after some bad luck in tournaments where although i shoved on the bubble i just managed to avoid going out until after the bubble so won £6 in a £750BH i went on a cash session and all i can say about that is boy were the tables filled with maniacs tonight the way they went i got +£5.81, -£1.15 +£12.93 +18p, +£20.98 -£4.20 -48p +94p and-£4.23 so overall i gained 30.69 the big winnings and losses with my hands were £10.36 £5.45 £4 £3-£4 5 hands £2-£3 2 hands as for losses well they were £6.31 £4.25 £3-£4 3 hands £2.52 my bankroll is now £205.50 these two hands show better than them all as to just how maniac the tables were tonight

the villians A and B have just seen my action from that hand where i held QQ i now do a raise here and get reraised but that still doesn't stop these maniacs from shoveing with rubbish so in just a couple of minutes i go from £11 to £28
in 1 and 1/2 hours of play things haven't changed much i lost £5 my hands were losses of 4.06 £2.70 £2.18 £1-£2 4 hands the wins were £4.66 £3.21 £2-£3 2 hands £1-£2 4 hands
another after what has been another day of play my bankroll has finished on £186 as for tournaments well i will attempt to not bother playing until the ukops are starting where i might join the minis. with cash it is much easier to know when to call and when to fold and i don't find it so hard to be concerned about my chips as i can easily top up again. of course sometimes i need much more luck too with tournaments.
one thing i do wonder is weather i should be having a break between my tournament play and cash games and it comes after the way i treated these hands both were JJ hand one when i reraised the guy after shoved and the origional villian called so what i thought was does he have a premium pair or Ax should i call or fold but i decided to fold and well i did the right thing but probably should have called and knowing he only calls with QQ he might have folded after the K was out on the turn

tournaments are much more varied with hands than even the micro stakes also the aggression is much bigger
today was not my day as i lost really heavy overall my total losses come to over £50 and my bankroll is £150 nearly everytime i was calling or making shoves i ended up going behind even when the villian had the smallest of outcomes

in this hand i should have known that it was a straight he would hold why else would he call a min bet then donk when i have check raised
where have you been losing at? is it nl10? is it tourneys?
i ask because you posted in the nl4 challenge thread that you won at nl4 over the week. i remember reading that you were around the £300 mark at one point. i think you may be at a critical point with your bankroll. it would be too easy to tilt buyin to games hoping for a score to recover some of the losses, even if its a few 5er games it soon goes and before you know it your below the ton mark.
it might be worthwhile to take a step back and get back to basics. stick to just nl4 build some of it back up, regain some confidence, which i think your lacking atm and go from there.

hi craig, you've got the game and you've got the heart, that's for sure. tintin's right, maybe take a step back, play a couple of tables less, and get that b/roll moving forwards again mate. i know you can do it.just keep your focus, and plan ahead for the long term, that's where the real money is. b/roll management is very important mate, and as long as you can play well within it,then you'll be fine. gl
i have to admit it seems to be tournaments were i am loosing my bankroll and TBH i am shocked with the no. of times i loose a coin flip here is a some of the hands

i think myself that considering the amount of bad luck i get in the MTT i don't even know why i bother. my only guess is that with cash tables most people know my playing style now so things like cbets will get more to fold even though they might be ahead, also nl4p does lack aggressive play big style so it is easy to read then because if i see a big bet made i will know i am beat most times. this hand proves the very thing

so i think the truth is i can't seem to work out a playing style for tournaments because if i am too tight then my chips drain while i keep waiting and with hands like AK KQ if i miss then i feel lost with where to go from their. i probably have too much pressure on myself. i can still manage 6 cash tables easy.
Just to add something else I have thought of, that last hand. Not beyond the realms of possibility he had a broadway cards or suited cons above sevens. The flop bet looked so weak its worth calling (stack size - was probably not the best of players either). If that made a flush draw on the turn then he may have been inclined to shove - especially given your bet sizing isnt really telling a consistant story.
You know what some shortstackers are like, they just want to get it over and done with.
Im calling there, would love to hear what other people would have done post flop, Tintin specifcally.
pre good, flop really bad, turn im not sure prob best to fold with the way youve played it.
really dont understand your flop bet, what are you wanting to acheive with betting so low? scared of the 7? trying to induce a raise? ive seen you do these under bets on the flop a lot lately. you go on about the opponents some times with their strange betting patterns and not betting strong holdings but you are going down the same route.
if your bet was because you were scared of the 7 then why bet the turn, going to c/c mode would have been better, you know a lot of players wont bet it properly and if they throw out a comendy 8p bet or so its so easy to call and evaluate the river.
put a proper c bet on the flop, theres lots more hands that will call than just 7x. the turn is where it gets a little tricky since it fills in a straight as well. depending on my mood i will carry on betting strongly or i will slow down and go into check call mode. if i carry on betting im probably betting/calling off the rest of the stack. if i c/c then im looking to pot control it a little. as said some opponents will bet small here then pot the river (normally a tell) so you can get to the river cheap and evaluate there.
as played i think youve made a mess of the hand post flop. because of this the fold was probably right but you need to answer why you made the bets you did
what i was thinking with that last hand is if i were to bet large on the flop the chances are he would fold i have started to change my way because i find it a regular thing that now villians will fold if they have not got a strong hand so all i thought was with it being a paired board but no flush or straights likely a big bet and they would fold. when i did a 12p bet here this villian still folded
after such a bad weekend things could be turn round again as with a good session this evening where tables got me +£2.78 +£4.40 +£1.17 and +£2.91 the only losses were -0.68p and -0.88p the hands got £5.14 £3.93 £3.44 £1-£2 5 hands only 3 losses occured they were £2.01 £1.47 £1.12
thing didn't go quite so well tonight with a few unlucky hands overall i did swap a few tables and the outcomes were +81p +70p -£1.30 -£7.31 +92p +28p +£1.34 -8p that -7.31 was caused largely because of this donk getting his lucky river

