f you could do it over again , would you have been tempted to be a professional poker pro or stuck with your chosen career ?

Tempted. But I can struggle with the mental game of poker full-time. Part-time suited me better. Always used to say "I spend half my time as a Solicitor, the other half playing poker. This means i spend half my time lying, cheating and robbing people. The rest of the time I play poker."

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose ?

England. I love visiting other countries and cultures, but (for all its faults) I love my country.

    Would you eat squirrel ?

I would need to be pretty hungry.

How much money would you have to lose , to consider not playing poker again ?
I honestly do not know. Originally, I deposited £400 between 2 poker sites, and promised to stop if I lost it. Suspect my wife would know the answer to this one!

Hows the puppy doing ? ( photos required )

See above picture. Adorable most of the time, but both extremely fast and extremely vicious at times. Impressed when it kills flies in mid-air, but the juvenile blackbird yesterday was less pleasant...

Thanks for that. Try and make an SPT-you will be surprised how welcoming people are.

To give an example, I do not always agree (to put it mildly) with Jon (Hhy) online. Can honestly say, having sat with him on my left for some hours at one, that in person he is a thoroughly pleasant and likeable man. Obviously, I will deny this in public ;)

Poker yesterday was just one of those days we all experience. Just glad none of it was for big stakes.

Played on Sky, GG, Coral, Unibet and 888. Small cash on 888 and a 3rd on Coral reduced the losses. Will just play 6-11 today.

In brighter news, my new passport arrived today :)

In other news, I have been told that it is important to show my dog who is boss.
So I have showed him my wife....

Just a quick question, why did you give up soliciting?

    Mixture of reasons.

I was running a mid-sized City firm for some investors, mainly Japanese/Chinese/Korean.

The pressure was considerable, and it started to affect my health-50 hour weeks, 15 hour weekly commutes, and high-pressure work for many of the world's biggest companies has that effect, at least on me. And I was playing poker 20-30 hours per week on top :) I just reached a stage where I needed to slow down.

Less wealthy, but my kids recognise me...

    Good evening Phil.

Good luck with this. Will follow with interest.

And I have already learnt something from it.

    "Intumescent". Good word.

    Quick round-up of today's poker.

Highlight was a win in the 7:15 PLO8. I love that tournament.

Lowlights? 2 deep runs in the Main (on here) and a $50 speed in the Summer Series on i-poker. Both times all-in pre-flop and lost to the underpair. All part of the game.

Hi Phil noticed you won the PLO8 bounty hunter tonight well done, Always found you a tough opponent at the PLO8 tables so a couple of questions on PLO8 if you don't mind.

    1) Do you play PLO8 on other sites.
    2) And if so how does sky PLO8 compare to other sites.

I enjoy PLO8 on sky but sometimes i want to play more than three mtt's a night.

Enjoying the diary Phil and good luck on the tables.

Thanks for this. The answers are:-

    1. I am not very experienced at PLO8-only started playing when Sky did a promotion a while back. Shows how a promotion can have long term benefits. When my PKR roll was kindly reimbursed by Stars, I punted it (about 1.5k) on PLO8 on stars. Felt I ran badly rather than outgunned. Only played a few on other sites (i-poker, Grosvenor).

    2. There are certainly more weaker players on Sky in this format. Also, people are far more likely to raise rather than call elsewhere, and bluffs are more common. I would say the typical standard on Stars is that of the top 50% of PLO8 players on Sky. There are certainly some very good players in the 7:15 on Sky, that (IMHO) could play at a considerably higher buy-in, including you.

I have never played a live PLO8 tournament. That should be a real highlight of my next Vegas trip.

Always found you to be very knowledgeable on MTT players!

What is your mix of tournaments between sites on a standard day? Do you tend to play the same games or mix it up? Will do some more fun questions later.

Always (for me, at least) needs to be a balance between keeping your best ones, and changing some about to keep it interesting.

So, to give 2 examples. On Sky, I will always play the 8pm, but rarely the Sheriff, as I can earn more, easier money elsewhere. If I do, then only via the £11 multiseat qualifier at 7:45.

On other sites, I like to add one site and remove one site most months for variety. These days, the only constant is Sky, although that did not used to be the case.
I think when you play a few sites getting table count right and being in the right games is massive. When you have a few sites on the go I found it was kid in sweet shop time and it is easy to reg away and have too many tables and end up frantically clicking buttons.
We had it when backing guys that we would have must play games (like you with the main) then lots of can play games. Sometimes you are better to have a slightly lower table count knowing some key game are starting shortly rather than be in a £5.50bh and not have table space for the main!

Do you have any favourite MTTs that you seem to do better in than others. I have found this happens a fair bit but can be where you get some results in a certain MTT then it seems to get more focus going forward.

    Good evening Phil.

Good luck with this. Will follow with interest.

And I have already learnt something from it.

A intumescent strip is a fire strip that's fitted in the rebates of internal door frames it expands during a fire sealing the doors giving folks time to get out if they,re in a room
What Tikay saw in Phil, s picture is a bush seal /draft excluder fitted on external door frames , sorry for being pandantic

    You are 100% correct @stokefc.

I just wanted to throw in "intumescent", it's a word I've not seen or used for years. I used to run a large Property Maintenance business & we looked after all sorts, but notably lots of hotels, & of course fire precautions were strict in hotels even then, so intumescent strips were a big deal.

Fire Extinguishers also had to be checked & certified twice a year (we weighed them to test they were still full). We used a firm named O Heap & Sons who were based in Derby, you may have heard of them or seen their vans running around. We had several supermarkets on our books too, including Sainsbury & Aldi, same applied in those. Was easy money, just added 10% to Heap's bill & then sent it to our Client.
