The story continues

My story couldn’t just end there now could it?
I feel the time is right to carry on, one may ask why...well to be perfectly honest, it helps me.

Let me expand.
Whilst I was pondering life’s great mysteries , I thought “ Why did I stop putting my musings down in print”?
I couldn’t think of an answer I was happy with, firstly I thought people must be getting tired of the same old stuff...eg.. I’m a bit poorly, I’m a bit better, My wife is a saint, I love my family, etc etc.

Then I remembered why I started in the first place, I started because I had hope, a hope for the future which wasn’t really guaranteed, anyone who was in the position I was in hasn’t really got a clue what will happen that year, ( for first readers of my story, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer)

As time passed, I was really enjoying expanding on my journey ( yuk, I’m not a fan of that description, but I can’t think of a better one at present)

Also, the feedback from all quarters was so humbling, and made me feel like I was doing something good.

So...what now?
Well, it’s more of the same I’m afraid 😊

Towards the end of My Story ( part one) I started a mini challenge, to see how many final tables I could reach this year, that particular challenge was going quite well, I had hoped to reach 50, I managed that, but I wasn’t really giving it the full concentration it deserved if it was a challenge., I think this time I should put more “ meat on the bones” maybe learn how to post crucial spots, ask for feedback from better players ( that should be easy)

I had hinted at starting again, and as I’m going on holiday next week, it may seem to some a strange time to start again, but I thought it would be remiss to just leave things hanging for a month or so, so what better time to start than right now.

At present, the poker is going ok, I reach a few final tables, I make a profit , I have a chat on the virtual felt now and again, I’m happy-ish with my game, I’m never going to make a lot of money but that’s not why I play.

I will be posting photos 😊

My holiday starts on Sept. 2nd
5 days in Vegas, then a Cruise round Mexico.

I shall be posting about my family, my ups, my downs.

If anyone has any questions, fire away.

That’s all for now.
Goodnight , be nice x

Hi Don, hope you and the family are keeping well, I got a touch of ‘Writers block’ , I blame the continued worry of No Deal 😉

    Hi Mr.K
Sarah and I are staying at The Linq., tbh I’m unsure of what ‘type’ of rooms they have. Having stayed in Caesers and Venetian I’m hopeful it matches up to the comfort of those 😊

One could argue my play is similar to one sleeping 😉

    Thanks Mark.
We are currently sat in the traveler lounge awaiting our gate to open., I would recommend booking a stay in one of the lounges prior to a long haul flight.
You get food and stuff 😊
Having said that, I’m pretty sure when we booked one the first time ( back in the day) they were similar to those “eat TIL you barf” kind of establishments, it’s changed a bit since then, there’s a ‘menu’ on the table which you have to take to the bar and order food.
The waiter then takes the menu off you 😟
    Seems I can’t re order ...
We were sat in a nice cosy room at the back
I say ‘were’, I had ordered beans on toast, it comes with a ramikin of cheese gratings.
I buttered my toast, beansed it up, then tried to gently tip the gratings of cheese onto my toast/beans delicacy.
I gently tipped it on the floor.

My wife had one of those faces on , a kind of “ Youre sh...t..ng” me” kind of faces.
I diffused the situation by suggesting we move tables.
She took the offer up., I know how to please her 😊

Maybe the waiter will put a fresh menu on the new table, every cloud eh.

    Played poker last night.
    Badly.
    Vegas here we come 😏

    Good luck all x

    Good evening Mr.K

    Vegas was...hot.
The LINQ was no Caesar’s, but it was ok I guess, I’m sure it suits @hhyftrftdr down to the ground though, it’s quite central on the strip so staggering anywhere in the twilight hours is do-able even in the 105 degree heat.

My good lady and I retired to the pool at the hotel one day, adorned with swim suit and book ready for a relaxing afternoon.
Relaxing and Vegas kinda don’t match.
Neither do relaxing in the hotel pool, the first obstacle being the booming music, the second was the waft of dodgy baccy....
We retired to the room to formulate plan b.
Plan B was to toddle to another pool, we found one suitable for our needs in another hotel which I’ve completely forgotten, it’ll come back to me.

Before we went, our son said to try Uber for getting about, my good lady “ downloaded the app”
( What that means is anyone’s guess)
    Well, it was a revelation!
Apparently you put in where you are, where you want to go to, and believe it or not you get a reply saying what the drivers name is, what number plate, and the cost of the journey !
    How cool is that..
    I thought it was fab...Until.....
I have this .. what some would call a strange mind set.
I’m not a lover of internet middle men.
The type like - Just eat , who imo, make money from the people who provide the service, one could say that they give choice, I would argue I already had that choice.
So...whilst riding in the Uber I felt bad.

I played a grand total of 3 tournaments out there.
Pretty sure everybody had pocket Aces every hand and limped with them, seems everyone played every hand.
Standard bust out with QQ after 4 bet shoving the big stack who “ Had to call “ with 66
The 6 on the flop was nice to see as I was ready for bed at 11pm.

Loved the Cruise round Mexico, the people are so nice, I may post some pics when I get the chance, I’m on iPad at present , pics on phone and I’m not capable of getting them from P to I.

Getting back to reality was a jolt
    Blimey it’s cold.

