if you enjoy Primedmind, then Headspace will also be a good addition.

great idea about writing down your thoughts about the sessions. I journal daily and my results have improved considerably since I started the habit.

    good luck

its good to study and improve your game,

for me its something I do when ime not playing poker,

when your at the tables playing ,just enjoy the game [win or lose] if you are playing with money set aside for poker, winning or losing shouldn't affect you to much.

don't give bad beats/outdraws a second thought, its just part of the game, and the worse thing you can do imo is let them influence your play.

    good luck

You don't think poker is a game of skill, so why would you waste time studying?

You might as well study the lottery.

hhy, studying helps me make less bad decisions when ime playing poker in the future,

yes I think poker is a game of chance, the same as blackjack or roullete, you see lots of players making mistakes at blackjack and roulette if they were to study/learn those games more ,it would stop them making so many mistakes, doesn't mean just because its a game of chance, that theres nothing to learn.

As a former "card counter", there is definitely skill in blackjack. Roulette? The main mistake people make is thinking that there is any skill in playing it :)

their are some mistakes to be made in roulette or atleast their would be based on how Balvinder Sambhi did. Maybe mad monk is this very person, he's been banned from the casinos therefore he's trying his magical skills online.

People who believe Mr Sambhi also believe you if you tell them the word "gullible" is not in the Oxford English dictionary.

His "secret theory" was a plot line in an old comedy show. The "martingale" may well be the first pyramid scheme.

The only true skill is casinos giving false hope that the game can be beaten, while continuing to win

mistakes at roullete ,been in the bookies many a time, watching people put £20 on in one go,and spreading the money in such a way, that only one or two numbers can give them a small profit return, the rest if they hit lose them money, and if a number comes up they are not on they lose the lot,

mistakes at blackjack, seen many players sitting on the end seat on a blackjack table, taking cards they shouldn't [to the annoyance of the rest of the table] when they should not be taking a card.

so if you study roulette and blackjack theres ways to play that reduces the casinos advantage, they both still a game of chance though, same as poker.

My run on nl4 in this month has been excellent, I've made roughly £100 this month which is more than my intended aim. A profit like that is a good thing but what I've liked best about this run on nl4 was the way I handle my mental game. I had made a loss of 200-300BB on a few occassions but those losing days didn't last long because the very next day I was able to get back to winning ways again and couldn't even remember a thing.

I use to be able to remember bad beats and big losses off by heart after a session but now I remember the times I got it in and won more than the times I've got it in and lost. The losses on the day might annoy me but the very next day I'll start to question my own play and discover how much of it was down to bad play.

I was intending to play just 4 tables the whole month but in the last fortnight I've been playing 12. The great thing about 12 tabling is it give my mental game a real test. I started off playing with the hand selection I was using when 4 tabling, on day 1 I came out with a profit but on day 2 I would get a loss, on the day of the loss I thought alot of it was down to luck but the next day I deleved a little deeper and questioned my own hand selection. One of the thing I read in the mental game of poker book was adult learnin model which describes the 4 levels of learning. Playing 12 tables without a time bank means I'll not have much thinking time, what I did following day 2's bad run was limit myself to only play hands which I can play at a level4 of the adult learning model unconicous incompetence, I'd then start to add hands which are at level 3. I now have a great idea of which hands I can play without any thought, which hands I have an understand how to play with a bit thought and which hands to work on next.

I was hoping to return to the tournaments tomorrow but the the world championship darts and football is on so i'll remain on nl4 for the rest of this year and start the tournaments from new year

Hi Craig, I just saw your thread, I had a stroke a few years ago,so I know how hard it can be to cope with emotional stress. It looks like you have come a long way toward finding out how to cope with it at the tables. I will be reading "The mental game of poker" and will start a thread about it soon, looks like just what we need. I see that Scotty77 has posted to recommend " headspace" too, he knows what he's talking about does Scotty, so will certainly read that as well, good luck with your return to tournaments, I will be reading your thread too, looks like great read, good luck Craig.

It's the start of 2018 and with that comes new years resolutions.

    My poker resolutions this year
Spend more time away from the table analysing my game.
Do cycle rides on a daily basis therefore I won't be in such a boring mood before playing poker and should feel so much calmer.

My biggest resolution of all is to make tilt a rareity by the end of the year.

My intended target is gonna be £30 per week

My new year has not got off to a very good start at all. Rushing decisions without thought has left me feeling really angry about myself. Tonight provided a great chance for me to take down a tournament as winner, my chip stack grew very big in size early but for some reason I do an extremely stupid call therefore throwing away alot of my stack therefore the 3 premium pairs I had been dealt consistently went to waste having been played in a way that as done to get a double up rather than build up an already big stack.

