    Gl Boris and the UK👏

    I’m really warming to Boris.

I know what makes him tick.

    Really, congratulations.
    What might that be?
Please enlighten the more ignorant among us.

He likes winning, and gives everything 100%. He gets his just rewards by winning practically everything he tries for.

    He is a compulsive liar.
The fact that he has been fired from two jobs for lying, is well documented.
He is very intelligent, as the purchase of the 3 water cannons when he was London Mayor showed. The fact that they are illegal to use in this country didn't stop him. They were later sold as scrap for around 11k, proving he is a very safe pair of hands when it comes to spending our money.
What about the millions spent on the Garden Bridge, that never got off the ground?
There will be more to come from Jennifer Arcuri, and he cant even admit to how many kids he has.
The Boris photo that perfectly sums him up for me is the one where he is stranded halfway down a zipwire waving his legs, and his little flags.
Don't even get me started on his stupid, and racist comments.

Unlike others who sit on the fence and end up with splinters to their backsides.
    Indecisive folk aren’t Leader material.

Boris prefers to sit on both sides of the fence, and often provides contradictory answers to the same question from one day to the next.

There may be a little bit of trouble to come with Ireland ,but the SNP carry no clout, and need to start running their country far better than they’ve done up to now.

That sounds like something Boris would say about Ireland "there may be a little trouble to come".
The Good Friday Agreement, is just a detail to Boris.
He said no British PM would ever put a border in the Irish Sea, then he did.
The Troubles starting up again, is a price he is prepared to pay, as is the break up of the UK.
The SNP have over 90% of the seats in Scotland, and are the third biggest party in Westminster.
Much of the control in Scotland is still held by Westminster.

I’m looking out for some infighting between the big three Eurozone economies.
I think the car industry is in for really tough time throughout Europe.

    Ours seems doomed.

There’s so much finance involved in all areas of that industry.

    And?

I think people have got Boris wrong, he’s his own man.

Maybe it is you that has got Boris wrong?

To have won an election against the incompetent Jeremy Corbyn, is hardly a ringing endorsement, and just proves he was the best of a very, very bad bunch.

I wouldn’t actually blame Corbyn, even though he is weak leader.
I’d blame the very left members that voted for him.
I would rather go on the Boris adventure for change, than the Corbyn route for change.

Regarding lying, politics is often an unscrupulous buisness, that’s why Blair got into bed with Bush. The USA and the U.K. started something that they can’t finish.
They’ve destabilized many countries, killing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, creating more terrorism around the world, with millions of refugees and asylum seekers.
Blair is doing rather well for himself, isn’t he👍 The great persuader! Still at it today.
He seems to think his audience hangs on to his every word. He’s up his own.

It’s obvious that Boris will have to make concessions, call it lying if you like,I’d call it politics.
Generally it takes two years for a new government to make any real change, so throwing in Brexit, who knows.

Those photos from the hospitals that caused such a stink, were pathetic.
With hundreds of hospitals up and down the country, there are two photos that hit the news?
    It’s obvious the NHS needs more funding,limitless imo,but it’s a service , not a buisness.
Our population has grown too fast, slowing down the service, but building more hospitals is good for GDP, as would a nice bridge from Scotland to Northern Ireland.

As for the homeless, which some think are there through austerity, they will all have different stories. Some will be unfortunate, and will have fallen on hard times, some will fall into different categories entirely.
Raising the minimum wage won’t bring most of those defined as living in poverty, out of it.
I saw real poverty in my road in the 60’s, I don’t think it’s anywhere near that these days.
Obviously you need food, but each case needs looking at closely imo.
Some cases can be self inflicted.
These last two generations have been the “ must have” generations.
My family had to go without if we couldn’t afford something when I was a lad.
Rents are expensive in this country, and will most likely go up with any increases with property prices. That definitely won’t help anybody living in poverty.
Some need teaching about not living beyond their means
    That’s all for now,boldly away, I’m sure I’ll have a view.
    Happy New Year.

There is no doubt in my mind that Corbyn is more responsible for the election result than Boris.

He seems to think his audience hangs on to his every word. He’s up his own.

There is a good old British saying which is "two wrongs don't make a right".
To minimise Mr Johnsons compulsive lying, on the basis that someone else might have told more, or worse, or bigger lies is just silly.
I think Tony Blair has some sensible views on the EU, and the Labour Party.