I thought I’d play a game of PL08 on the iPad on Tuesday, late regged the £5 bh.
Did ok, managed to FT it, eventually won.

Played the same game Wednesday, built a healthy stack, then oh dear, the one thing you should..not...do! I potted with AA33 and got a limper to call.
Why I did the next thing bemuses me.
    It’s an all club flop.
    I think I checked , I may have bet...lol.
Turn I check and he pots it to 5k ish, I have about 13k
You know that feeling “ I don’t want to be bullied off this pot” ( But in my heart I’m 100% sure I’m behind)
Anybody give any sane reason why I shoved?
    Nope...me neither.
I could win the lo with A3
People call a pre flop pot bet with A2
They also pot with the flopped flush.
    He had both ....doh.
On the one hand I’m pleased to be proven right, I was behind.
On the other hand I’m an idiot. 😊

    Bedtime.
    Be nice x

Hi Danny, good to see you here , I may ask for some insight into how to play poker 😉

    Good Afternoon

    Poker update
Played a few tournaments last night, the ones I busted I’d got it in good so no complaints about my play, had a bit of an annoyance in the mega stack, was going along quite nicely when I 3 bet a raiser, ( I had AA obv)
Flop 10 hi, I bet full pot ( 3k ish) and get shoved by K 10 ( orig raiser)
    He rivered a flush
I was ok with the call, was a bit bemused by his shove and asked what hand he put me on , his reply was a bit of a rub I thought, maybe some see it different?
He said something like “ Good players would c bet smaller” in reply to what hand he put me on.
I thought it was a dig., maybe I’m wrong.

    Played the £11 bh later
You know your running well when you manage to knock out Matt Bates, and Chris ( Rlt) the latter on the ft.
Managed to take it down which was nice, as we need a new washing machine.

That will act as a deposit ^

    Good evening reader.

Poker isn’t going great at present so rather than post a “ Made ft” update I thought why not regale you with some normal everyday stuff what happened on holiday, you know, things that happen to us all...doesn’t it?

    Set the scene
Having had a decent night sleep, and having had a morning shower, shave etc etc, I’m up and ready for the day, my good lady is busying herself drying her hair when ...kerblammo the lights go out, and very other electrical device in the room.

Ok.. First of all I’m utterly convinced ( And I actually did say to the wife) that Sarah is the cause of the electrical shortage due to drying her hair.
She ..on the other hand isn’t so convinced ....

Sarah “ Asks” me to go downstairs to reception and report the fault and see if it can be rectified soon, as she is in her dressing gown with hair that needs drying.
We had been in the hotel about 3 days, we are on the 19th floor, so obviously ‘We’ know our way round the hotel right?
    Erm...

So I toddle out of the room, now I know from previous trips to the lift that I turn left out of the room and walk down the corridor and the lifts are on the right hand side through a door.

    So..I turn left
    Walk down the corridor
Come to the end of the corridor
    No lift....

Walk back to the room, open the door, say to Sarah “ The lift has disappeared “
She looks at me as though I’d gone a tad crazy.
“ What on earth are you talking about Tom”
“ Sarah, I’m telling you now, the lift no longer exists , I’ve walked down the corridor, the way we always have and there is no lift”
“ Don’t be silly Tom, lifts don’t just disappear, are you sure you went the right way?”
“ I’m positive, come with me and I’ll show you”
“Tom, I’m in my dressing gown, my hair is wet, I’m not coming with you”
I could be wrong, But I think she was getting a bit wound up.

I try again, by this time there was a person in the corridor looking round to see what had happened to the electric, he was an American, I asked him where the lift was, he had just arrived and apparently couldn’t b.......y remember 😩
He also asked me what I thought was happening, he seemed perturbed something bad was happening, I almost told him not to worry as it’s my wife’s fault, but I thought better of it..

Walked the other way, came to the end of the other side of the corridor, it was a fire exit...no lift.
Went back to the room, told Sarah again.. Her answer persuaded me to try again.

    So... I try again.
Went to the ( What I originally thought) was the end of the corridor.
Would you believe - Fire doors close when the power goes off!
    Walked through the fire doors
    There’s the lift 😊

Proud of myself for finding the lift, I go down to Casino level.
    Guess what?
    All the machines were working.
Go to concierge desk ( I’d forgotten Sarah asked me to go to reception)
    Concierge said ask at reception.
    Waited a while
Reception person said they don’t know what the problem is, don’t know how long it’ll be off.
    Walk to the lift.
Go up to our room, tell Sarah the problem is an overload in our room due to people using the hairdryer in the bathroom.
Sometimes she isn’t too enamoured with my humour.

    Alls well that ends well..

    Have a good evening x

    Nice story Tom.

Where did that happen - Vegas, or elsewhere?

And yes, fire doors (which, when closed, prevent the spread of fire) are held open by electro-magnets. When there is a power interruption or the fire alarm activates, the magnets "let go" & the doors slam shut.

People are advised not to use the lifts (or "elevators" as they call them) when the Fire Alarm has activated, but they'd be OK in a Hotel-wide power failure as the Hotel would always have a back-up power supply via a generator.

PS - All that is proof that I'm the most boring person ever born.