of course sometimes i need much more luck too with tournaments.
one thing i do wonder is weather i should be having a break between my tournament play and cash games and it comes after the way i treated these hands
both were JJ
hand one
when i reraised the guy after shoved and the origional villian called so what i thought was does he have a premium pair or Ax should i call or fold but i decided to fold and well i did the right thing but probably should have called and knowing he only calls with QQ he might have folded after the K was out on the turn
nearly everytime i was calling or making shoves i ended up going behind even when the villian had the smallest of outcomes
well today has not been such a lucky day for me and overall i have lost £14 and my BR is now £137
i ask because you posted in the nl4 challenge thread that you won at nl4 over the week. i remember reading that you were around the £300 mark at one point. i think you may be at a critical point with your bankroll. it would be too easy to tilt buyin to games hoping for a score to recover some of the losses, even if its a few 5er games it soon goes and before you know it your below the ton mark.
it might be worthwhile to take a step back and get back to basics. stick to just nl4 build some of it back up, regain some confidence, which i think your lacking atm and go from there.
Are you playing up levels still? Or just staying at 2p 4p?
you've got the game and you've got the heart, that's for sure.
tintin's right, maybe take a step back, play a couple of tables less, and get that b/roll moving forwards again mate.
i know you can do it.just keep your focus, and plan ahead for the long term, that's where the real money is.
b/roll management is very important mate, and as long as you can play well within it,then you'll be fine.

i have to admit it seems to be tournaments were i am loosing my bankroll and TBH i am shocked with the no. of times i loose a coin flip here is a some of the hands
my only guess is that with cash tables most people know my playing style now so things like cbets will get more to fold even though they might be ahead, also nl4p does lack aggressive play big style so it is easy to read then because if i see a big bet made i will know i am beat most times.
this hand proves the very thing
i probably have too much pressure on myself.
i can still manage 6 cash tables easy.
And that last hand....it proved nothing seeing as you didnt see his cards.....
Why are you betting 12p at a 40p pot with aces?!?! Thats so backwards when contrasted against the way you played top pair jack kicker in the toruney.
Pot bet, bet again on the turn and get it in. I think you have developed a mild case of monsters under the bed syndrome.
You know what some shortstackers are like, they just want to get it over and done with.
Im calling there, would love to hear what other people would have done post flop, Tintin specifcally.
pre good, flop really bad, turn im not sure prob best to fold with the way youve played it.
really dont understand your flop bet, what are you wanting to acheive with betting so low? scared of the 7? trying to induce a raise? ive seen you do these under bets on the flop a lot lately. you go on about the opponents some times with their strange betting patterns and not betting strong holdings but you are going down the same route.
if your bet was because you were scared of the 7 then why bet the turn, going to c/c mode would have been better, you know a lot of players wont bet it properly and if they throw out a comendy 8p bet or so its so easy to call and evaluate the river.
put a proper c bet on the flop, theres lots more hands that will call than just 7x. the turn is where it gets a little tricky since it fills in a straight as well. depending on my mood i will carry on betting strongly or i will slow down and go into check call mode. if i carry on betting im probably betting/calling off the rest of the stack. if i c/c then im looking to pot control it a little. as said some opponents will bet small here then pot the river (normally a tell) so you can get to the river cheap and evaluate there.
as played i think youve made a mess of the hand post flop. because of this the fold was probably right but you need to answer why you made the bets you did
when i did a 12p bet here this villian still folded
+£4.40 +£1.17 and +£2.91 the only losses were -0.68p and -0.88p
the hands got
£5.14
£3.93 £3.44
£1-£2 5 hands
only 3 losses occured
they were
£2.01
£1.47
£1.12
thing didn't go quite so well tonight with a few unlucky hands overall i did swap a few tables and the outcomes were +81p +70p -£1.30 -£7.31 +92p +28p +£1.34 -8p
that -7.31 was caused largely because of this donk getting his lucky river
the bigs were
3.43 3.17
2.12
£1-£2 4 hands
the losses were
£4.13
£2.08
£1-£2 3 hands
my bankroll is £113.18
well after have so much bad luck this afternoon where i was not even able to survive from villians who needed the turn and river card
things could be turning round again now as i have just have a much better session tonight i did suffer two losses on the tables but that was easily made up with my winnings
the tables got me +£7.30 +£2.03 +£1.66 +£2.15 and +£3.33
the two losses were -£2.66 and -£4.49
my bankroll is £106.73
the big winning hands got me
£7.24
£3.77
£3.28
£2-£3 2 hands
£1-£2 3 hands
losses were
£1-£2 8 hands
all i can say to tintin and riverman is you should ask for advice from that donkey above who shove with K10 on how he manages to get the the cards he needs on the turn and river to beat my sets