It’s obvious that Boris will have to make concessions, call it lying if you like,I’d call it politics.

If you don't know the difference between lies, politics, and concessions, I am not going to explain it to you.
Boris also has a real difficulty with maths.
The NHS is going to get 50,000 new nurses, but 19,000 are already working there, 40 new hospitals, but only 6 in the fairly near future, and the other 34 maybe in 10 years time. We are all going to be better off by £500 after raising the threshold for NI, he forget to mention that it will be £85 soon, and the rest sometime in the future. No border checks between UK/NI.

Boris Johnson aims to change National Insurance rules so workers will not have to pay it until they earn £12,500.
The Tory leader earlier said his party would put up the threshold to ensure "low tax for working people" if it wins the general election.
But he later confirmed to the BBC it would be raised to £9,500 in the first budget of a Tory government, with no timetable for the additional £3,000.

Mr Johnson had promised to raise the threshold to £12,500 during the Tory leadership contest.

But the PM said bringing in the £9,500 threshold sooner would "help with the cost of living" and "put £500 in the pocket of everybody" - although a later press release claimed the saving would be around £100 per person.
Both figures are still higher than the estimate of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, who said the threshold would save workers about £85 per year and cost the government £2bn.

Generally it takes two years for a new government to make any real change, so throwing in Brexit, who knows.

I am not sure what facts you are basing this on?
    Maybe Boris facts?

Those photos from the hospitals that caused such a stink, were pathetic.

Not for the young children involved, or the woman that died after waiting 6 hours for an ambulance.
Tell her family the photos were pathetic.

With hundreds of hospitals up and down the country, there are two photos that hit the news?

Waiting times are at an all time high. The funding levels under the Tories are at an all time low.
    What could you expect?

    It’s obvious the NHS needs more funding,limitless imo,but it’s a service , not a buisness.
Our population has grown too fast, slowing down the service, but building more hospitals is good for GDP, as would a nice bridge from Scotland to Northern Ireland.

Ask the Boris referendum bus about NHS funding.
A bridge between two countries that may well not even be part of the UK in the nearish future, may be a good idea for them.

As for the homeless, which some think are there through austerity, they will all have different stories. Some will be unfortunate, and will have fallen on hard times, some will fall into different categories entirely.

A very astute and I am sure, well thought out, and well researched view.
Alternatively you could accept that those that are struggling need help, without attaching any blame.

Raising the minimum wage won’t bring most of those defined as living in poverty, out of it.

    Why not?

I saw real poverty in my road in the 60’s, I don’t think it’s anywhere near that these days.

    Based on?

Obviously you need food, but each case needs looking at closely imo.
Some cases can be self inflicted.

Don't help them then, just leave them die?

These last two generations have been the “ must have” generations.
My family had to go without if we couldn’t afford something when I was a lad.

Going without a 50 inch telly, is not necessarily poverty?

Rents are expensive in this country, and will most likely go up with any increases with property prices. That definitely won’t help anybody living in poverty.

More likely to be supply and demand.
People living in poverty are unlikely to be paying their own rent.

Some need teaching about not living beyond their means

Of course they must be just stupid?

    That’s all for now,boldly away, I’m sure I’ll have a view.
    Happy New Year.

Keir Starmer Favourite To Lead Labour Party, Poll Suggests

Keir Starmer is comfortably leading the race to take over from Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party, a poll of party members has revealed.
The shadow Brexit secretary is ahead of Rebecca Long-Bailey, the shadow business secretary who appears to be a favourite of the left-wing of the party.
The YouGov survey of 1,059 members, who were polled between December 20 and 30. has Starmer out in front in each round under the party’s preferential voting system.

The system knocks out the least popular candidates until one has more than 50%. By the final round round of voting, Starmer secures 61% and Long-Bailey is on 39%.
The poll put Starmer on 31% for first choice votes, 20% backed Long-Bailey, Jess Phillips received 11%, and Clive Lewis and Yvette Cooper were the first choice for 7%, according to the poll.
Emily Thornberry was on 6% and Lisa Nandy was backed by 5% as first choice.

