Did play at Alea tonight. Was supposed to be a confidence building session, but I busted out twice pretty quickly. There was one guy at the table who doubled me up three times, before taking all my chips. He was extremely loose with no consistency, sometimes he had the nuts, sometimes he had total air. A really challenging player to play against.
I qualified for an SPT Nottingham seat and intend to take my chair tomorrow. Some of you may already know from my previous posts that I have had social anxiety issues in the past, and while I do consider myself to have "gotten over" those issues, trying to socialise with a bunch of people I have never met before will probably be quite a challenge for me.
So if you see a young, balding, British Indian chap in a grey t-shirt and black trousers on his own tomorrow, come say hello

Hi Peter, I'm exactly the same mate. I'm even bringing my missus to hold my hand lol. I'll come over and say hi if I see you. Gl tomorrow.
Everybody has always said that it's a good friendly bunch so I'm sure it will be fine. Apparently @hhyftrftdr is a half decent bloke in real life, but that remains to be seen.

Peter, I can't be there so GL but just one point...you don't need to take your own chair...the casino has got enough!

Was his name Jeremy Tilson and did he support Sheffield Wednesday and did he have his own smoked salmom sandwiches with him? (@Misty4me)

No idea, maybe. It was an Asian looking chap who kept running off somewhere else every couple of orbits for 15 seconds or so.
Had an absolute car crash at the start quickly dropping from 25k starting stack to 7k after numerous hands where I got to showdown but the opponent always seemed to have a slightly better hand e.g. better kicker.
Then got moved table (and seated to the left of @Tikay10, who had a £550 SPT Final Seat bounty on his head). I ran extremely well at this table including an incredible quadruple up with A9 (two pair), followed by busting an opponent (trips over trips) which got me up to 60k.
Had one interesting hand with Tikay. It was a long day so I'm struggling to remember the exact action, maybe he'll correct me however this is how I recall it. Blinds were 150/300. He raised pre-flop to 900, I re-raised to 2700 which he called. Flop came down K74. He checks, I raise around 1500, he re-raises to >5k. I fold the AKo. A tight fold on my part, but Tikay is a fairly tight player and his aggression both before and after the flop made me think he's ahead with AA or KK. It's possible he had the same hand as me, and I did consider the shove given his bounty - however I wanted to try make my experience last as long as possible. I think the K74 may well have been all suited too, but that might be me getting confused with a different hand.
At the third break my stack had dropped to 48k, and after that I frustratingly struggled to get any hands above nine high. I was starting the blind out and eventually busted with 15 minutes of play to go, TT vs KK.
It was lovely to meet many regulars from the community, and a fantastic experience. However, I am slightly disappointed in my play. I feel like I performed average at best, relying on luck more than skill.
If any of you wanted to give me some feedback based on your perceptions of my play, that would be incredibly helpful. Particularly interested in any criticisms to give me some things to work on. I have already identified a few areas for development including one hand where I had the nuts (a straight) and I couldn't keep a straight face while my opponent was deciding if he should call my shove. The pressure got to me for the first time ever.
Well I have had an eventful evening starting off by withdrawing £60 from the cash machine at Alea (that becomes important later).
Decided to play "The Sunday Deep" tournament. £20 buy-in. Starting stack 35k.
I was on an aggressive opening table, but quickly got up to 55k.
Just before the first break, someone shoved 45k on me. The flop had two hearts, and I had AJs (hearts), so I called. No heart came on the turn or river, so I was down to 10k which I got in 1st hand after the break and busted. However, I was able to reload £30 for 60k chips.
This is where the madness happens.
Pre-flop;
- A very drunk guy shoves [had only been at the table for three hands, and was talking about wanting to leave, so I assumed he had air]. - A lady calls [she thought she put one chip in to call the BB, not realising that Mr. Drunk had shoved]. - I shove with TT. - Aggro Guy behind me shoves also.
Four way all in;
Mr. Drunk (JJ) Mistake Lady (K4s) Me (TT) Aggro Guy (A9o)
Flop comes 699. Aggro Guy takes the pot, and a HUGE chip lead.
I quickly check in to see how the SPT it getting on, then decide to leave the casino. However, as I am about to leave, I realise I have £10 in my pocket. So, I go to the roulette table, and stick it on 18/21 split; just felt drawn to those numbers for some reason. 21 hits. £170 profit.
Then I see an old friend as the croupier on another roulette table, and had a good catch-up with him for 30 minutes.
As I go to cash my £170 of chips, I realise that you are supposed to validate parking at Alea - something I had not done on my previous two visits. So, I might well have £200 worth of fines in the post.
If anyone is interested, Tikay did confirm to me he had AKo in that hand I mentioned above. Talking to him, and another member of the Sky Poker community who I forget the name of (bald chap from Durham, @Tikay10?), I have realised that while my thought process was correct, the range of hands I placed him on was incorrect.
Anyhow, I finished 4th in last night's mini for £100 or so which was nice.
My plans for the rest of the year are to play as many online MTT's as I can up until the end of this month - along with continuing to play the 6-max events at DTD. Maybe the occasional full ring game at Alea too.
UKOPS happens from October 25th - November 3rd, and I am planning to be very active during this time frame. I would love to get a few cashes under my belt, or possibly even get my 2nd UKOPS victory.
From November 2nd, I will be out of the country on business until 5th December. It will be the busiest month of my life, so I do not think I will be playing any poker during this time.
When I come back in December, the plan is to ramp up my "training", including getting some 1-to-1 coaching sessions, ahead of a more committed poker programme in 2020. I might even look to play some live events abroad towards the end of the year if there are any large 6-max events.
I think I was sat to your right on the opening table on Saturday. Can you remember what you folded in the big pot early on, when your opponent shoved river? It put you down to 6 or 7k. I can't remember the exact board, but it was a classic straighty, flushy, paired board in a 3-bet pot
Not sure I could ever fold AK to a single raise on K74. Even against Tikay....the temptation to knock him out would be too strong

Notwithstanding what TK might have had....trying to win that bounty...hmmm so strong an incentive...like Keith, couldn’t fold it!

Don't remember, sorry. Although, I was down to 7k pretty early on.
Well, I had put him on AA, KK or AK. More hands beating me than not, hence the fold. I can now see that the range I put him on was far too tight though.
There are 3 combinations of AA he can have, only 1 KK, and 6 AK. You might be able to get rid of AA KK a decent % of the time given he flats the 3-bet.
Really important factor whether this board is rainbow, has two or three suited cards. If rainbow I can’t name many hands that call a 3-bet and fancy raising that you’re ahead of. If all three are suited and you don’t have the Ace of that suit I think I prefer checking back to control the pot size - particularly if you’re planning to fold to a raise.
You don’t mention stack sizes either which are key to working out how much you want to be betting or whether you can check back here (board dependant). Stack size also important when judging his raise size and incentive to bluff.
The interaction of the two missing variables (stack size and board texture) make it quite difficult analyse.

It was the main hand which got u down to 7k ish, the board was something like J97x9 with the flopped flush draw completing on the river. Pretty surprised if you can't remember that hand...it took you nearly 6 minutes to fold on the river (no criticism intended, it was a decision for your tourny life)

Now that you say that, I do remember the time where it took me ages to decide what to do. However, still don't remember what I had.
Unfortunately, my memory is atrocious. In live poker, when someone asks me what I had a few hands back, I've often already forgotten and just make something up
Just finished 21st in the mini for a whopping £19. Pretty happy with two consecutive cashes in two events.

Ha.
Anyone care to speculate why the chap kept disappearing for short periods?
Tough one that, you get exactly one guess.
