Cricket was ok. Or so i’m told.
Had to go to Calke Abbey with a friend
Got home 5 minutes after we’d won

    I’ll watch the highlights :)

I managed to avoid hearing the cricket result all day as I had recorded the highlights. Got in turned the TV on to watch the recording only to hear 6 words before I got to the mute button 'that makes the series one all!'. I even run bad when watching the telly.

    Well, we survived Butlins.
It was really good actually and the weather was kind. 6 straight days with the boy was brilliant.

I deliberately chose a week when there was no football so I’m looking forward to seeing how Derby fair against Forest and Brentford this week.
I expect we’ll win both games comfortably

I went to a birthday party last night. I was staying over and going straight to golf this morning. I’d unpacked all my golf gear for the holiday so I was very careful and made sure I put everything back. I nearly forgot my shoes and the battery for my trolley. A little hungover I turned up this morning and started putting everything together. I’d forgotten the wheels. Wp me.
I had to hire a buggy which Coral who was playing with us was very happy about.
We didn’t win but I made a nice birdie to get in the 2s which got us all a tenner.
Coral was rubbish. I don’t think women should be allowed on golf courses.

    August was ok poker wise
Not much volume but I ran well and won £603.
    I’ve withdrawn back to £200

The new month has started reasonably well.
I played Dyms for about 2 hours tonight and won £63 at them.
They were very high variance. Players 3bet shoving first level after a raise to 60 etc.
Just had to press call and close my eyes a couple of times.

It brings me to something I find very interesting.
There’s a very high volume winning reg who plays pretty much that way. I witnessed a hand on Friday night when he/she open shoved 2k at 25/50. Definitely wasn’t a misclick. It’s their regular move. It’s possible that they haven’t played a hand post flop ever.
But, they win. It’ll be a struggle to convince me that this is a good play but fair dos to them.

I had a go at the mini as well tonight. Chipleader early on, I’m now out.
    I played like a buffoon.

I really should play more tonight but 145 points is massive for me in one day and I can’t be arsed 😉

    ........
    I put this on Facebook

I think my stomach has just landed somewhere in Boston after the last ride. Mum can do the rollercoaster with him

Enjoyable-ish update Grumps, & a lovely photo of Harry.

One thing jumps right off the page though.

To your right (as we look), there is THE oddest manhole cover & frame I can ever recall seeing.

Back in the day I could have used Manhole Covers & Frames to BS 497 as my Specialist Subject on Mastermind, but I'm out of touch these days.

Some things never change though, so for practical reasons Manhole Covers & Frames generally reflect the shape of the manhole or opening they cover. Obvious when you think about it, as I'm sure you often do.

    So we normally have square, rectangular, round (very rarely) plus of course the sexiest of them all, & my personal fave, the double triangular. These are always Heavy Duty, & are two triangles bolted together to form a square, like this;

    image

Those really are the dogs, the Manchester City of Manhole Covers so to speak.

But.... I've never before seen a manhole cover & frame like that one in your photo, & I can't imagine what is under it, or why the hole under it would be that shape.

If you happen to go there again, do me a favour & have a word please.

I have a feeling that is a thoroughly deserved insult.

    Fair play.

    Thrilling update time
Played for just under 2 hours
Bubbled the Spt £10.50 sat but got £9.60 back

    Dyms were up and down
    Made £17

Ruined my streaks but may have got up to 7 or 8 in £5 leaderboard

    Too much excitement
Need a rest now so i’m going to watch the Harvey Weinstein doc

Work tomorrow after 10 days off ☹️

    Bankroll £269
105 points too. High volume this for me these days 😊

Would be interested in hearing about how you are approaching streak week if you don’t want to give away any secrets.

    - Have you added to your table count
    - Are you mixing in Turbos
    - Do you concentrate on one or two levels at a time or fire all and drop if a streak breaks
    - Not even think about it

Can always tell where the perceived value of a promo is when all the big hitters start appearing at the £1 tables!

    Table count is the same
Up to a max of 11 tables

I’ve played a few turbos at the lowest stakes. I played 3 £1.10 turbos last night and won those. If i won a couple more than i’ll revert to normal dyms to try and get a decent streak (no doubt will lose first regular dym) :)

I just reg every level as i normally would. I don’t think it’s actailly helpful to know where you are on a streak. It can change how you play.

Big hitters? Yep, i noticed you in one of my games ;)

11 is a decent stack of tables, how do you arrange them. I think I while ago you’d only ever have one in view and the next action would pop up? Same scene?

I can tile 8/9, ordering them by start time but it’s a bit of a pain dragging them across as they close and load. Think I found auto-pop up not that reliable or I missed certain action but would be keen to try and find a way to play more tables at once.

Upped the volume tonight and I’ve played for a whole 2 hours

Just bust the SPT tenner sat with 8 left.
All pretty reasonable. J10 shoved the button and I called from the bb with AK
    I’ll persevere 😊

Dyms went ok. Wrecked a few streaks but won more than I lost.
    Made £68 at them

Really enjoyed one game. It was only a £3. @mmmchips had the temerity to make a better full house then me 8n the first level. I was left with 40 chips. Yeah, obv, cashed comfortably in the end 😁

Didn’t cover myself in glory in one instance.
Had a weird thing the other day. On bubble I had a monster stack. A player was away and in those spots especially with two regs you just blind him out. It’s not particularly nice but it’s standard. One of the regs didn’t get the script. He started raising. I don’t like him much so I kind of called when he shoved on me and won. Can’t remember ever doing that before but he’d annoyed me.

Anyway, he wasn’t happy. He called me lots of unpleasant names in the next game. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him chat before.

Tonight I couldn’t help but comment when, not against me, he got there in 4 consecutive games.
He called me a moron which I thought was a little rude.

In the next game and sadly I don’t think he saw my comment as he didn’t reply I said
Jac35: Silly me, broke a golden rule last game and insulted a bad reg. Apologies

    Bad Paul

    Bankroll £336

    ....
    Ran bad with food today
Had a chicken and chorizo scotch egg at lunch. Tesco’s finest my ****.
Was shopping this evening and saw a half price chicken jalfrezi. It was below average

    Zombiefied this morning

Couldn’t sleep and so gave up about 1.30 and went downstairs until just after 3. Played a bit more. Played 2 tables of cash and a few dyms . Lost a buy in with a set of aces and then won one v a set of Queens.

    £4 added to bankroll
Was up at 6. My early hours profits went towards a latte with an extra shot

Woman stops play for this evening
So I won’t be able to put in my usual nightly grind.

Hopefully I’ll cling on to a few of the leaderboards until the last day

    Ha, very good.

£25 seemed a bit steep, but they are sold out, so presumably enough folks consider them reasonable value.

Cast Iron Manhole Covers & Frames are remarkably popular, you know.

I write an incredibly interesting thread on everyone’s favourite variant of poker, Dyms, and all you lot want to talk about is manhole covers
