Im not that great in MTT but i would think that most would say you can find a better spot than this. Your flipping at the early stages of a tourney when there is no need with AK, You have lots of blinds and can find a better spot IMO
  • hhyftrftdrhhyftrftdr Member Posts: 8,036
Probs snap in a BH, its so advantageous to chip up early doors in those. You're just never gonna be in bad shape in this spot.

Yeah it's likely to be a big flip, but when you factor in some people can do this with worse aces and kings then flipping is worst case scenario and you can be miles ahead too.

How you view the table might dictate your decision; if it seems to be a weak table then you might wanna avoid these spots for the first couple of levels and take a lower variance approach to chipping up.

I don't think getting AKs in pre for 100bb or so in a spot like this will ever be terrible, generally speaking.

A disappointing night at the MTT tables last night, played 14 including Sats and managed to win £22 in the form of entry to a UKOPS event, apart from that dada. As anyone who works in retail will know the next couple of months will be very tiring and a mixture of long shifts and an irregular working pattern. Taking that into account and the fact I just can't seem to win any flips at the moment on the MTT tables I am going to give cash another chance and make a real effort to focus and only play when I am really in the mood. I plan to play 4 tables of 10nl at a time and began tonight with a 1 and a half hour session and a tiny profit of £3.
On the football front I continue to be amazed. Moyes to West Ham, just don't get it.

Yes, something of a surprise, that, I rather thought, after his last 3 gigs, he was "damaged goods".

Still, Messrs Gold & Sullivan are not daft, & both have made themselves very wealthy indeed by dint of good decision making, so maybe they are ahead of us on the Moyes deal.

Just a quick update as been 4 tabling 10nl for past couple of days. Had 4 sessions each lasting between 1 to 2 hours and made a profit in all 4. The plan now is to continue at 10nl for the time being and get to £500 in my account. I will then step up to 20nl. I currently have £102 so a fair old way to go. I would, ideally, like to be at the £500 mark for the start of the New Year but we will have to wait and see.
May fit a small session in at tea-time today before heading off to AFC Emley to watch them in action in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup Second Round versus Hall Green Utd. Below is where I'll be sitting, but think it maybe a tad colder than on the photo. Will be calling in 'Dug Out Diner' for a half time Bovril and Pastie I thinks.

Going to tell you a little story of how not to play Cash Poker. So all those who have been reading this thread will know I have resorted to cash over the last few days and have been able to grind a profit of approx. £30 by 4-tabling 10nl. Whilst achieving this profit I have played pretty solid and decent poker I believe. That was until the following 3 hands last night. It was about 7pm and as I was off to watch AFC Emley I had clicked the button to stop me posting the next Big Blind and was about to leave my 4 tables with a tiny loss. I had one table left open and the following hand occurred. The Villain had in the past half hour pushed All-In pre-flop on two occasions, not showing his hand on either. This time he did it and I had AK so through my reckoning I was probably ahead of his range or at worse racing so I made the call.

This was the very next hand, and yes I probably was slightly tilting, but reasoned that I was probably at least 50/50 if not miles ahead.

So tonight I return to the Cash tables and start the grind again. Got to love poker haven't you.
On the plus side AFC Emley won 3-1 last night in front of a decent crowd of 154. The game was thoroughly entertaining and was only ruined by Emley losing 2 more players to injury in the 1st half. The season has been blighted by injuries and the squad is now down to the bare bones. Had 2 bovrils, a chip butty, a raffle ticket for the meat draw and entry to the game for £8. Maybe the Premier League and Championship should have a look at their pricing strategy.

For those of you who were worrying, and maybe struggling to sleep, I thought I would put your minds at rest and let you know I have just finished a 3 hour cash session on the 10nl tables, playing approx. 825 hands, and have regained last night's losses and some, posting a profit of £51.
Did run like a god, but we take what the god's offer us, and nearer the £500 target at £116.

Last night saw another trip to The Fantastic Media Stadium, or in old money AFC Emley. It was another disappointing 4-0 defeat in the league to FC Hallam. I do feel sorry for the new manager this season as yet again the injury jinx hit with one of the key central defenders being taken off injured after 15mins. I am waiting for the announcement to go over the tannoy asking if anyone happened to bring their boots with them. One good thing that will come out of this season and should stand the team in good stead for next season's promotion push is the amount of young players coming through the ranks. One thing I would encourage you all to do is take a trip to your local non-league side. The value for money is outstanding. Last night I spent just short of £12 and for that I got entry to the game, a pre-match pint of Black Sheep, a chip butty and Bovril at half time and a ticket for the meat raffle, which coincidentally I won. :). Not only that the atmosphere is so engaging and was summed up when I entered the bar pre-match to see a lady supporter of FC Hallam being given a birthday present from the staff at AFC Emley. Can't imagine you would see that in many Premier League boardrooms.
Watched last night's episode of The Apprentice this morning and can't believe there was only one firing. Never have I seen such incompetence at that level of supposed talent. Man up and fire them all Sir Alan.
Also caught up with last night's Peaky Blinders and as always it didn't disappoint. This has to bee one of the best written and produced series ever to grace the screens of the BBC. Role on next Wednesday.
On the poker front I have been mainly focusing on Cash and seem to be up and down but mainly staying level. Did enter a couple of Mini UKOPS the other night but to no avail. Will be staying on the cash tables for now and I am going to try and hit the 2,500 point mark in the Bonus Builder promo. Still a long way to go to the £500 New Year target as I am currently sat on £85.

Played a fair bit of 10nl last few days and I am going to share with you 2 hands from those sessions.
The first is a bad beat, and I know we all love a bad beat, but this does highlight how I seem to be running in the bigger hands that I am getting involved with. The question is should I be getting this in well before the turn, hence eliminating the chance of the bad beat, or I am just unlucky and should be pleased to get to this situation the favourite.
