At the very least, it is good to have some clarity on the situation. Change is often frightening, but similarly, it can be fruitful, and on many occasions... necessary for continued growth.

Forums cost next to nothing to run. It's a shame it can't persist.

Will it be similar to the “exciting new changes” in the Gulf of America?

Been out to work and I come back to this! (not entirely unexpected though).7

    Questions.....

    1. Does @Tikay10 keep his part time job and 6 figure salary?
    2. Can I get the 50% rakeback that I used to get when I played on the iPoker skin 10+ years ago?
    3. Will my Skypoker sweatshirt, lovingly stored in the bottom of a cupboard, become a collectors item?
    4. Hopefully the PLO8 MTTs will continue with maybe more in the mix?

p.s. the first 3 are very much tongue in cheek.

Does anyone here play on Ipoker already ?

Does Ipoker with a built in HUD or would I have to buy PT3 ?

Not a fan of the HUD but if others have it its essential.

Will HUD's be allowed on all games? ipoker and Sky exclusive games?

Also how will the Sky exclusive games work, just Sky Poker account holders having access?

Intrigued how this is going to work, but good luck should be a good thing.

Not sure how they would block huds on ipoker, but maybe possible behind the scenes.

As for exclusive games, if you log onto sky poker ipoker skin it will show the exclusive games.

Indeed you would think HUD across all games, Sky exclusive games seems pointless - probably be phased out :) true HUD stats incoming - should be funny times

I'm still hoping the headline games will be available. Basically sky poker but with ipoker software. (6max etc). If it moves to mainly the iPoker network 3 hour long late reg games then I may become even more of a recreational player.

    As an example...

Actually, about to late reg the Monday Main....

I've been here pretty much from the start. Sky say this is good but i have British Airways telling me i now need to spend £20k to get gold when previously it was £5k, so I'll have to wait and see. I'd just like to say thank you to Tikay for the recent and the dim and distant 865 past, it's been a fun ride, but it may be time to get off, regards Adrian

There is a basic built in HUD

A move that will lead to the recreational players getting rinsed I am afraid. I spent almost 9 years on Ipoker and only recently came back here. Is the software better on Ipoker? Yes. However, the software on SKY Poker is perfect for the recreational player.

    1. Short time banks
    2. No HUD
    3. Short registration periods
    4. Small fields
    5. Faster structures
    6. 6 max tourneys
    7. Low buy ins

It creates a far more level playing field.

They are great for serious players and pro's who gain an even bigger edge, but the recreational player has his/her work cut out not to lose a lot very quickly.

Very good post, I agree with everything you say. SKY as it is is a much more level playing field and its better for it.

It creates a far more level playing field.

IPOKER is mostly 8 max, euro buy ins, Field sizes up to 800 for their bigger guaranteed events. Much longer late reg periods and slower blind structures meaning a good guaranteed network event will take at least 10 hours to finish. 20-30 seconds to act and timebanks up to 1 minute. In built HUD and third party HUD's allowed. Stack sizes available in Big Blinds. Mass multi tabling much easier because of the above. There are also ante's from the start of tourneys. May not seem like much but needs a different strategy and alters opening, shove & 3bet shove ranges.

They are great for serious players and pro's who gain an even bigger edge, but the recreational player has his/her work cut out not to lose a lot very quickly.

If SKY keep an exclusive tournament schedule for SKY customers only (ie their current headliners & daily freerolls), and keep the same structures for them as now then the better software would enhance the experience for the current SKY Poker crowd.

However, no other skin has done this and SKY will be hard pushed to keep their current customers happy on the new network without at least trying.

Just my 2 penneth for what it's worth having played on a number of Ipoker skins for the last 9 years.

PS. I much prefer SKY now that I am not taking poker so seriously and have much less time to play.

    Great post.

Agree with pretty much everything you say here!

Oh dear God no, I was hoping we'd be spared those. At least with the Forum closing we'll be spared those. Every cloud & all that.
