@HENDRIK62 did you end up playing some more of these and if so how have you got on? Are you enjoying yourself or still demotivated? These are pretty demotivating times for poker players in general I reckon :/

got to six or seven and bust, played turbos because the standard ones were taking too long ;-)
Read your post about the J9 and your thinking re FE and ranges, I understand your points, but as Matt mentioned its just as important to understand what your opponents are thinking.
They should be folding almost their entire range often enough to make that a profitabe play, but the short BB in that particular hand throws a spanner in the works.
For sure we need to look for spots to pad stack if we can but its also amazing how short you can get and still have FE in this format.
Still playing at the mo and I feel a bit guilty that this is so short compared with your well thought out post.
I will post other thougts as they come to me
I hope Jac posts again, he knows a lot about this format.

    I'd kill for "6 or 7"! ;) gg

Nothing to be guilty for, you make some great points in a clear and concise way - it's a lesson in the power of brevity... I should take notes :D

I agree with you on hoping @Jac35 posts here again - great to have DYM players of that ilk taking the time to share their knowledge and experience of the format here... I should probably read his diary… ;)

CBA with poker tonight (but still played a handful)

    £1.10: x
    £2.20: ox
    £3.30: ox

I might make a last-ditch genuine attempt at getting a streak for the week tomorrow afternoon (won't be playing on Sunday) by putting in some proper volume... I might also switch to turbo's :D

Just turbos, don't think I could bare putting together a 3 or 4 streak then busting to a bad beat when they take that long!
  • MynaFrettMynaFrett Member Posts: 747
Turbos it is then... better go and start praying to RNGesus for real this time :D

    Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting
    (Get a little action in)

So I decided to have a punt on the turbo variety of the DYM's tonight and battled away in the £1.10 and £2.20 streets. Enjoyed it. Still not managed a noteworthy streak, unfortunately, had a few near misses though (said everyone who's played DYM's ever :D ).

Also managed to get in what felt like a tonne of volume (by no means DTM levels but reasonable/respectable I think for a DYM novice who also doesn't particularly like multi-tabling).

This is how I fared on the night:

    £1.10: ooxoxooxooooxooxooxxxoxoooooxx
    £2.20: xoooxoxxxooxoxooooxoooxxoxooxo

    And in numbers:

    £1.10 - Played:30 Binks:19 Bricks:11 Bink %:63.33 Best Streak:8 5
    £2.20 - Played:30 Binks:18 Bricks:12 Bink %:60.00 Best Streak:6 4

The whole point of these two weeks is to get Streaks, granted. That's not happening, granted. I am enjoying it though and I feel like progress is being made and pennies are starting to drop in certain spots. Things that are probably obvious to regs like raising to a size (sometimes as much as 1/2 to 2/3 of your stack or even just leaving yourself a single big blind behind :o ) that commits you - or appears to commit you vs certain stacks but also gives yourself room to fold - or appear to be willing to fold - to other stacks rather than just mashing the all-in button thinking it's easier and you're just gonna generate maximum fold equity vs everyone left to act regardless then get needlessly coolered when multiple players get it in behind and you could have just raise-folded (even close to very top of your range and off some pretty small stack sizes) and auto-cashed... n00b :D . I do still much prefer taking the simpler approach when in (most) 6 and (a lot of) 5 handed spots by just jamming for max value and max fold equity though but I perhaps need to refine this approach in a lot of these spots as well.

To sum up the week then, I would say it has been thoroughly enjoyable despite coming out of it Streakless and without much money :D . I do feel like I wasted my time on the regular speed games though and I will be looking to play the turbos next week and hopefully try to get in 50+ games a night...

I do intend to return next week and continue updating this thread so I hope it's not boring you all to tears (those of you who have stuck around... :D )

Hope those of you have taken part in DYM Streak Week 1 have enjoyed it/had success and glgl for week 2.

Not sure what it is but I really should quit playing on Monday's. Enthusiasm killed stone-dead. Sorry Tikay. :s

Have you thought about moving up stakes to where they respect your raises?

On 2 leaderboards now. Well done. My streak ended at 3 on plo8 getting in with AA23 and gubbed with a bag of spanners. Oh well.
