It's a sad Day .... it's a very sad Day.... it's even sadder than that.
I still think free tables will be available Don
Free play tables on here have been empty of newbies and reg's for some time. Miranda is a very sad girl Sky Poker didn't love her anymore ........ sob!
I did see a post a few years back that said, sky would be merging with poker stars?? what happened there then? owned by the same company no?
SkyBet merged with PokerStars, which in turn was bought out by Flutter.
In relation to possible platforms for Sky Poker, the total absence of a budget for developing software etc always meant that Sky Poker was going to use someone else's at some stage.
Stars is part of the Group. So are various "skins" on i-poker, such as Paddy Power and Betfair. And i-poker has far more experience of allowing a measure of independence for its skins.
I really hope I am not locked out of playing until late May...
I don't understand why you have been locked out at all.
I strongly suspect that the reason you have been given is simply not true. By that I do not mean you are lying, or indeed that anyone at Sky is-I just think someone has had a bit of a guess as to why you are locked out-because it makes no sense.
I play a lot less poker than I used to-but i-poker has never had any problem ensuring that people do not play on more than 1 skin at a time on there. I have had accounts with the (now moved away from i-poker) Mansion, Everest and Coral, as well as Will Hill, Grosvenor and a few others. There have been several occasions when I had pre-reg'd for an MTT in 1 skin and was still playing on another-always picked up.
Where it will get interesting is how, and how much, any Sky uniques will run. Because that varies a lot from skin to skin (or at least used to).
Finally, any flagship Sky MTT will need a new name. May I suggest:-

Sad times, hoping that it’s not as bad as it sounds. I guess the popularity of the sky exclusives will determine their longevity and success so it’s up to us to make that happen.
I appreciate some questions may have already been answered.
1. I have the same logging in user name on another ipoker site -Grosvernor-, of which I'd like to keep (email too). How will that work with sky moving to ipoker? Will my account cease to exist?
2. Will it still be UK only or will players from different parts of europe/ the world be able to play sky tournaments via different ipoke platforms? i.e. Could I play a sky tournament using my ipoker Grosvenor account or will the sky tournaments be exclusive to sky members only?
3. Will sky continue to host the current roster of tournaments as they are (The 22s, 33s and 110s?)
4. The sky structures are perfect for the reacreational player.
6max, 50% bounty. Bounty awarded once you're out of the tournament. No antes. Fast run times. Short registrations and more.
Sky poker plays like your local casino's online site. It's casual and it's not looking for ways to eploit the degenerates that most of us are. i.e. extremely long late registrations with unlimited re-entries, speaking of re entries. Last registrant on sky still has a very playable 25bb on average (haven't looked at them all), meanwhile ipoker, 888 and such have unlimitted registration for anything from 3 hour to 4 hours and 15 minutes of late registration. Last registrants usually come in under 10 bigs. Really taps into the gambler within you with the re entries.
Will the move to ipoker mean sky tournaments will now have antes and long late registrations?
How will sky maintain the player focused-ness (should be a word) and great community qualities that make it quite honestly the best place to play poker? Since discovering skypoker. I haven't played much elsewhere other than here and live cash games. Don't much like tournaments but I enjoy sky tournaments.
Lastly: A fair warning to recreationals such as myself. If you only ever play on sky. RUN. Try it sure but do so with one foot out the door. ipoker is a nasty place to be a recreational.
If you don't study 5-10 hours a week at the bare minimum: RUN If you lack bankroll discipline: RUN
If you tick either of those two, ipoker ain't for you. RUN!!
Crushers will benefit, the rest of us will drown.
iPoker is the opposite of everything sky stands for, with a ''better software''. You can lose your money with a nice view. Personally I hate it, it's too cluttered and noisey. love the simplicity of sky
Don't know what iPoker is - I only play Sky because I like the simple old style interface and low stake leisurely paced games. *Tournaments with 50-150 players.
Read a few comments - hope it's not going to be fancy high pace 'gamer' style experience.
Will player notes and labels be transferred across? I have accumulated them for over 14 years now, so would be a shame to lose them. Just a thought, I reckon you can request a csv file of your player notes from Sky James and he would happily supply them.
I have about 10 different aliases already on i-poker, and pretty sure "essexphil" is 1 of them. So (if this works like all the other skins) I will have to have a different name.
Which reminds me. I remember many years ago Party merged with someone else, and they would not allow me to use the same name, because "someone else already has it". I provided proof it was me-still couldn't use it.

I don't know enough about the transition details to reply to much, but as to this point, @Sky__James replied earlier in the thread thusly...
"To avoid the issue of duplicates the plan is to have '-sky' at the end of your alias. The only other option is to allow everyone to pick a new alias but I want to keep the continuity and I think players would prefer to be able to recognise each other still."

Sky was great when i joined with the TV channel as well but its been a bit downhill ever since. Had some great times at SPT's as well.
Big thanks to all the staff and the man himself for keeping all this going for so long

Morning Graham.
I understand that player notes will NOT transfer across.
It's unfortunate, but nothing can be done about it.
