Evening all. Hope everyone is ok.

I've no idea what this is going to be yet, diary, confessional or something in between but I think I need to record something and twitter doesn't give me enough characters :)

Bit of back story from me first. I've been playing on Sky for 8 years or so, badly at first, but with help from the tv shows and playing against better players, I improved. I got good enough to win a couple of main events too. In 2016 I almost died. A combination of swine flu, double bacterial pneumonia, sepsis and kidney failure. It really did a number on my body and my mind. The right side of my body only moved sporadically, not great for playing online poker, getting aces in the bb and someone shoves but you can't move your hand to click call.

I have Aspburgers. I was high functioning for a very long time but I have been getting worse and worse. I have sort help but it is a long process. Things move slowly with NHS mental health support. I am getting better, slowly. I lost my job and my flat and have moved into supported housing. That will help me both mentally and physically but it will be a long road back.

Now for the poker bit, at last :). I last played for a few months at the back end of 2018 and emptied my account to get my girls bunk beds and me an xbox. I had the intention of taking a month or so off and then deposit and start playing. That, unfortunately, coincided with me losing my job. It's hard to deposit when you're on universal credit. I managed to get my balance up to just over £9 by a combination of the free games on Vegas and Bingo and the free tips from the Betting Emporium and then decided to treat myself to a few MTT's. I ran well, very well. I took enough bounties in one to make a small profit, crashed and burned in one and managed to win one! That gave me a bit of a bankroll and a bit of confidence. I've been playing up to £5 bh, some sats and a bit of both PLO and PLO8. I do like Omaha. I managed to get second in a UKOPS PLO event once :) I do have to a bit of relearning it but that will be fun.

I now have a decent enough bankroll for me of just over £350, I just had to withdraw a bit as I needed a new laptop. I have a long term plan to get enough to go to see my adopted German football team, Union Berlin, play next season. The beeb did a short documentary on them at the end of last year. It should be out there somewhere on T'internet and it is well worth a view.

If anyone has any questions for me, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Take care and run well at the tables, try not to remember the beats you take, just the ones you give.

Mark.

    Hi

I remember you posting a lot a while back

An understatement, but it sounds like you’ve had a terrible time.
How’s your health now? Is your movement back?

Sounds like you’ve done well to get to the bankroll you have from £9

What games and stakes are you planning to play from this point on?

Health is as ok as it's going to get. Limited movement all down my right side most of the time but I can cope with it now.

To be honest, I had run good at the right time for the bankroll. BRM isn't really possible with £9 :) I will be playing all of the MTTs I can up to £5. I'm comfortable playing 2 tables at once now and trying to build to 3. I used to be able to do 6 but I doubt if I can get back to that and I'm ok with that

Cheers. I've had some bad as well as good now, about even I would say. My style of play is fairly aggressive which can lead to me getting, and giving, some beats but you take the rough with the smooth. It's why you need to make sure you are rolled for the level you want to play.

Welcome back Mark, you chav ;)

I thought I spotted you on one of my tables earlier, but play with 'chat off' mainly now.

All the best with everything pal. Take it easy though, and try to play poker for the fun.

Look out for the FTT thread (the old DTD games) on a Monday. Still 3 games for a fiver , even though one is now a Bounty Hunter.

I like PLO, but there are hardly any games on here. I dont like PLO8 (not clever enough/good enough to play it).

Are you still into that WWF nonsense wrestling? ;)

    Cheers,
    Alan

    Welcome back and good luck.

A little tip if you still have problems with your right side, try using the mouse in your left hand. I had to do so a few years ago when I had surgery on my right arm and it's actually a real benefit when working as it means I can use the mouse and write at the same time. You obviously don't need to be writing while playing poker but it might stop you missing those calls with aces.

    Welcome back.

I seem to remember you were a serial winner on the ch865 caption competitions, many a time I would think of something vaguely witty and then see your contribution and muck my hand.

Yep I agree with what Enut says, I have a trapped nerve in my neck which affects my right arm and I get neck pain, shooting pains and pins and needles whenever I do anything, so I use my left hand for most things now, wee bit slower but it works, best of luck to you.

I’ve played you a couple of times already this last couple of weeks so Hi!

In terms of ‘ conditions’ I’ve been reliably informed that @MAXALLY has a severe case of deep pockets and short arms, when he’s near a bar? >:)>:)
