"....Got tickets for St Andrews on Boxing Day...."

You have a round of golf booked @ St Andrews on Boxing Day?

    Wrap up warm.

    :)

She can be hard work but going to Scotland to avoid her would be a tad extreme

Resigned to the fact that Derby have guaranteed a minimum of play-offs now, and are always a couple of wins away from being pretty much nailed on top 2...

It's a lovely feeling when a group of players just click... probably only injuries will give Forest a chance to even run you close now :(

Shakin, don't worry about all that. Just take solace in the fact you can still dine out on 'Zamoraaaaaaaa' for at least a few more months.

Volume is an issue for me. I'm way too lazy. So I'm starting my new year challenge to myself early. From today 6000 dyms next year. Average stake £20 Priority this month and then 10 out of 12 months next year. Sounds thrilling eh!

    Ta for birthday wishes.
Unfortunately Poker didn't seem to realise that it was my birthday.  Friday night going into Saturday morning ended up being my biggest losing night at poker in the 10+ years that I've been playing online.

The next bit should probably go in bb&v and so it might be best to scroll down a bit if you can be bothered to read any more of this.

Over the last 4 weeks I've struggled with the game more than at any time that I can remember. Mtt exits have been horrible. I went out of both the rebuys on Wednesday within a minute of each other. In the main, after I had raised pre, bet flop, bet turn, my opponent shoved all in with zero fold equity on paired and flushing board with a gutshot and  got there. in the mini I 3bet shoved 15bigs and my opponent snapped with K9.

Dyms have been frightening. I've put the volume in and so the variance normally starts to even out. I've just had weird stuff happening. Getting shoves called with 10 8 etc. It has really got to the point where I have just felt that it's almost impossible for me to win.

Friday night was the most brutal yet. Nothing went right. There's one good reg who recently seems to play every hand against me. Why not? he's winning every one. I have AK he has KQ gg me etc. Last couple of games, a £55 and a £33 summed it up for me. On the bubble in both. I get AK in the sb and shove at 200/400 for 2100. The bb tanks and then calls with 64off from a 2800 stack. Please don't anyone say that I want the call there. This is a Dym, taking the blinds here is far preferable to having to win at showdown when i'm only 60/40. In the other one there was great news. Short stack shoves and the bb snapped with Aces. K7 makes a straight on the river. A minute later I shove aces and bubble.

I played a lot of cash as well. First hand of the night and I lose a £100 pot. QQ for me in bb v buttons AK. Don't mind that one. I then lost with aces 5 out of 6 times. All in pre flop on 4 occasions and the other one I called an all in on the turn on a K high board and KQ hit another K on the river. Twice I made disguised back door flushes on the river. Twice they had the nut flush. £174 and £102 pots. Set over set 3 times as well.

I went to bed a little miffed. Good job I didn't post straight after session, It would be an even bigger moan :)
The past few weeks have been really tough. All confidence gone and huge doubts about my game. I know full well that i'm very average at mtts and cash but dyms have always been my goto game when things aren't going well. To be losing badly at them has got me worried. Maybe it's just me but I guess it happens to everyone? My stats stand up pretty well at mtts and dyms but after a bad month i'm left wondering if I've just got lucky in the past and I'm going to become a big losing player.

I got a grip of myself on Saturday morning and stopped feeling sorry for myself. I 've had a bad month at poker, so what? I've still had a very good year overall and made a decent amount of cash. Also in the scheme of things one bad losing night at poker means buggger all. I listened on the radio to the story of the poor Sudanese(sp) man who died on the M25. A lad at work around my age has just been diagnosed wiith a very serious illness.

I really should count my blessings. I've a very nice life right now.

Maybe things are also starting to turn pokerwise. When I returned from the pub last night I made the wise decision to load up a few tables. I ran pretty well for an hour and made just over a £100. The 3 hours I played on Saturday morning were somehow enough for me to get a £100 in the promotion. Funny how I hadn't even looked at the days promotion and got in the top 50 whereas the other day I played for 9 hours in the SNG promotion and bubbled it. I got another £20 on one of the other days and rewards points have been pretty good. This has all helped me recover a bit of the cash I lost the other night and so that's pleasing.

