In Response to Re: Markycash diary - Looking forward to the SPT : +1 to this  I often mean to comment, then just don't for some reason (its an Embra thing- you chatty Westies don't understand :-)) On that subject, If you speak as much as you write you'll have no time to finish a pint in Manchester :-)

If he speaks, nobody will understand a word of what he says anyway.

I'm going to arrange some pre-printed cards for him - FOLD, CALL, CHECK, BET, RAISE etc to help the Dealers understand.

    Cheers guys :)

Really not fishing for posts, compliments or whatever and hope it doesn't come across that way.

Unfortunately it is just hard to know if people are reading the inane drivel unless they post now and again.

Very happy you have found an effective use for my posts Tikay :D

Keep posting Mark. I enjoy reading your thread, despite from having to read them all twice, once with a strong Scottish accent to put them in context, and then again normally.

We met briefly in Vegas and chatted for a few minutes and I have to say that I understood at least some of what you said.

Good luck with the job hunt, I'm sure you'll find something to suit your many talents.

I haven't forced my spam on you all for some time so it feels like time to indulge myself again. Firstly it is nice to see the photos above approved; even if they took a while and appear to have had their size altered to autofit them onto the forum. Hopefully any new changes to the forum will address the photo approval process. A Top of The Posters type thing would also be good to bump up traffic. I am not sure how I feel about the diary on an ongoing basis. I enjoy writing as my generally long posts atest to and I don't need a lot of replies to make me feel good or anything but when there are hardly any replies I feel as if I am just spamming everyone and if nobody is too fussed then I do not mind cutting back or stopping the updates. In that light I cut back on the updates recently but then I recieved several positive comments on the tables about the diary so I am really not sure. Gazza in his diary 'Ramblings of G' asked for any comments on things people would like to see more of. Excellent idea so I will ask the same question of anyone who reads this. Any tips for improving the diary that are marginally more constructive than F*&^ O^F are very welcome :) Not much to update on the poker front. As I am done with all the studying I have been focussing my efforts on the job front lately. I have applied for a load of jobs, some which I more than tick the boxes for and I will be very excited if one of them comes off. It is also the next building block in my own personal poker progression. If I can get a solid job that takes care of all my basic outgoings in life then I intend to stop cashing out and see how much of a bankroll I can put together for WSOP 2018 and hopefully indulge my own personal quest to run deep in something at the WSOP. I may start a little thread with a bankroll challenge for this if I can get the employment element to fall into place. Away from the tables I have been looking forward to Manchester and watching a pile of stuff on Netflix. Not long till Manchester obviously and it will be fun to see a lot of the folks from VLV again, meet some new people and maybe get the chance to tangle on the felt with them this time. On the TV front I have been enjoying 'Better Call Saul' and 'Fear The Walking Dead'. It took a while to get into Better Call Saul as it started a bit more slowly than Breaking Bad but I have finally got a bit more into it.  I did find one TV programme interesting for all the wrong reasons recently. It was called something like 'Beat the Buffet' and entailed a load of people trying to eat more than is healthy and 'beat the buffet'. Apart from seeming like a load of greedy B******* I do not get the point of it. If they like the restraunt then why try and have them making a loss? If they hate the restraunt's food then why try and do this? If everyone done this then the restraunt would presumably have to close their doors. Also is there no consideration to the fact the restraunt has to make a profit to employ the people that it does?  Okay I know one thing I can probably do to improve the diary is cut back on the volume of ramblings so I will end there. Will be great to see the VLV players who make the Manchester trip again and to see some new faces. Hopefully it will be a fun weekend. Thanks for reading.

Negative buffet related comments like this won't attract readers and contributors.

Many thanks for the positive comments all, sincerely appreciated! I would never have stopped posting altogether I enjoy the forum far too much for that! Was just a little unsure if the diary was engaging anyone. I understand my creative writing is not on a par with the likes of Tikay but now I know a few of you are reading I will try and make it a bit more interesting.

I know some people will not care for it, that is perfectly okay and understandable but that is just hard cheese for them lol. They can blame all of you for encouraging me :-D

P.S. Point taken about the buffet chat Harry :-)

Really am looking forward to this!

I cannot believe it is 8 years and 11 months since I played my only live game in England.

I do rather weirdly have a 100% win rate to defend on English soil. This shameless brag from my only previous live outing in England in 2008... I guess if I cannot reminisce on my own blog it is a bad day. Have not watched this for a while and it was fun taking a trip down memory lane.

    Brands Hatch

Not sure that it counts when it was effectively an 8 handed sit-n-go and that 48o hand versus AJs was closer than I thought with the pot odds offered. I guess with it being a limped pot in the blinds it is perfectly possible my opponent had the 7 although I doubt he reraise jams with a 7 and it did look very drawy.

Watched some of the old SPT games on Youtube to get an idea what it is like. Seen a couple of folks from the forum on them including Mr Haysie sat with James Aikenhead.

A load of chores to take care of today and will then set off for Manchester with my other half around 7am tomorrow.

Would be great to run deep but mostly I am just hoping for an enjoyable weekend, to meet a few more of you, and have a nice couple days break. Roll on Manchester!

Hope everyone heading over to the SPT has a lovely time.

I will let you hang onto the fold one Tikay. You can just sit it front of your stack and it will save you having to converse with the dealer ;-)

    Many thanks Vespa!

GL if you are playing over the weekend, either at the SPT or online.

If things get interesting I will throw in a few updates here. If I blow my stack early then I will spare everyone the details :)

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Many thanks ger and pom!

Sincere apologies that this update will be more brief than usual. I know that everyone loves reading my usual giant walls of rambling text (especially those affected by insomnia) but I am posting via my phone today...

Firstly it was great to meet everyone yesterday. It was a nice atmosphere at the tourney yesterday.

The day started strange with Essexphil, Pompeynic and Boggo sat on my left and TommyD on my right. To make things slightly better TommyD was promptly moved tables.

I started off in an active manner and bumped the 25k starting stack to 27k. There were 2 players calling everything though and obviously this meant I needed to have showdown value when playing hands and be careful with any bluffs.

A few very interesting hands arose and I may post some of these in the next few days. Basically though I could not get any traction and was sat on 16k with 1 level to go. 2 late double ups have left me with 60k with the average around 85k. Around 90 players return and I think only 30 are paid so lots of work to do. A fun day 1 though and still in with a small shout.

Thanks for the support folks and hope you are having a lovely weekend.
