raised nearly £39m for NHS so it said, well done Tom.
A fundraising event billed “Captain Tom Day” has been postponed in the wake of disclosures about the finances of a charity set up in the name of the veteran, The Independent has been told.
Dame Esther Rantzen, who has been partnering with the Captain Tom Foundation, revealed the day – planned for June – was on hold while the Charity Commission looked into the organisation. She also indicated she might cut ties with the charity if the watchdog’s findings were negative.
Escape for Colditz The ICO said: “We can confirm we received complaints in relation to the Captain Tom Foundation. After meeting with the charity, we provided advice on data protection and direct marketing rules, and decided no further action was needed. The case has been closed.”

'We're not hiding anything': Captain Sir Tom Moore's daughter tearfully denies claims she swindled her late father's fundraising cash as she tells This Morning she's been 'naive' but 'that doesn't mean we're bad'
Hannah Ingram-Moore told ITV's This Morning that 'we're not hiding anything' and accused the media of 'damaging' her late father's legacy. Captain Tom became a national icon after raising nearly £40million for the NHS during the coronavirus crisis by walking laps of his garden to mark his 100th birthday in the first lockdown. A charity named after the Second World War veteran, who died after testing positive for the virus last year, was set up to celebrate the older generation and contribute to organisations who support them. However, a proposed Captain Tom Day in June has been postponed following claims that his family swindled the NHS fundraising cash.
I recall a well-known (now defunct) charity pulling this stunt many years ago. They forgot to mention that the "profits" were only after the staggeringly-high salaries of the key personnel were paid.
People are fooled into thinking "profits" means a large amount. But costs can be arranged so that the charity gets peanuts. Which is why the actual amount has to be clearly stated-like the less than 3% per bottle on the 1 that was telling the truth.

Its a good thing that he will be remembered for his own exploits, rather than his daughters.

I so hope you are right.
He showed that it was possible to capture the mood of the nation by a selfless act.
Quite why his family want to attempt to ruin this lovely memory by acts more akin to Conservative politicians with snouts in troughs is rather sad.
