Mark Clattenburg makes extraordinary referee suggestion live on air during AC Milan vs Liverpool.
Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has suggested match official Espen Eskas should have been awarding free kicks to AC Milan to help him keep control of the Champions League tie vs Liverpool. The home crowd at the San Siro had been raucous all night especially after Christian Pulisic gave Milan the early lead.
its going to be a tough one today I fear this will be southamptons first win of the season and the start of when they turn stuff around and make top six for europe which I really hope does not happen. I would love to see them go back down but I just dont see that happening sadly.
I will take a draw If I could make the deal I mean yes I would prefer an Ipswich win but realistically a draw is likely the best deal we can hope for.
Was it handball? Yes. Should he have been booked? Possibly.
What I found more interesting was it showed the sensible limits placed on VAR. Didn't involve a goal-scoring opportunity. Not dangerous. So none of VAR's business.
People need to decide what they want. Letting a game flow better, and allow slight imperfections. Or move to a situation where every single decision is checked and rechecked. Improving accuracy. At the expense of entertainment.
Fans fume after VAR denies West Ham a penalty against Chelsea because Wesley Fofana's grab on Crysencio Summerville was only 'fleeting'.
West Ham United were denied what many fans felt was a blatant penalty during the first half of Saturday's 3-0 London derby defeat by Chelsea.
The Hammers were already 2-0 down thanks to an early Nicolas Jackson double when Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana grabbed hold of Crysencio Summerville inside the 18-yard box just before the half-hour mark.
Referee Samuel Barrott did not point to the spot but the incident was then reviewed by the VAR team.
Following a short review, the VAR advised referee Barrott to stick with his original decision, much to the annoyance of West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui.
The rationale behind that decision, as communicated by the TNT Sports commentary team, was apparently that Fofana's grab on Summerville had only been 'fleeting'. This explanation only seemed to annoy viewers even more.

Cannot have it both ways.

Heavy flooding on the pitch has meant that the pitch is far from playable with significant flooding around the outside of the ground.
