In Response to Re: craigcu12 diary : bet the flop build the pot and definately raise that river Posted by bearlyther
it's ok saying that but with these tables betting is so poor and time and time again with bets all i expect to happen is the villian will either fold or jam right away. why else would that villian fold in the hand which i posted to help with larsons question on AQ when he has already raised just because i jammed after he can't expect me to hold a set for sure and this one too i would never have expected him to hold a flush and should be been made to call a jam made by the villian nbut i wouldn't have been expected to do it myself and loose to his flush soTBH i wish i did just call the first bet thinking he would just fold.
Unlucky craig in the hand. You can bet the turn, you are still getting called all the way. Posted by LARSON7
all i was thinking was he would just fold and was just another villian who bets with the a high. if anything i should have raised the flop rather than just call because he might hold a K but if he did i could have tried representing AK or AA and well jam on the turn with my QQQ but today was not a day for me in poker because i was tired. what i mean by better so poor is it is so easy for me to bluff hands. why would a villian with JJJ have waited until the flush has come and why would a villian who raised my previous bet then fold just because i then ship the rest. why would this villian bet but fold when i raise to what most would call a blank so my hand strength has not changed really

you have probably seen so of the awful hands i have still managed to win thanks to easy bluff. as for today well i lost heavy and that QQQ hand would have been jammed for sure because i could not see him holding any heart flush draw even if i bet the turn.
maybe it is better having villian who fold easy because although it can make things get boring post flop atleast these sort of things are unlikely to happen. i might be unlucky but don't really care about it because i want the set to call and in the end he did the brave thing knowing that i could easily have just a As Ks or Qs
Hey Craig, how's it going? What's ya bankroll at these days?
One thing I got told a lot while I was learning is that (especially at these levels) you have to stop assuming that people are gonna make good decisions against you. Like don't not raise in a certain situation because you think to yourself 'if I was him and got raised, I'd only call with X, Y and Z'. Just because you know you should only call with some hands, it doesn't mean other people won't happily call a raise with 3rd pr.
EDIT: The above hand with AKs, nh, well played. We all get unlucky some times but good to flat the flop raise and good to check the turn and let him hang himself.
today things went very well for me both tournament and cash although i went out early in the mini i decided that because i didn't register for the mini on friday or thursday i entered another BH and managed to finish second i will write how it went tomorrow. As for my cash tables today the finish in a way where more tables with losses still didn't get me losses overall the loosing tables were 14p 35p 37p 39p £1.63 £1.64 £1.81 £2.73 £3.18 £3.45 £4.42 £4.63 and £5.37 the profits from the tables were 12p 38p 84p 96p £3.74 £4.34 £4.82 £5.56 £6.07 £8.22 and £10.20 the hands today started badly but were build larger during the night the winning hands got £4.07 £3-£4 4 hands £2-£3 8 hands £1-£2 21 hands the losses were £4.88 £3-£4 4 hands £2-£3 2 hands £1-£2 14 hands atleast i got a caller with this set
the hand below annoyed me the most and why i called it only i can answer he makes a 16p bet preflop but on the flop he bets 8p so i decide to raise then out of no where he makes a pot size bet and and looking at the size of the gaps and with the flush draw the only draw he had to have AQ KK AA or a set.

sometimes i think to myself if being OOP is better than being in position too because with being OOP i will have alreadyu done my value bet so if i see a raise then i know i am behind where as being in position i will be facing 4p bets which leaves me thinking will he call if i raise will i scare him or will he then shove which is just what this villian did
what i have been thinking with myself is i must6 be a nit to most so went with a change of playing style more like a loose aggressive villian. here is another two hands which i think are why they must think i am a nit so i raise on the button he then goes with a bet on the flop so i raise it and right away he folds as if i have got the better hand for sure

and this hand too the villian checks the river after betting the flop and turn when all the river brought was another blank so basically he is only really behind to KJ or a set

Loose aggressive = good
Loose passive = very bad
There's nothing aggressive abuot flat calling the button, if you wanna be loose aggressive then 3bet the button there.
Personally I just fold pre, but just calling with some junk hands doth not make a loose aggressive player.
today i decided to try a early session and it seemed to be more relaxing to play. what i am thinking is the unregular villian are more worried about if they loose their money and are no able to play anymore so play a more passive style. TBH i was like that myself in the first year of poker. as for my tables from my first session i got +93p +£3.91 and +£8.06 the losses were -£5.01 -17p -£4.25 and -£1.73 overall i am +£1.74 so far today. the hands wins £3.76 £2.61 £2.57 £2.20 £1-£2 12 hands the losses were £3-£4 3 hands £2-£3 4 hand £1.88 and £1.25 sometimes i just went for it knowing that i have most already in
Hi Craig, you seem to be making a fair few assumptions of how people will play, as your first comment in the latest post indicates. I play very little cash so don't have much to add but be careful of assuming you have an image and going crazy with 9 2 and J 2 as you can really make life hard for yourself.
First hand with the KQcc there, I'd prefer to see you make more of the equity on the flop, you probably get the same outcome this time but longer term you want the money in before the turn bricks out, not after.
things today didn't change much for me with my cash total finishing as an extra 4p as for my bankroll that is £137.04. their is one hand in the poker clinic relating to how i managed to allow AJ to call the most dangerous of rivers and what i could have done better that would have make him fold it is easy to say it is a BH so heads too good to ignore for some but i don't think he had any heads before mine so i couldn't see him chase a head prize too easily .
things this morning didn't change my BRE much. the cash table got me £1.65 37p £2.46 -3.73 -2p and -16p one hand that i was glad to give river punishment to was this maniac (the normal term for these villians.

maybe i should just stick to tournament with this sort of playing style
The first 2 hands, QQ and KK I would have checked the flops too If I was trying not to win money that is Yet you started the post claiming to have an aggressive style. Have I missed something? were you trying to be ironic??????? Posted by calcalfold
what i was saying was that set of aces not only checked the flop but also the turn so me on the button bet with the set just give up and decided to bet which suddenly he raises but only min raises so i go for a shove.
Comments
why else would that villian fold in the hand which i posted to help with larsons question on AQ when he has already raised just because i jammed after he can't expect me to hold a set for sure
and this one too i would never have expected him to hold a flush and should be been made to call a jam made by the villian nbut i wouldn't have been expected to do it myself and loose to his flush soTBH i wish i did just call the first bet thinking he would just fold.
No reason to check that, ever, ever
And with regards this
"with these tables betting is so poor and time and time again with bets all i expect to happen is the villian will either fold or jam right away."
I cannot even start to explain how illogical that comment is
And your play was worse than villains at the business end of this hand, a lot worse
what i mean by better so poor is it is so easy for me to bluff hands.
why would a villian with JJJ have waited until the flush has come and why would a villian who raised my previous bet then fold just because i then ship the rest.
why would this villian bet but fold when i raise to what most would call a blank so my hand strength has not changed really
as for today well i lost heavy and that QQQ hand would have been jammed for sure because i could not see him holding any heart flush draw even if i bet the turn.
