Very quick update as off to work in 30 mins. Having qualified for the Super Sunday I had already planned what I was going to do with my winnings by 5pm on Sunday afternoon. Come 9pmish on Sunday I didn't need to worry. Looking back I am really disappointed with how I played the exit hand and should never of gone bust at that point. I have reverted back to cash the last few days and I feel as though my game is improving, having done a bit of research online. Thinking that February may become a mainly cash month. One regret this winter has been that I never got to go on my annual skiing week. This was due mainly to the lads I go with being unable to go for one reason or another. To make sure this doesn't happen again it looks like 5 of us are going to book for Feb'19 this Saturday. Gives everyone a year to pay it off and means we have all committed. Huge game for Villa tonight away at Sheff Utd. A win would really see us up there challenging Derby but at this moment in time I would take a draw now. Have to say it is a beautiful day in West Yorkshire with blue skys and the sun shining. Tomorrow is my day off and I am planning on going for a walk with our lad from Marsden to Slaithwaite along the canal, stopping for a spot to eat in a cafe along the way. Here's hoping the weather holds.

Quick resume of January poker. Highlights were a 5th in a Mini, Qualifying for Super Sunday Main (came to nothing) and qualifying for SPT Manchester (hopefully comes to something) Overall not the best start to 2018 and a lot to do to get back in profit for the year. Going to have a real focus on 10nl and may even up to 4 tabling from 3. Target for February is to get back to level for the year and cash at SPT Manchester.

Been playing mostly cash last few days, with varying degrees of success. Also played the Main and Mini on Saturday all to no avail. Below is a hand which probably highlights one of the biggest leaks in my cash game and I am posting it here to remind me of this. Its when 'they' hit on the river I just don't believe them. I think you could say I am a bit of a calling station.

Another win for the Villa, 6 on the bounce and now we move on to the Second City Derby next Sunday. It's one of those games where form goes out of the window and any result is possible. Skiing got booked on Saturday for next February and we managed to get it at a decent price with a special lift pass and hire bundle deal. Bought a clock on e-bay today. Its a pendulum, chiming wall clock. Been after one for a while as I love the sound of a ticking clock and the chimes are a real bonus. Been watching a few things on TV lately all of which I would recommend McMafia, on BBC I-Player, a story of the Russian Mafia. Fighting Season, on Netflix, a compelling documentary following the US Army in Afghanistan. Homeland, on Netflix, a new season continuing in the same vein as the other 5 seasons.

Not played much on SkyPoker since the last update, been playing on another site for a couple of reasons. Firstly seem to be having a mehhhh spell on here and find that sometimes a change of site can be as good as a rest. Plus been playing 8/9 handed freezeouts in prep for this coming weekend in Mnachester. For anyone off to Manchester it would appear, by how I have been playing, that I will not be a threat. Villa are now up to second and seem unstoppable at the moment (famous last words) with automatic promotion seeming a real possibility now. If we come through the next couple of games with 4 points I will begin to think that 2nd spot is ours. Fulham and Sheff Wed away upcoming. I will be off to the Sheff Wed game a week on Saturday and then going to make the trip to Sunderland away on Tuesday 6th March. Below is a picture of the newest addition to our household. Welcome Willow. She will be joining us on 3rd March, all being well, as she will then be over 8 weeks old and ready to start her new life. This has all happened a bit suddenly and sooner than had been planned. The reason for this is that our friend whose Cockerpoo we look after a few times a year got her from the same breeder and hence the opportunity to get ours from this breeder was too good to miss. Having met him I also feel very safe that Willow will of been well cared for her in the first 8 weeks and that all the paperwork, medical bits and things you would worry about if buying from a complete stranger will not have any cause for concern. Have to say I really can't wait.
If I don't post before Manchester I will see some of you there and I will give you all an update of the experience on here.