    Economy 'boom'
The Financial Times says its annual survey suggests any bounce to the UK economy prompted by Boris Johnson's election win will "fizzle out" in the coming months.
More than 85 leading economists were questioned by the paper - with most predicting little or no improvement in economic growth until Britain agrees a trade deal with the EU.
The Daily Express paints a more upbeat picture of the UK's longer term prospects, saying the economy will "boom" in the next decade - powered by working people over the age of 65.
The paper says official figures suggest people in their 60s will take up more than half of all new jobs created by 2030.

Kevin Maguire looks at the Christmas crackers and the real puddings from a tumultuous year which saw Brexit battles and a December general election

Our PM is an incompetent, lazy, nasty pathological liar

Turkey: Sorry but this incompetent, lazy, nasty pathological liar might be PM with an 80-seat parliamentary majority but watch it all go wrong for scheming egotist Boris Johnson.
If the Tory chancer gets his hard Brexit done, conned Britain will be poorer and weaker.

UK economy starting 2020 in ‘stagnation’ and uncertainty, British Chambers of Commerce warn
Boris Johnson must use his massive majority to take ‘big decisions’ to support business

The UK has entered 2020 with its economy in “stagnation”, amid long-term uncertainty and rising business costs, according to a new report.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said its research suggested “protracted weakness” across the economy, affecting firms in manufacturing and services.

The BCC’s survey of more than 6,400 businesses, covering the final quarter of 2019, highlighted a worsening picture in the services sector, which accounts for almost 80 per cent of economic output.
All of the sector’s key indicators worsened compared to the previous quarter, remaining well below their historic average. And the balance of manufacturers reporting a rise in export and domestic orders was negative for the second consecutive quarter – the first time this has happened since 2009 and 2011 respectively.

I read from the bottom up and didn’t read the initial boldy.
I detect your not happy about something Haysie.
Considering some think this country has been in some sort of crisis for a decade, the only real protests I’ve seen are for remaining and global warming.
Maybe a massive demonstration on NHS funding in the City was required?
There never was one though, so obviously not high up on anybody’s agenda until election time.
Which is par for the course.
Glossing over the fact that Blair has told the most despicable lie in decades, and the fallout thereafter, is not good imo.
He’s an evil greedy man,in his own bubble, that’s what power does to some.
He should have been brought to justice, but that’s politics for you.Forget the party he led, that’s insignificant.

Things to do... More NHS funding, more school funding, more for policing and fighting crime, infrastructure spending, rejuvenating areas, dredging rivers, affordable home building, plant the odd tree or three, etc, etc.
All the above and more require investment,so attracting investment is the key.
Unfortunately most of our profitable, good cash flow businesses are already in foreign ownership,
    we’ve been pillaged .
Now is actually a good time to borrow 100’s of billions of ££,s, with interest rates where they are.The Eurozone will be doing likewise, I’m sure.

Forget all the above if the 3rd World War kicks off in the early hours.

Nearly 3.5 million UK working age people have 'never had a job'

The proportion of people of working age who have never been in a job has increased by 50% over the past two decades, a new study suggests.
According to think tank Resolution Foundation, 8.2% of people aged 16-64 in the UK today (3.4 million in total) have never had a paid job.
This is a 50% increase since 1998 when 5.4% had never worked.
Its report said the employment rate of 16 to 17-year-olds has virtually halved over the past two decades - from 48.1% in 1997-99 to 25.4% in 2017-19.

19 WTF moments in 2019 politics that made us question if any of this is real
UK politics has been a wild ride over the last 12 months - here we round up some of the weirdest and most wonderful moments that befell our glorious leaders at
    Westminster

It's been quite a year in UK politics.
We've had one general election, two Prime Ministers, three parties for Chuka Umunna and four Brexit deadlines.

    2. When Boris Johnson hid in a fridge, after which his team steadfastly denied he hid in a fridge

24 hours before the election, Boris Johnson retreated into a large fridge when a Good Morning Britain reporter ambushed him to ask him to appear on the show.
One of the PM's aides could be seen mouthing 'oh for f***'s sake' as the reporter approached the group while Mr Johnson joined an early morning milk round in Yorkshire.
The Tory leader said "I'll be with you in a second" but walked off before ITV host Piers Morgan exclaimed "he's gone into the fridge".
A Tory source later stressed no one "hid in a fridge". Mr Johnson later joked about the incident in a reception for Westminster journalists.

