    Good evening,

    Week 8 Update - 2/3 targets hit

    - Play at least 40 tournaments
X Eat in an 8 hour period each day (5/7 days I eat within an eight hour period)
    - Workout 5 times

    No gain/loss (overall -6lbs)

Played 59 tournaments. The most I've played in a week since I started this. Also, better results than the previous two weeks.

    Weekly result +£122.25 (Overall +£1006.15)

It's good to get over the £1k line. I've been sticking to £7.70 games and below for a while but I'll start playing some of the higher buy-ins soon. A few weeks back I said I'll review the weekly updates at the start of March and maybe move to a monthly recap. This is what I'll do now. I think have the process in place to hit the end goals at Day 147 (January 6th - June 1st), so I'll try midterm targets and see how I get on.

The end goals with current progress in brackets:

    [ ] Play 1,000 tournaments (375 played)
[ ] Average ROI of 25%+ (Don't have a Sharkscope subscription yet to know)
    [ ] Weigh 159 pounds or less (179 pounds)

    March targets will be:

    [] 200 tournaments
[] Weight 175 pounds or less

I'm a little late to the party, forgive me, but that's premium grade punnage there which whooshed me completely at the time.

    March recap

A lot can happen in a month.

Other than to say I am fortunate to be able to work from home as things are, I will keep the update related to the goals in this thread.

    The goals were:
    - 200 tournaments
X Weigh 175 pounds or less

I didn't hit the weight target but I am down to my lowest weight of the year at 178lbs (-7lbs overall).

In terms of poker results it was a case of good week - meh week - good week - meh week.

Week 9: +£510.28 from 57 tournaments. This was the first week I hadn't planned to give a weekly update. Coincidence it was my best week to date in the challenge? Probably.

Week 10: +£36.28 from 5 tournaments. This week was mostly spent watching horses run and jump fences.

Week 11: +£323.75 from 66 tournaments. My second best week of the challenge. Still a coincidence? Maybe.

    Week 12: +£26.22 from 64 tournaments.

The above totalled with the previous two days play resulted in +£929.86 from 200 tournaments played. (Overall +£1936.01 from 575 tournaments played).

I kept to the same buy-ins, mostly £5.50 or lower throughout the month. I am pleased with the results so far but there is a little temptation to move up in stakes.

The goals will be the same for April:

    - 200+ tournaments
    - weigh 175lbs or less

    Stay safe all

I'm a little devastated, I love Snooker and the title of the thread led me down the wrong path.

Ended up reading the thread anyway though, nice work!

Thanks Tikay. Progress has stagnated lately following a few failed shots in UKOPs tourneys however.

    Haha :D

I think the title was click bait for other snooker enthusiasts too.

    Thanks for reading.

    Good afternoon,

On account of an upswing in results recently, I'll give an update on how things are going.

At the start of the month I took out a 14 day trial of Holdem Resource Calculator in anticipation of moving up stakes this month. I don't work on my game much, other than to think hands through and occasionally run a few hands past a mate. Previously when I've worked on my game, it would lead to an immediate downswing, which I put down to mis-applying concepts. With that in mind, I thought just working on the numbers using a calculator would be a good place to start. This may just be coincidence, as results weren't too bad prior to using this tool, but the past three nights, I've had a trio of wins:

    - Friday night was my biggest score to date in this challenge, £200 for winning the 17:30 £5.50 BB.
    - Saturday night I exceeded that, £290 for winning the 20:15 £11 BB.
    - Last night's win smashed both results with £1195 for winning the mini Major.

Unlike some who can relay their play/thoughts throughout the tournament, I cannot do the same. I only play a max of 6 tables at a time but recalling hands in each particular tournament is mostly a blur. The most pressing thought I had with around 30 or so players left was looking at the prize distribution and thinking I need a 7th here to save the session. Earlier, I had took a few shots and missed in the £110 Major, £33 BB & £22 Mega stack BB. By the time I was on the final table, I was in a position of free rolling on the night and one tabling, which allowed me to recall a few spots. I don't think it is fair to share too much information on hole cards of opponents, so I will recap the hands as vaguely as I can. First few orbits I was mostly 'card/situation dead' and my stack had melted to around 7bb before the SB shoved into my A3s in the BB. I was a 60-40 favourite and held. The same opponent put me in a quite a tough spot a few hands later (shown below). Heads up, fellow snooker enthusiast @goldnballz, was unlucky to be coolered in a situation where I think I lose my stack if hands are reversed as well.

Below is the hand I mentioned above. I've not played much against the opponent that I recall but from the hands I had seen to this point, I had the impression this player wasn't afraid to put their chips in light. Looking back on it now, it probably looks a routine call down for some, and for others, a routine 3bet all-in pre, but at the time, being a FT hand, it got me thinking.

We unblock his diamond draws, and turn straight draws, block a rivered A5 straight, I didn't think there would be many two pair combos, which left a 65-straight, Tens, sets and overpairs I was behind to. The river sizing didn't scream of a really strong hand, and given the price, and I am high up in my range, I thought the call was okay. Whether my play was the wrong decision with the right result or an okay call down against said player type, I am not sure.

As for the remainder of the challenge, I am into the final quarter, having played 755 out of the 1,000 tournament target. No specific targets other than to get over the line before the 147 days is up on June 1st. One target I had been considering going into May was to get a mention on Tikay's daily write ups, but I've covered that one now :)

    Stay safe.

    Good evening,

    April recap

A brief update having detailed the highlight of the month in the previous post.

Hit one of the two targets:

X Weigh 175lbs or less (stayed the same: 178lbs)
    - Play 200+ tournaments (Played 237)

It was a heck of a month in terms of results. I won a few more tourneys as well as the ones above, which resulted in me being +£2278.76 (overall +£4214.77 from 812 tournaments).

This is the last month of the challenge and the target is still to play 1,000+ tournaments.

    May targets:

    - Play 188+ tournaments
    - Weigh 175lbs or less

    Stay safe.
