canal turn. Compressed handicap means most horses close together unlike in old days when they were covered by five furlongs.

All you have to see is that there were more jockeys unseated and horses brought down than fallers and my above points lead to that.

As I said you either ban the National or run it. Run it is obviously my option and however you modify you wont please the animal rights people who just dont see that these horses wouldnt have alife at all if Horse racing banned.