The effect of this disappointment could be fealt most heavily in the SPT semi when I would be drawning dead most times and tried to gain my chips from loose positional play. My chipstack went from 4000 to 1900, I now fealt like giving up and did some all ins with suited cons and Ax hoping to double up.

I might have made a small loss of cash today but that small loss is something I'll be proud of after what happened over the weekend.
I actually feel like an extremely lucky person because friday evening a power bank which I was charging up, exploded smashing the battery itself into my TV before landing on the carpet where it caused a lot of burns but had I been out the house, on the toilet or in bed those small burns on my carpet could have set fire to my house, the carpet itself did get a small flame which I put out right away.

I have complained about it at the show I purchased the power bank, the will be doing an investigation into the incident so hopefully I will get compensation but what really matters is i was lucky enough to be in the sitting room at the time of the explosion because I could have charged this over night knowing it takes long time to charge up and could have forgot about it at before going to bed leaving it on charge longer than needed.

My poker game today did come to a £10 loss but if you took away all the SPT sats that loss will actually be break even.

I started off with a nice cash out in a timed tournament, I was able to make almost £7 in this tournament. The next tournament I played in was a £500 BH, I was unable to pass the bubble in this one but was very close to it finishing 3 spots away. The 1000 Bh I entered at £6:30 I was able to cash out I finished 27th in this winning £5.49+5.64HP. I wasn't gonna play the mini but because of my great run in those other 2 BH I opted to enter the mini, I did run very well in the mini at 55 I thought to myself the bubble has now burst therefore I shoved my short stack as J9s was called by KJs and lost, I wasn't bothered about the loss but then I noticed no cash was awarded and when I rechecked the lobby I realized the bubble itself didn't actually burst therefore I was left in regret having made a tournament bubble exit because of a silly blunder.

My run in the DTDs didn't go too well, I was suprised to not cash out in DTD 3 having got a very good stack near the time of the bubble but I could also say my run in DTD 2 was a suprise because that one was looking like a one which needed lots of luck and by getting that luck I finished in 13th making a small cash prize

If I didn't have that prime mind on my phone i might not have even played any of these because my motivation at the start was very poor, the minute I logged on I fealt like logging off again and not bothering to play but listening to prime mind before hand made that unmotivated me into a very relaxed and motivated person who went on to final past or near the bubble in 5/7 tournaments the two which failed being the semi and DTD1

Overall -10.22 (10.10 of that loss from SPT sats)

My luck in tournaments at the minute seems to be quite poor, tody I made entry into the £2.20 £100 deep stack at 2:20 and was running very well in it, I was chip leader for the majority of the tournament but all that good luck would be wasted around the bubble when a bad beat causes my 55BB stack to become an 18BB stack before getting busted with JJ against QQ, I did wonder whether I should have called the 3bet pre if not folded but o I opted to go AI and get maximum value from any AK or AQs he might have.

I did do the 6:30 1K BH and 7:15 £100 deep stack but my run in those two didn't last long therefore I called my tournament gaming a day and went on to nl10p cash. If i'm in a good frame and running well in the early evening MTTs I will remain as an MTT player that day and enter the mini but having had early exits in those mid evening MTTs I'd rather spend the rest of my poker evening on nl10 cash where I'll make up the losses I got from those MTTs and that's just what I did.

    MTTs I came -£30.31
    NL10 cash £24.45

My run of MTT poker tonight didn't very long, The 5:30BH and 6:00 semi were both missed although I could have late reg the semi. The one MTT I did play was the 6:30BH but that tournament didn't last long, a very looser caller called my AI shove on flop and got lucky leaving me 5BB. A double up and triple up did get me back to 20BB but my next shove was the last shove.

That tournament was the only tournament I played tonight, the rest of the night I played nl10 cash where I managed to get a good profit thanks to lots of luck and playing an A game performance. My decision making throughout the cash game was good, I always thought of future streets when making and calling bets, I put alot of thought into what hands they might have and what hands they think I might have and I put presssure on any weakness they showed. What i could do on cash poker tonight I didn't seem to do much of at all in MTT poker, Sharing the cash tables with regs who I know, entering raised pots and having the option to 3bet could be the reason for this but then again maybe it's because I am alot more XP in cash game poker than tournament poker

    Overall
    MTT- £5.50
    cash is +£45
