Sky has been going down hill for years. Every year I see there are less and less people playing the cash tables.
I can only really speak about the cash tables, don't really bother with tourneys. However, this is where the vast majority of income comes from for a poker site or even b+m poker room.
Over the years I have talked to management about obvious issues. They pretend to listen but never do anything about it.
The biggest issue I feel that needs addressing is the state of the lobby. I have told them numerous times but to no avail. How on earth a recreational player navigates through the lobby I don't know.
There was a change in management around 2011 since then there has been an obsession with adding different games. All this will do is confuse the recreational player and they wont bother playing.
Sky was most popular when it offered one type of 6 max table. Buy in was min 10bb max 100bb. The games were soft and there was plenty of them going. It was easy to navigate the lobby and people could buy in with what they wanted.
In Response to Re: Spin Ups killing SKY Poker : I disagree about all the negative talk. Did you not see the stories about people winning Vegas packages? Tikay spam incoming..... Las Leeds to Las Vegas Anyone care to guess how many players Sky Poker, who have their Head Office in Leeds, are sending to Las Vegas this year? The answer is a whopping 40. That consists of 20 satellite winners, 4 from Mayhem Freerolls, 10 from Leaderboards, 4 from the latest Sky Poker speciality, "Half Time Tournaments" and 2 which are reserved for members of Sky Poker Priority Club. Can't think of many UK and ROI facing online poker sites who are sending even half that number. SoG has done a cracking analysis thread which has seen a vast number of players jump in with discussion. Is discussion threads about types of games etc. There will always be some people moaning that is the way of the world but if we want the forum to remain its down to us to put into the forum, like you do with your diary or with HH discussion. Also its about having constructive debate about topics and people not using the forum to rant in an uncontructive manner. Posted by MattBates
I was talking about the TV news, the place where they consistantly talking about the treat of a terrorist attack at the euros, wars currently going on risks leaving EU will have. It's negative storie time and time again.
On the topic I have found myself dabbling in them I think they can be very dangerous if you don't have dicipline the comparison to fruit machines is very good I banned myself from sky Vegas because I don't have the dicipline it's all about personal prefferance if there is a call for them fair enough people asked for higher stake dyms on plo8 and sky obliged some people don't like dyms they tend to favour games they make money from but no matter the games somebody has to lose

Sorry mate I was talking about cribbage when I said fav game
Spin up tables are for Sky poker to make money. They are a buisness and must do this or go broke and close down like other sites have. I not only expect sipn up tables to stay (at least for a while) but further games to be inroduced which could be described as, more a game suitable for the casino slots side of the buisness. You have a choice play on them or not, at the moment I do not, but I reserve the right to change my mind and play on them if I wish, just as I can buy a lottery ticket, play on roulette, play an all in sat. etc. whenever I wish.
I used to play sky everyday but havent played on it for months as im currently playing on a different site reason being as i have said before there is 3/4 of the same player throughout every level.
If i was a rec and was looking for a game to play/fun and looking through the tables and sein the same players on every 100/200bb table i wouldnt join i would go for the spin ups or omaha.
There was 2 reasons i left playing here before anyone sais , The monthly cash for points changing to a weekly basis and playing cash there would be 4 regs and 1 rec that rec would get stacked and leave then youd have 2 regs instant sit out then leave the table and this would happen on a constant basis.
After all this time running i stll dont understand why sky dont have anonymous tables added that would get me here playing again.
In Response to Re: Spin Ups killing SKY Poker : Fair point, Jordz, & I think we can reasonably assume that to be true. 1) I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the team who run Sky Poker are reasonably bright people. 2) They have to be pretty dumb to shoot themselves in the foot by introducing formats which damage the long term viability of their site. And, of course, they can see the data & numbers, but we can't. So their decisions are more informed than our guesswork. Posted by Tikay10
1. Never Assume
2. Never underestimate how dumb smart people can be
The same data can be analised in different ways by different people. Sometimes its better for an external body to look at these things.
As to vegas promo, from a players perspective fantastic. From a business perspective, from the promos i played it looked very poor.
As to spin ups, good for business long term only if you can continue with people growth

LOL you do know that there is less spin up regs like 3/4 that play every spin up game. there is 10-20 regs i can name that play the mid stakes deep tables. so answer your own question from that one
I started this discussion just to highlight the issue and never expect them to take spin ups away as its too lucrative for skypoker but its unfair to have them as part of the regular tab and highlighted at the top when spin ups have their own tab also. PLEASE PLEASE SEPERATE THE SPIN UPS FROM THE REGULAR TABLES PLEASE SKYPOKER

....is factually & wholly INCORRECT.
Sky Poker Cash game traffic, & number of uniques playing cash, have both increased significantly since 2011.
This is not an assumption, or an opinion - it is a fact.
In Response to Re: Spin Ups killing SKY Poker : How can you not talk negative when all you ever see is negative stories. nearly every news story is either bad news or a debate. hardly ever see positive stories Posted by craigcu12
If you wanna talk negative, fine.
Personally, I'm a glass half full guy, & prefer the balance of my views & opinions to be positive.

It's been an interesting thread, Mr Joke - may I call you Sick? - but for the record, the thread title is misleading. Spin Ups are NOT killing Sky Poker.

You can call me anything Mr K well the headline should of been "spin ups are killing mid stakes no limit holdem 6max action on sky poker" but it didnt quite have the same bang to it :P
Like I said its great for sky and recs that just want a gamble but this site was built on 6max 100bb games and regs who have always played them seem to have been forgetten about for the new spin up regs who have hopped over from 888 since their POF(push or fold) games have died the same as what will happen here then they will move to the next place.
I have only been here for a year propertly but have played tiny bits in the past but alot of regs have been loyal to sky from the start and it seems like their voices are going unheard.
All we ask is for the spin up games to not be on the regular tab. 100bb games are not in the spin up tab so why is it working the other way?

I'm too poor for the current spin ups
When are they going to get added at the 2p / 4p micro stakes?
