I am definitely on the wagon till the end of February then
Started fairly badly last night at sober DTD, still just can't seem to buy a pot in the early stages - see lots of flops with pairs, connectors and suited aces but hit nothing and whenever I dare to bluff I guess my story doesn't add up and I get called down by bottom pair lol
That pretty much was the story of a couple of £5 and £10 BH games I dipped my toe in as well.
Luckily I can still luckbox my flips with the best of them and after a LOT of folding in DTD1 I got KK with about 15BB and 100-odd runners left and was lucky to double up and go on a bit of a tear.
I *think* it is my first cash in DTD1, I normally get my results in DTD3 where most people either don't enter or have given up and the game is much easier lol
2nd place though, almost respectable, disappointing I couldn't have clung on a bit longer in the other games. Shame that THS had so many runners that us Outlaws could quite knock out enough to have a shot at the monthly table.
We still have the best rail though. TY for the all the banter keeping me awake last night when I should have been asleep hours earlier!!
ps I sort of snap called this because I'd just bust 3rd place with A9 the hand before and had a 'it's meant to be' thought that A9 would be a lucky hand.
With 20BB should I have taken a more cautious approach?
I only ask because this is my 4th HU in MTT during 2015 and my 4th 2nd spot. I think I need to hunt out TeddyBloat's HU guide and play a few HUSNG games for the next time I luckbox a deep MTT run
Meant to post something this morning. Well done on your 2nd place. Don't underestimate going deep and it is more than luck. Anyway, hand above never ever folding. Just a cooler. But definitely look to play some HU matches as that part is a must for MTTs as first is not only important monetary but confidence and that winning feeling. Can't be matched.
I recommend playing the £5 HU BH shuffle tournaments in an evening. You play them deep, mid stacked and then shallow later on. A must.
Another day goes by and I still fail to break my £11 MTT duck... hopefully the law of averages mean I have to at least bink a head prize soon!!
I had actually run up a half decent stack but lost about half of it in the run up to this hand, chasing a bounty with AJ that lost to a shorty with A4 and 3b JJ to see a flop of AKQ and meekly letting QQ and AQ fight out the rest of that hand.
I know the end result would have been the same, but with 20BB what should my sizing be here? Is 500 fine or should I just be shoving?

I had a look at the BH Shuffle last night - am I right that it's not actually a shuffle at all, it's just a straight shoot-out with the winner of each HU game moving on to the next oppo?
How do you think the standard of play compares to HUSNG games?
I started reading TeddyBloats' amazing post in the SNG Strategy after I finished last night and will start playing around with some of those concepts/ideas in games over the weekend.
ps I'm sure from some of the winners names seen in MTTs on Sky, luck certainly plays it's part... I'd be an awesome coach if I could bottle my luckboxing and advise other players how to run as well

Yea it's a straight shootout. I think it's weaker from my experience and definitely worth playing. I intend to play more myself as I have a great record. It's such a good lesson for end game MTT play.
As for hand above I would just shove pre as you will get looked up lightly often enough and it's what you would do with a lot of hands anyway.
Thanks for the messages above, was a strange day yesterday.
I took the call about 6.30 in the evening that my Grandma had died earlier in the afternoon. As noted in some previous posts she hasn't been at all well and been in a care home for the past few months so it wasn't necessarily a shock but obviously still horrible news to hear.
We'd only been down to visit last Saturday, a couple of days after her 92nd birthday, although I'm not sure she even recognised my sister or I and even if she did she wasn't capable of any conversation. I can't work out to articulate without it sounding bad, but for a while now it's not been her, more a shell that looks like my Grandma but sort of isn't... and I know that recently she was suffering really bad physically, to go with the mental pain she's always been very open about since my Grandpa died a few years back.... so although it obviously is horrible for everyone else, I'm sort of happy for her that she isn't in pain any more and (with her being a very committed Christian) now back alongside her hubby.
Ordinarily that would probably lead to me reaching for the whisky and / or full spew at casino games. It's thankfully been a few years since the death of any friends or close family, but that has been the go to response normally.
But given I bet with friends and family that I'd stay dry until at least the end of February and am still desperately trying to put a stop to my gambling addiction, in the absence of just sitting home alone staring at the walls I ended up loading a stupid amount of tables on Sky in a lame attempt to occupy my mind.
And yeah I guess it can't have been too disapproved by anyone watching me from above as I did get even more luckboxing than normal. Perhaps my Grandpa was sending down some help, he had an amazing brain for cards, I was still a young teenager the last time I played any poker or variants against him but I always lost all my pocket money and my dad never fared much better with his money!
Finally broke my duck at the £10 BH games with a few bounties and 6th (KQ < KJ) before the run in the mini.
Mini the cards just seemed to arrive at exactly the right times. Probably worked in my favour that I wasn't even watching the lobby and therefore had played through the bubble without realising, which meant I was probably far too aggro lol
The bad luck from the £10 FT was evened up by KO'ing 5th place in the mini by hitting a 2-outer river and at the risk of sounding positive in my own limited ability, I knew it was mine from there. Someone was definitely sending down some good vibes.
HU must have been nearly an hour long because we were stacked so deeply but I was in the lead throughout and just seemed to know exactly where I was in every hand.
I'm pretty good at being fairly emotion-lite in life (or pretty bad, depending on you point of view), but there may have been a small amount of non-poker related tears straight after the mini ended.
Sorry for the ramble, didn't realise I'd written so much. I suppose I just needed to word spew.

Awwww much love you to you and yours mate, keep strong and find the ways to carry on.
Looks like poker loved you last nite so VWD, it's been due
Hi. Not sure if I'm right but I didn't see your name on the MTT leaderboard for Januarys promotion after you won the mini. By my reckoning you should be entitled to £20 for having 20 points. Don't want you to miss out.

I think I was a day too late to get the bonus monies?
Although I'm obviously not on Sky's favourite list as I got no advance warning of the February promotion, which it seems most other forum regs received?
Luckily my rungood extended to being pretty lazy/disloyal to Sky during January and earning much fewer points than I have since I started this thread. c.2,200 should be achievable without too much pain... especially with booze free weekends.
Although I already have several mates trying to put an end to the booze ban in advance of the Wales England game this Friday... always good to have such helpful support when trying to quit something

How do you get your hand histories to come out like that mate? , when I have wanted to show a friend a hand I played I have been going into my sky poker/hh then taking a screenshot put into paint then scroll down and do this 2 more time and piece it together in paint then use gyazo to capture it all, really lone winded .
