Loads of studying? Not of poker, no.......I've been reading a ton of stuff, have upped my quota to at least 1 book per week, but not poker, no. Mostly business based stuff.

Am reading the story of Alan Mulally at the moment, it's called "American Icon".

Alan was the man who rescued Ford Motor Company from impending bankruptcy. There is an interesting beginning to his career at Ford, where he had been parachuted in to save the ailing business. Several of the incumbent Ford family, & Directors, doubted his ability to save Ford.

"We are in real bad shape Alan, I doubt you can save us".

    Alan shot back, as quick as a flash;

"I was CEO of Boeing Aircraft Company on 9/12/2001 & I managed to survive that & return Boeing to prosperity".

And if you think about it, it's hard to imagine any business could have been in worse shape on that day.

    Amazing guy.

I hope you're getting there Tony. Any plans to get back to poker online or are you waiting for Vegas? I assume you're doing loads of studying during this break? If you had to go out for a meal with either Richard Branson or Miranda, which one would you choose and why?

You have gotta be kidding me, right?

I'm not at all sure I could dine with either of them even if you paid me £1,000.

I have absolutely no idea how Miranda makes a living as a comedian. Anyone who thought Mrs Browns Boys was bad needs to watch 3 minutes - well no, 2 will do - of Miranda. Ugh.

I will say this about her. Anyone with that little talent who can make a really good living deserves all the praise they can get. Can't be easy, that. She is the comedic version of that frumpy singer, Adele.

I do believe you have rescued a few people from impending bankrupcy.

Talking about car making, I saw a documentary about Detroit the capital of America for car making and how it's all gone pear shaped now all the factorys are being taken over by the plants and trees and everywhere is decaying and falling down with a lot of unemployment and vast swaves of run down housing estates, really interesting, which I wouldn't have expected from a city the size of Detroit

It would be very good if this thread could be revived.
    ..
    Btw
Had to search though 20 odd pages to find this thread. I noticed along the way that our friend from earlier is on nearly every page.
    Might be worth a look

Revive my dormant diary? Crikey, not sure I'd ever see that request.

Not sure it would have much readership, but I might give it a go, yes.

I'll take a look at Profanity Pete shortly. There's quite a complex reason why some Banned Member's posts have suddenly re-emerged, essentially the old forum software & the new speak different languages, & use different methods.

In the old Forum, those who lost their chat rights could still post - but nobody except them could actually SEE their posts. Which was rather neat actually - imagine how annoying it must have been to be busy trolling & so on, but getting no reaction. Perfect.

Now, those posts seem to have become visible, so the task of specifically banning - or re-banning - all those who lost their chat rights has to be done. I was asked yesterday if I could remember their names, & I struggled a bit, to be honest.

Overall, I'm pleased with the positives of the new Forum software, (especially the photo quality) but we do have some work to do to get it how we want it, & that may take a little while.

It's amazing how impatient & defeatist some of us are when it's not how we want it to be, "straight out of the box" so to speak.

Anyway, I'd best get on, lot to do today, & the guys who run competitions, & thus need Edit facilities, are getting a bit cross with me. It's not a problem to sort, incidentally, as I have stated several times. At least, I don't think it is. Either way, it won't be the end of the world, but the Holy Grail of pleasing all of the people all of the time remain the impossible goal.

    Not any more.

Thanks for pointing the problem out.

Reading between the lines, I did sort of get the impression that he was not best pleased with Sky Poker. Not much gets past me.

Only reason he asked is so he doesn't have the worst active diary

Agreed. It does seem a big improvement overall and the photo functionality should spice some of the diaries up. Would be good if people posted some photos from future SPT events etc. I am sure any crinkles will be ironed out.

Was pretty pleased with yesterday, which was the second full day of the Forum.

We made some progress on the awkward problems some were having with Spreadsheets thanks to help from Nosey & Marky.

I also set up a few new threads in The Rail to try & rev the place up a bit. Don't think I'd claim it was an overwhelming success, but it was not a failure either, & we got a bit of craic going.

Today has been a bit awkward, as I was AWOL until Midday, (hossie apt), then had some little problems to iron out, both on & off Forum. And of course UKOPS starts tonight.

Not decided yet whether to do UKOPS blogs, but I probably will. If so, I'll do them on the Forum, not as proper blogs.

Tonight I'm going to watch Leeds v Sheffield United, which should be a cracker, & then I'll likely keep an eye on the UKOPS MTT's to see who is doing what.

    Have a good Friday evening.

Decided to dip my toe in the water last night. It's been over 8 months since I last played any PLO8 DYM's, so I expected to be a bit ring rusty. Wrong. Was VERY ring rusty.

    Results first;

    £3.30, P7, W4, L3

    £5.50, P3, W1, L2

    £11, P1, W0, L1

    £16.50 - P1, W1, L0

    So, in total, P12, W6, L6.

Could have been worse I suppose. Allowing for Reg Fees, ended up losing £3.10 on the session. Not bad really, would cost me that to go out for a meal with Gill, or a trip to the Cinema to watch a film.

Good to see so many familiar faces, & as ever, the chat, banter & general warmth was great, & I enjoyed it.

Had 6 tables on the go at several stages, & was struggling a little with focus & concentration, which was the difference between winning & losing I suppose.

    A few new faces, too.

I upped stumps at about 9.30pm as I'd not had any dinner, & anyway, I did not plan on a 30 game session yet awhile.

Slightly annoying, but there were 5 regged for a £16.50 & 5 for an £11 when I finished, & usually I'd want to play those, but I had to draw a line somewhere on my first night back.

I might start later this evening, in the hope of playing a few more of the £11 & £16.50 jobbies.

Don't worry about one bad session, all the hours you have spent on pie solver will stand you in good stead.
