+1 to other posters. You can drop fat and inches with absolutely no weight loss showing on the scales due to muscle gain caused by exercise. The weight loss will follow later, but only if you keep it up.
Always remember weight loss is down to roughly 80% diet, 20% excercise. Becoming a finess fanatic can only take you so far. Improved eating habits (forever, not temporary diets) will have a greater effect.
Much like in poker, short-term results matter very little compared to long-term results. Your long-term health/weight/lifestyle changes documented in this thread are superb.
Going into the final week of my 5 week weight loss challenge I needed to lose 3.5 lbs or more to get to my goal of being 15 stone.
It's honestly been the most gruelling week, harder than I imagined when I designed the training schedule.
The first few days were hard but ok, then on Tuesday I really pushed myself harder than ever before. Everything on the schedule, and more.
I could barely get out of bed Wednesday morning, yet I had 3 full exercise sessions to complete.
Tired, hungry, every single part of my body was aching. I was in a very dark place, and the daily weigh ins were offering me little to no encouragement.
I was very tempted to give up!!
Anyway it was all worth it today when I got on the scales and saw I was 15 stone exactly, down from 15st 10.5lbs on new yrs day.
Scrambled to get my phone asap for a picture before it trolled me and went up to 15st 1/4 lbs as it loves to do.
My scales have a sick sense of humour.
Im looking and feeling alot better about myself than I did during December.
Naturally, with the "super strict" diet I've not had a drink so far this year.
That will change this afternoon, few beers and a game of cards for the first time this year too. (well the first optional game, I was forced to play a silly tourny).
Then out tonight for a game of arrows.
Going to prepare a big healthy spag boo for when I get in to stop myself ordering £20 worth of Chinese food on the way home again.
Hopefully I can learn from my mistakes last time when I started " treating" myself a little too reguarly and I ended up fat miserable and depressed again.
It's amazing what a spoonful of Nutella can do to a pan of porridge though, best breakfast ever

Amazing work on the diet, I know how hard it is, I have the same weight problem & dieting problems as you do. Not easy, but very satisfying when it works. Congrats.

Really impressed JJ.
Awesome results. First bold is important BUT second bold is MORE important.
P.S. Nutella in porridge? Hasn't it been banned? Porridge I mean ;-)
Bit of a mess yesterday, plenty to drink and I jumped out the taxi on the way home at the kebab house and ordered the biggest pizza they'd sell me.
Blew a 10 - 7 - 4 lead in the darts too, in a winner stays on format my brother won the last 3 legs to tie 10-10, with the old man lagging behind on 4 legs.
We're all pretty even (equally as bad as eachother), although if anyone has an edge I'd probably say it's Dad, so a very poor night for him being so far behind.
I wired double 16 for a 152 finish too
Played a little bit of poker yesterday afternoon, 3rd in a £11 BH, 10th in a $2r on 888pokerz which had $300 for first (99 < 78s aipf did for me).
Then lost £90 @ cash.
So I was about £30 down.
Drunkenly punted £60 on sheff wed to beat wigan, which paid out a profit of £96.
So alls well that ends well.
Regular poker will be returning to the schedule next week, as my gym pass runs out on Tuesday, and I'll be back on the regular exercise routine of just running and swimming.
Just trying to maintain my weight, rather than striving to lose any more.
Time to start looking for Februarys half marathon too.
6 mile+ run tomorrow first to work a few slices of that pizza off.
I must admit after all the recent giddymess im looking forward to the daily report of the football results today. 180 minutes against bottom and 2nd bottom and your boys couldn't score a goal between them. "oh dear" Posted by DOHHHHHHH
I guess there's only one worse thing than my boys struggling to score against 2nd bottom.... your boys struggling to score against 2nd bottom AND conceding 2 goals
Doncaster let me down today in a 8 fold for just short of 300 notes. I run so bad! Hope they can still win the League though as I have got them in my end of season bets.
BTW...going to a kebab house and coming out with a pizza is a fail in my book
Having a game of cards this afternoon and then out to eratically propell some arrows at seemingly miniscule targets tonight.
Hyped for a galon or so for the old mans Birthday after what's been a grim weekend laid up in bed for 52 hours with toothache.
Saw the doctor yesterday.
After 2 years of constanct visits, routine appointments, blood tests, medication reviews, councilling, varying strengths of depression pills, she's finally referred me to the hospital to see a fatigue specialist.
I almost smiled and laughed at her when she said that.
As if to say, ha yea wouldn't it be great if that was an option.
Then I realised she wasn't joking and it actually is a real option.
Errrr, why the f didnt you refer me to a fatigue specialist 2 years ago?
When you, and no less than 5 other healthcare professionals couldn't find anything wrong with me?
what!
Anyway, if I don't laugh I'll cry.
So "lol"
----
Weight management is going well.
No longer in "bust my balls to lose as much as I can" mode.
Sitting contently in "just do enough to not get any fatter" mode.
Cruising.
Ticking over between 15st and 15.3st in the daily weight ins.
Fitness all good, did 2 miles in just over 15 minutes last week.
Which for me is RAPID.
Slow for most, but in my first venture out in to the world of Fitness on new years day 2015 it took me 50 minutes to walk a mile n half.

Anyway cards this afternoon and a few Cooors Light
If you're any good, go the gym or something.
If you're useless at poker id love to see you at the tables in a few hours.

You only have to run 1.5 miles in 10:30 to be considered fit enough for the Army so 2 miles in 15 minutes isn't bad at all. Amazing how far you have come.
how good are you? excellent year so far jj Posted by aussie09
Hi Rob, as this probably wont get approved until a fortnight next Tuesday, Im going to take a guess and say it's the year to date ROI leaderboard that I saw on 'the book' earlier?
If so that will be heavily squewed by the one result I had in the big BH which I got in for free.
Having said that, I am taking on the unthinkable challenge of playing MTTs properly, mainly here on skypoker but bits and bobs elsewhere, tonight (just started) will be the 4th night in the last 6 that I've played a full low stakes schedule here, so I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing myself on a few more of your leaderboards soon!
I've been using them daily to 'skope' out some of the lesser known (to me at least) dangermen and women in the lower stakes mtt waters.
It's been an underwhelming start for me so far. Lets hope I can register a final table or two tonight, maybe even a win ????