Once again I've decided to stop posting for a while after this one. Forums, facebook etc can take up too much time and a break is required. As an incentive to myself not to post I've come up with a plan. If anyone catches me posting on here again this month then they are entitled to punch me in the face at Newcastle. If I do fail at least Hhyftdrr wouldn't be the only one getting a black eye up there.

    Run well everyone.

Long time reader - don't often post but as long as you CAN keep things in perspective (and obvs not loose more than you can afford) life's a breeze!   Don't stop posting tho, it can be cathartic & we all enjoy reading. You are obvs a good player & poker variance has just sack tapped you. Chin-up.

When you've put as much time and effort into an alias as I have, yes, every letter counts.

Well, when I see that even the establishment want to launch me, I consider the chances of me getting a slap at Newcastle must be pretty high.
So I may as well post again.

There may have been the odd chunter from me this month about poker. Before the weekend I was a good chunk down. Now, courtesy of a little live bink and some drunk cash, I'm a good chunk up. Must stop the moaning. There are 2 or 3 people that I talk to about poker and how they've put up with me over the last 6 weeks I'll never know. Thanks a lot to them. I'll try and stop it now.
    ...
Looked on with interest the comments about the Russian Roulette guys and how daft they were. I'm not so sure. Lets say I get together with JimRiddle7. We play 103 £50 Russian Roulettes. We split the money. We pay £515 in rake and get a phone worth more than that. We also get a load of rakeback and we're well on our way to priority and some decent freerolls. Also, I get to look on in awe as Jimmy correctly informs me of each and every river card before it's dealt.
    ...
Sky are understandably getting some stick this morning. It wasn't good last night. We should have a bit of balance though. I've looked through the forum and for some reason I can't find the threads that say what an amazing promotion they have put on this month. They've clearly tried very hard to find a way that will give everyone a chance. Without too much effort, I've made £220 out of it this month. They've given away a serious amount of money.
    ...

I bumped into a lad yesterday who was probably my best friend growing up. Unfortunately, as has been the case on the few occasions that we have seen each other over the last 20 years we just about nodded to each other.
His name was either "Bully" or "FatBull", either worked just fine. I did use to cringe a little when he rang me and my Dad would shout up to me "Paul, FatBull on the phone"

I loved Bully. He was thick as pigshit, tubby and had an impossibly high pitched voice.

I used to go to the casino with him. As I sat there for hours on end at the blackjack tabling slowly losing £25,  he'd sit at the bar drinking. Every so often he'd walk over and chuck down £20 on a box, invariably get Blackjack, chuckle to himself and wander back to the bar and order another drink.

His rungood wasn't confined to casinos either. We went to Ibiza. We hired a car and I hadn't got my license and so he drove. After the scariest 10 minutes of our lives we came to the decision that it would be a bigger gamble for him to continue driving  than me driving without a license. We drove down to the beach the 1st day as it was a good 600 yards or so away from our hotel. Not quite sure why we drove, possibly something to do with looking cool. Our wheels were a lime green corsa.

We went in the sea and when we packed up to go I rhetorically asked him if he had the car keys. I had left them in my shorts when we went in the sea. He said that we'd just go back in and find them. I said something like "lol" and sat there with my head in my hands. 5 minutes later FatBull emerges triumphantly from the sea. "Get in you little fighter" he cries holding the keys.

Alas FatBull didn't run so well with the ladies. At 20 he had as much experience with them as he had at 10. None.
We cheered one night as he came into the pub and excitedly told us that he'd met a old bird who was gaggin for it.
    "Name?"
    "Joan" okay
    "Age?"
    "err 52" okaayyy
    "She's a Grandma as well"

Over the next few weeks he had the time of his life and there was plenty of good natured banter which he enjoyed. One night I said something that wasn't particulary complimentary about Joan and he exploded.
"You xxxx, she's right about you lot, you're all bastardds. I love her and iIm moving in with her. And he did. He went to live with her at her place in another part of Derby and that was the last we saw of him.
It actually makes me a bit sad thinking about it. He was a great guy and it was a shame to fall out.

It makes me sadder still to think that if he's still with her, then one of my mates girlfriends is 71. I'm definitely getting old :)

    Have a great Christmas everyone
