Always found you to be very knowledgeable on MTT players!
What is your mix of tournaments between sites on a standard day? Do you tend to play the same games or mix it up? Will do some more fun questions later.
Always (for me, at least) needs to be a balance between keeping your best ones, and changing some about to keep it interesting.
So, to give 2 examples. On Sky, I will always play the 8pm, but rarely the Sheriff, as I can earn more, easier money elsewhere. If I do, then only via the £11 multiseat qualifier at 7:45.
On other sites, I like to add one site and remove one site most months for variety. These days, the only constant is Sky, although that did not used to be the case.
I think when you play a few sites getting table count right and being in the right games is massive. When you have a few sites on the go I found it was kid in sweet shop time and it is easy to reg away and have too many tables and end up frantically clicking buttons. We had it when backing guys that we would have must play games (like you with the main) then lots of can play games. Sometimes you are better to have a slightly lower table count knowing some key game are starting shortly rather than be in a £5.50bh and not have table space for the main!
Do you have any favourite MTTs that you seem to do better in than others. I have found this happens a fair bit but can be where you get some results in a certain MTT then it seems to get more focus going forward.
Completely agree, particularly with bolded bit.
I spent the first 3 years just playing on 1 site (Party), and then the next 2 years just playing on 2 sites (Party & Mansion). Now I will play on almost any site, except for the dodgy US ones.
You have to be EXTREMELY disciplined about table selection. In particular, spending too long on it can be like watching the TV while playing.
Most sites now concentrate on :00 and :30 starting times, which makes it easier. I spend the first minute of each 5 minute break listing (in preference order) possible new games for the next hour. It is important to have very few "must plays". That said, amazes me how few poker "pros" have a proper work ethic.
There are some MTTs that I run very well in, but bankroll management is even more important than that. To give 2 examples, I run well in the Sunday Main and the "Matt Bates Invitational" (the Quickdraw). However, I don't always play them as the first is outside my comfort zone (unless qualify via the 2 £24s) and the other is a little late for me-will only play if know that another MTT likely to run late. Sure you'll understand if I don't want to go into TOO much detail re my favourite tournaments
Great read Phil all the very best in your challenges Solicitors, I have to get a solicitor due to being shafted by a family member because of the itestate law after the death of me Dad and I just keep getting bad news after bad news it seems me and me bro are completely screwed A intumescent strip is a fire strip that's fitted in the rebates of internal door frames it expands during a fire sealing the doors giving folks time to get out if they,re in a room What Tikay saw in Phil, s picture is a bush seal /draft excluder fitted on external door frames , sorry for being pandantic
Thanks @stokefc Intestacy law was never really my thing. Did your dad remarry? Would suggest that EVERYONE with both family and stuff to leave look carefully at the Intestacy Rules. And if they don't suit, PLEASE get a Will done.
PS-not expensive to get a Will done. What can be expensive is allowing Solicitors to be the Executors...
Played a few PLO8 DYMs a while back, @eon1961 . Might give them another little go, but I'm not the man to revive them. A little league with some prizes for PLO8 DYMs might help.
Do you remember when they first entered the UK Market? They used to run a £100,000 Guarantee MTT EVERY DAY. It rarely even half covered Guarantee, despite the fact they gave away hundreds of free seats daily. Times were different then, sites were throwing money around willy-nilly.
They used Marc "Mr Cool" Goodwin as their Site Pro, & he had the best deal of any Poker Pro I ever knew. He'd fly to Tournaments all over the world in a Private Jet they laid on for him.
He ran 3rd in the famous Poker Million in Monte Carlo, the one where Phil Ivey bluffed Paul Jackson, when both of them had complete airballs.
He got a good few bob for that, quarter of a milly I think, & we all went out for dinner at the Cafe de Paris that night paid for by Phil Ivey. Next morning, Marc treated me to a helicopter trip back to Nice Airport, as we had travelled out together, along with the late Dave Colclough, who was my partner Next Door.
For many years Marc was the poster boy of British poker, but I think he went busto eventually, & he's back selling double glazing now.
They disappeared (from Poker as opposed to Casino) just as quick.
One minute I was playing a big MTT at Les Ambassadeurs in Mayfair and staying at the Hilton, next I was their ONLY qualifier in the WSOP Main. Didn't even wish me good luck.

They had lovely, silky smooth software, but eventually migrated to i-Poker & the poker side died soon after. Still active in casino & slots I think, maybe Sports Betting too. They were owned by a huge Malaysian Company I think. I believe they were the shirt sponsor for Spurs for some time too.
Poker highlight was undoubtedly the PLO8 MTT at 7:15 again. Lovely Final Table, full of people I rate at this game. Spent the best part of an hour battling with @tomgoodun and @pomfrittes in the Final 3. All of us were at some point chippie and short stack-lucky enough to win again.