As some of you will be aware I managed to qualify for SPT Manchester Day 1b and arrived to take my seat on Saturday afternoon. I was seated on a relatively calm table with a couple of people I knew of from the forum namely PompeyNic, a genuinely nice guy who just loves poker, and Sky Kirsty. We would also be joined by MeWillows, who I apparently blocked on Twitter a few weeks ago, by mistake, later in the day. It seems like a lifetime ago already and the only real hands of note were getting 3 full houses, one of which I flopped against Sky Kirsty and for a few brief moments had the sight of the 'Golden Envelope' in my grasp. Unfortunately Kirsty declined to get involved. On arriving at the casino I had in my head that a stack of 75,000 at the end of Day 1 would put me mid pack for the start of Day 2 and would be a nice position to be in. I ended the Day on 66,000 and was relatively happy with my days efforts and really looking forward to coming back the next afternoon. Day 2 saw me sat at what appeared a pretty tough table with a bunch of players who all appeared to know what they were doing, some were even watching poker on their phones and discussing ranges etc. It didn't get any easier when we were joined by a certain Mr Channing. All that first session I had been relatively short stacked, never above 15BB's and luckily for me the last hand before the break saw me double up when my AA held against AK. We returned after the break to a new table, which included Chickenmelt and Ebberdon. This for me was probably the most tense time of the weekend as the bubble approached and everybody quietened down and waited for the magic 40 players left to appear. Unluckily for Ebberdon he was the unfortunate bubble boy, but a pleasure to spend a bit of time in his company. Once the bubble burst I felt like I could relax as making the money was a real target for me. The next couple of hours flew by and I was constantly grinding a small stack with the aim of just trying to ladder up. A big hand for me came when we were down to 3 tables and I was beginning to think the final table was becoming a possibility. I had woken up with the massive hand that was 8s,3s in the Small Blind and if I remember rightly I called and the Big Blind checked. The flop came A high with the 10 and 2 of Spades, I think. We both checked. Another A appeared on the turn, not the Spade, and again we both checked. A 3 then appeared on the River. I checked, the Big Blind raised and after a bit of a tank I called to take down the pot. It was then I really felt I was starting to play well. The next big hand for me came when we were down to 14 players. As was the theme of the day I was under 10BB's again when I looked down at 4c,9c, in the Cut Off. The SB and BB had been relatively tight and I made the decision that with the blinds on there way around again I had to make a move. It was all about the dynamics rather than the cards. I got called by the Button and knew I was behind. He turned over 8,8 to at least give me some hope. The 9 on the flop was a godsend and luckily for me held. All of a sudden we seemed to be down from 14 to 9 and I had made the final table. Without doubt my greatest poker achievement and a moment I will never forget. After photos had been taken, we'd been given SkyPoker patches and the handshakes and congratulations had finished we sat down to play. At this point I felt totally relaxed, and knew being the second shortest at the table, with only 13BB's, anything else was a bonus. What else was a bonus was what a great set of people were sat on that table. It couldn't of been more friendly and I thank all of the final table players for that. One of the first hands I remember is shoving over Chickenmelt's raise with my Ad,Jd and managing to get it through. He is one of **** of a player and I honestly din't know what he had when he was raising. Sometimes I am sure he was at it and then sometimes he seemed to have it. I can clearly see why he has been so successful. It didn't seem to take long to get from 9 down to 4 and then the war of attrition began. As usual I was the short stack and constantly hovering around the 10BB's. There was a real strange dynamic with 'Bad Jumper' having a massive chipstack, playing and raising numerous pots and seeming to continually hit, especially his 2. Malcolm Speak, sorry can't remember your Sky alias, was pretty comfortable in second and this left me and IrishRose battling for that 4th to 3rd ladder. She seems an absolutely lovely lady and deservedly had the support of the SkyPoker forum who were railing. I cant even remember the hand that ended up with Rose going out, which is strange seeing as it was worth £2k to me. Once three handed I was really up against it and twice got it all in against 'Bad Jumper' with the same hands AK and AJ. In the end my exit hand played itself. 'Bad Jumper' called my BB from the SB and I checked behind with my 6,7. The flop came 3,5,5 and we both checked, me dreaming of the perfect Turn card, the 4. Bingo. Not only bingo but I am all in and about to double up. Then 'Bad Jumper' flips his cards to show the 3,5. Well Played, Good Game. So £8,300 in the bank and what will I be doing with it? A week in South France, a new car, stick it in my Poker Bankroll (apparently that's what the kids do). None of those I am far too sensible for that. Going to pay of this summer's cruise, pay off my daughter's summer holiday with her friends, give the kids a bit, clear a few debts, pay for Willow (Cockapoos aren't cheap you know) and may stretch to taking the Mrs for a carvery on Sunday. Would like to say a massive thank you to Tikay and the team for what was an unforgettable weekend. A big Thank You to Doug, the card room manager, who is an absolute gent and someone who clearly loves doing the job he does. And finally a huge thank you to the SkyPoker players and especially the forum members for the good luck messages, congratulations and for generally being a group of very nice people. Lasting memories will be IrishRose getting up, packing her bag and putting her coat on every time she got it all-in and for generally looking completely overwhelmed. Neil Channing shaking my hand and saying 'well played' and finally getting to take £8,300 to the bank this morning. Off to Devon to spend a few days with my dad so will probably be back on the tables Thursday. See you then!
And once again a huge THANK YOU!