    8. When Mark Francois had a staring match with Will Self on live TV after a taunt about his genitals

Author Will Self said every racist in the country "probably voted for Brexit ” in a bizarrely heated confrontation with Leave supporting Tory MP Mark Francois.
The pair's cool glare at each other lit up the internet.
Mr Francois later protested: "Just before we began the interview he asked me a question about my genitalia. The guy was looking to wind me up. He definitely wanted an argument."
Comedian Grace Campbell, who was on the show that day, claimed Self "told Francois he had a little ****".

    13. When Boris Johnson admitted he makes model buses out of wine crates

During the Tory leadership race, Boris Johnson revealed he spends his spare time making model buses out of wine boxes.
In a bizarre moment during a radio interview, the Tory PM hopeful went on at length about how he relaxes by crafting large replicas of London buses.
He explained that he takes wine crates, paints them red and adds paintings of people inside the buses, enjoying themselves.
He told TalkRadio's Ross Kempsell: "I like to paint or I make things.
"I make, I have a thing where I make models of... When I was mayor of London... I make, buses. I make models of buses."

    17. THAT Richard Burgon exchange with Sky's Kay Burley

Kay Burley: "The polls say you won't win"

Richard Burgon: "The polls said we wouldn't win last time"

    Kay Burley: "You didn't..."

    18. When a Tory MP was caught setting up a 'spontaneous' interview with his mate

A Tory candidate was caught getting his friend to act as a 'swing voter' by TV journalist Michael Crick.
Lee Anderson, who has now ousted Labour to become MP for Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, was trying to impress the rottweiler journalist when he called up his pal to help him.
Not realising he was still wearing a mic, he was recorded saying: "Don't make out that you don't know who I am... you know I'm the candidate, but not a friend, alright?"
He told him what to do when they arrived and minutes later Mr Anderson he brought the journalist to his pal's door.

    19. When Boris Johnson completed his long-awaited transformation into Alan Partridge

Boris Johnson went full Alan Partridge on the election campaign trail by driving a digger through a fake wall.
On a visit to a JCB factory in Stafford, the Tory Leader drove vehicle emblazoned with Union Flags through a white wall with 'gridlock' written on it.

It's a reference to the supposed gridlock in Parliament that stopped Mr Johnson getting his Brexit deal through.
Much like Mr Johnson’s supposed gridlock the wall was not real and was in fact made of white polystyrene bricks.

    1. When Tory conference went into lockdown and armed police were called over an MP trying to get his wife into a VIP lounge

    3. When a Cabinet minister had four ovens, but insisted they were just 'two normal, double ovens'

I detect your not happy about something Haysie.
Considering some think this country has been in some sort of crisis for a decade, the only real protests I’ve seen are for remaining and global warming.

    Protests rarely accomplish anything.

Maybe a massive demonstration on NHS funding in the City was required?

Every year for the last 10?

There never was one though, so obviously not high up on anybody’s agenda until election time.
Which is par for the course.

    You sound like Boris/Trump now.

Glossing over the fact that Blair has told the most despicable lie in decades, and the fallout thereafter, is not good imo.
He’s an evil greedy man,in his own bubble, that’s what power does to some.

    Really?

He should have been brought to justice, but that’s politics for you.Forget the party he led, that’s insignificant.

Why do you think he wasn't?

Things to do... More NHS funding, more school funding, more for policing and fighting crime, infrastructure spending, rejuvenating areas, dredging rivers, affordable home building, plant the odd tree or three, etc, etc.

The Tories have made dramatic cuts to all these areas during the last 10 years.

All the above and more require investment,so attracting investment is the key.
Unfortunately most of our profitable, good cash flow businesses are already in foreign ownership,
    we’ve been pillaged .

Pointing this out does not improve the situation.

Now is actually a good time to borrow 100’s of billions of ££,s, with interest rates where they are.The Eurozone will be doing likewise, I’m sure.

Reducing the deficit, and not borrowing was apparently the reason they made the cuts in the first place.
Every Brexit option damages the economy.
Borrowing loads of money combined with less income is not usually a formula for success.

Forget all the above if the 3rd World War kicks off in the early hours.