Final tabled the Mini (hence the late finish), but only 6th. Deep runs in events in the Series currently run on i-poker and unibet, but fell short of the serious money. Ended up in profit, but only by low 3 figures. Close to a decent night.
Decided to get up early. Well, I say decided. Dog decided it wanted my pillow
Day off yesterday-dog sitting while wife/youngest went to see Avenue Q. Apparently, it is a bit like an adult version of the Muppets.
Frustrating day today-fact that I've finished for the day is never a good sign Lost KK v 88 in the Main on here.
Elsewhere mostly min-cashes/blanks, except for a rather frustrating 45/993 in the Spring Series Main (100 Euro entry) on i-poker. The Spring Series has been lacklustre on i-poker, so they must have been sweating on a 100k guaranteed, but only 7 shy.
The traditional Bounty Hunter just involved a flat prize for every person you knock out. So (for example) a $11 (5 plus 5) MTT involves a $5 freezeout, with a $5 prize for every person you knock out, with a $1 rake.
Sky Bounty Hunters are different to that. They are Cumulative in nature-part of any Bounty goes to you, and some goes on your head. So knocking out someone who has already got a Head is worth more than someone who has not, and knockouts get more important as the game progresses. Consequently, the dynamic of when to raise/call etc changes considerably due to the increased Bounty opportunity. Sky very much led the way in this, and most rivals now have similar tournaments.
GG Poker has taken this on to another level. So (for example) in a $10.50 BH, there is still a $5 freezeout, and a starting $5 Bounty (note the smaller rake). However, the Bounty works differently. The first thing to bear in mind that, unless you reach the money in the freezeout, you receive no Bounty. However, you receive 100% of the cumulative Bounty of whoever you knock out on your head provided you do make the money. The Bounties are awarded according to Head value when the bubble bursts, and play no further part from there.
The above radically changes what is optimal play in relation to raising/calling etc as you near the bubble. If (for example) you have knocked out 3 people, who themselves had knocked out 0,1 and 2 people (who all had the minimum bounty)then on your head would be $(10 plus 15 plus 20)45, whereas the min cash would be about $10. Suppose your opponent has a similar Bounty. There are totally different ranges according to whether he has more or less chips than you. The size of Bounties can often mean that it is correct for the Big Stack to shove 3 2 off, and the Shortstack to fold almost everything (and sometimes even AA). It makes for an interesting game.
distinctly average day at the poker tables. Bubbled the 6:30 Freeroll in comical fashion, as consecutive runner-runners put me from first to worst. 5th in the 7:15 PLO8 nonsense. (Note: it is only a proper game when I win) Just left in a $10 speed on GG, though wielding a big stack.
Highlight of the day was undoubtedly the dog waking itself up far ting, and turning to glare accusingly at my wife
Enjoying the updates Phil and fingers crossed for some tales of glory soon.
A few more nosy questions if I may...
1. How many online MTT's do you play in an average month?
2. What's the highest buy-in that you regularly have in your online schedule (excluding events you satellite into)?
3. What are your 2 most profitable sites from an ROI perspective?
4. I see you haven't opted in to Sharkscope for your Sky account. Is this for any particular strategic reason or is Sharky something that you just don't bother with?
Once again, please feel free to tell me to mind my own
Though for aircraft pedants, the photo is of a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 from London landing at McCarron, Vegas, but that flight is no longer serviced by a 747, they use the Dreamliner 787.
1. How many online MTT's do you play in an average month? About 800
2. What's the highest buy-in that you regularly have in your online schedule (excluding events you satellite into)? That depends on how much money I have on any 1 site, and how I am running-I move down in stakes during bad/flat patches. Sometimes largest is £33, on other occasions it is $215
3. What are your 2 most profitable sites from an ROI perspective? Overall, it has been Party and i-poker (Mansion/Will Hill/Coral), because I have played them the longest (poker gets harder over time). At the moment, it is probably Unibet and SkyMy info about some sites can be gleaned via Pocket Fives-my main name is Philgreen111
4. I see you haven't opted in to Sharkscope for your Sky account. Is this for any particular strategic reason or is Sharky something that you just don't bother with? I don't wish to furnish them with free info about me (which I have no idea how safe it is), so they can publish other free info about me. I think my profit on Sky is about £35-40,000 and, like @Haysie would be higher if I had not played a bunch of DYMs
Once again, please feel free to tell me to mind my own Not at all-happy to provide info. That is one of the reasons why I occasionally do these diaries. Perfectly capable of swerving questions if need to

Wp (again) in the 08 , it was certainly a fun ft 😊, maybe I ought to rename you “ The mechanic “ due to your love of spanner’s 😉
The former might be fierce, whereas the latter would be tiny and always injured
Very good.