Huge congrats young man - it was an amazing weekend and a pleasure to share a table with you and the others. I think your description of me as "generally looking completely overwhelmed" was the most accurate read anyone has ever had at a poker table
Back from my little trip to Devon and its been a lovely few days with blue skies and sunshine. Love Devon at this time of year when you can have the beach to yourself and see it in it's full glory.
Hoping that we may be able to collect Willow next Thursday and she already seems to be growing fast.
Managed to take down the 7 At 7 tonight and had a decent return in the £1k Reload Rebuy thanks to getting a few bounties. Won't be on the tables tomorrow as got the Mother in Law coming for dinner and then off to The Rat and Ratchet in Huddersfield for a few real ales with friends in the evening. Saturday will see me at Hillsborough, along with 4,500 other Villains, hopefully seeing us return to winning ways. The way Cardiff are playing at the moment 3 points on Saturday are looking a must if we want to maintain that push for automatic promotion. We have really missed Grealish and Adomah the last couple of games and hopefully one of them will be back in the starting 11. May well return to the tables on Saturday evening and then toying with the idea of playing the £57 buy in, £2k Gtd Super Sunday at Huddersfield Grosvenor. Played it before with some success and after my experiences at Manchester last weekend may well be tempted.

Terrific phots of Devon - whereabouts exactly were they taken?
Also, I forgot to congratulate you on a fine performance at SPT Manchester. It was one of those Finals where, no matter what anyone did, Naaser was going to win, he simply could not miss.
If this hand happened Online, Team Tim Hat would be giving it all the "the RNG is rigged" twaddle.
It was really weird - you were praying for the 4 to fall, and yet it was the only card that you did not want. "Be careful what you wish for" springs to mind.

A brutal game sometimes.
Photos were taken on a stretch of the Jurassic Coast between Exmouth and Sandy Bay, as nice a beach as you would find anywhere. Particularly when deserted. Thanks for the congratulations and thank you for a wonderful weekend. Still find it hard to believe that I managed third place. The hand above was one of those hands. Against certain players I might have found the fold with the paired board, against Naaser there was no way I was folding. I was expecting him to show a 2,x
On Thursday morning I will be collecting the young lady below. As a result of this I think I will find I have a lot less free time on my hands, partly the reason for getting her. With this in mind I think that I will have a lot less time to play MTT's on Sky and I am therefore going to make a real concerted effort to focus on cash. I can hear you all saying 'here he goes again'. To help me focus on this I have decided to set myself a small cash related challenge. I am going to start with £200 in my account and 4-table 10nl. The challenge is to get to £1250 by the time I go on holiday in August. The reason for this is so that on my return from holiday I will be in a position to play 50nl. I will be using the following bankroll rules. Move up at 25 buy ins and move down at 20 buy ins. I will, however, never move below 10nl as I find that below that level I have less focus. So any 10nl regs who have any golden rules for that level please feel free to share.
On the football front I was at Hillsborough yesterday to see us record a somewhat fortunate victory. For the neutral it must have been a great watch with incident after incident. Wednesday could of easily gone in at the break 3 or 4 up and the referee certainly seemed to favour us. A critical decision he gave us occurred in the second half when their big centre forward broke clear and Terry slid in from behind. The Centre Forward went down and I honestly thought it was a Wednesday free kick and Terry was going to get red carded. This would of probably condemned us to defeat and would of also had a big impact on the next few games as we cannot afford to miss Terry at the moment. Its looking like it will take a mammoth effort to catch Cardiff, although they still have to come to Villa Park, and looking at Wolves run in, they to have to come to Villa Park, it maybe more realistic to have them in our sights. All I know is it is going to get more and more nervy the nearer the season end gets. QPR at home and Sunderland away are the next 2 fixtures for us and 6 points is a must. Jac35 how are Derby doing now?

I think you are going a bit OTT on treating the Mrs though

^^^^
Yes, he loved his deuces, & it really looked like he had the 5 high straight, which would have been the perfect coup for you.

I think we played a bit of cash together at Manchester? I didn’t realise it was you at the time
