I don't know if it's just that it wore me down, but I thought the US Office improved with time... the first couple of series were just really bad and, although I still prefer the original, the later series' provided a good way to pass some time.

Are you working to any sort of timescales to hitting the +$25k mark or is it just an open-ended thing to aim for while sticking to something like a standard volume of games?  All the best with getting there however you manage it!!

It was interesting to read you comments about the .fr site. It seems weird in this modern world that any site would stay too soft for more than a few weeks, with so many sharks about trying to scrape a living (or at least a decent beer fund) - most of which seem to be playing multi-sites and use the sort of forums that must quickly share advice as to where you can find the weakest games.

I suppose its a bit more understandable with somewhere like Sky (due to no HUD / tracker) but I get the impression that we are very much in the minority here in not allowing 3rd party software.

    Hey Shakin.

No there's no timescale or anything.

There was 2 reasons why I decided to take on the 'challenge'.

    a) To give my sessions direction. I'm not 'grinding' as such at the mo, so when I play I want to get something out of the sessions. Previously I'd flick £20 onto a few sites, play a handful of 5,000 runner turbo mtts, inevitably brick everything, and log off thinking 'what a waste of time'. But what did I expect to happen, really? 5,000/1 shots are rare :(

At least with this I can't sit procrastinating throughout sessions.

    b) Because I noticed my skope graph was at an all time high and I wanted an excuse to brag about it on here.

20 sessions to make $2.1k would be a reasonable target though.

    -------------

3 days to go until the Ryder Cup.

I've been watching some of the replays from past events on the Sky Sports Ryder Cup channel, and have decided to have a moan in advance....

It is without doubt the best sporting event to watch on TV in my opinion.

It's so intense due to it being over a 3 day period, and non-stop action, whereas other potential rivals in that catagory such as the football World Cup, and The Ashes unfold over 6-8 weeks.

But how difficult can it be for 2 teams to wear the same colour kit?

It doesnt have to be red v blue, as long as they're all in the same colour.

So often they'll cut to a shot, and I'll have no idea if it's an American or a European until the graphic comes on screen, the commentator decides to tell us, or the crowd lets us know.

It's even more annoying when half the Europeans are in red, and the other half blue, and the same with the American team. (yes, that does happen owjjfvvoijerijwiejviwejwvijwerijvj!!!!!!!!)

    ---

Tempted to have a dabble today.

Felt awful yesterday, but slept ok. Poker is addictive when you have momentum in your favour. It's really hard to get motivated to play a hand when it isn't. So maybe it makes sense to keep rolling........

I have 3 hours until the 2pm BH, which is the cutoff point to decide. Will see!

    Gl all playing today.

    Inevitably, I dabbled!

Mixture of a session, some good, abit of bad, and a lot of ugly.

Got to the FT of an afternoon £5.75 BH again.

I wont post the HH, but I made a colossal error around the FT bubble, when I open 88 and get peeled in 2 spots, around 45xbb effective.

Flop is K94 rainbow, and it goes check/check/check. I've lost interest in the hand, 88 is dead on this board v 2 players.

    Turn, off suit 8.

    helloooooo.

    Bet in to me.

As we're so deep, and his range includes all 9x, Kx, 2 pairs, etc, I raise in position. Very confident with my hand.

He re-raises me very quickly, and to a confident size. He looks like he loves his hand! kak.

I call. We still have lots behind, we're the top 2 stacks in the tournament.

River is a blank, it's impossible to have a straight or a flush at this point. I have the 3rd nuts, if we eliminate pocket kings, which we pretty much can due to him just calling out of the blinds pre, then we lose only to 99.

He leads for around 1/4 of the pot.

In hindsight, this is a no-brainer. I have to raise. But my gut feeling made me snap call the bet before my brain had even had chance to assess the situation, in particular the size of his river bet, and what that might mean.

I was instinctively feeling, "well it's 99 50% of the time, and 44 the other 50% of the time"

Of course he shows K9 for top 2 pair, and I feel like a plonker.

Irony, 15 minutes later on the FT I shove AKs in the sb. I have 16.5xbb left at this point.

K9 guy snaps my shove in the big blind with Jack 5.

    Bounty thooooo!

    gg in 4th.

    -----

Had a good run in the main.

Was chip leader with 20 left.

    Then my luck/timing ran out.

    Half the stack gone.....

    An emphatic gg!

The shoves may look 'spewy' but I was getting so many folds so often pre flop, putting pressure on and making it impossible for people to play without big hands. And even then, we got equity!

Just couldn't quite run good for long enough. #Turbozzzzzzzz

    Long time reader......
Stalked some of your "play" in the main last night.  Couple of observations if I may be so bold?   Altho it's a "turbo"  I think for you style of play & your regular games it may not be quick enough for you?  You seem to get a bit bored and yeah K6 does look spewy!  ;-)  It certainly wasn't dull tho lolz
    Also,
Ryder cup - I've got quite a few quid on a draw.
The Office - Only watched half an episode once!  As for the US version, was gonna watch an episode until I heard Steve Carrel(sp) was in it.

    Observations always welcome PadLad.

Naturally, the K5s shove has been on my mind the last 24 hours.

Think I'm starting to agree with you.

    Bit of positive tilt maybe.

    Oh well, more random aggro......

    ----

    Poker/sharkscope depression this morning.

Around 9pm last night, I was chilling out watching the Spurs v Forest game, whilst doing an online shop.

I was also logged into pokerstars watching a couple of tables from the later stages of a big WCOOP event on the laptop, as well as being logged into fb, twitter and here.

    A table popped up.

I wasn't playing poker, I had no intention of playing poker, it was the last thing on my mind.

I expected it to be some 1,000 runner freeroll that I'd automatically been entered in, that happens occasionally.

But it was the £37 Punta Cana satellite.

    wtf?

I've not registered, qualified or even tried to qualify for that.

The only thing I can think of is I won it on a live show without knowing? Maybe the turbo Tuesday last longer.

Anyway there's no way I could be a rsed to play that at that point. I'd been rough most of the day and was just starting to feel better, was making food etc. No way I'm playing a sat seriously.

So, as I've done a few times in the past I just shoved every hand.

Actually lost J8 < AK and AQ in that hand for a 5x stack (avg required to win a seat)

I would've auto reg'd the last longer like I do every time I play on Tuesdays. I'm sure looking at the show thread many others do this too.

Normally the prize is a Thursday night seat, which I would make use of. I just missed that it had changed this week. dohhhhhhh.

Had I known I'd won the seat I would've un-registered. The chance of shoving every hand and somehow qualifying from the sat and taking the money is so remote that it doesn't outweight the loss on sharkscope! :(

    Points though I guess :)

A big fat - $60 on my graph is sufficient punishment for not reading Annas OP properly.

    So annoying.

Momentum crusher even though it didn't actually cost me owt.

Will just add the $60 to the initial target figure as I didn't actually spend anything.

Profit required at start of challenge = $2,077

    Profit so far = $595

    Profit required = $1,482

    Ugh, that hurt.

Lesson re-enforced. Always read the question (or opening post) carefully, at least twice. :'(

This just seems ridiculous to me. I could understand if it was a freeroll with peanuts for the winner perhaps. But this was a £37 seat with a good shot of winning a £170 seat (or take the cash). There were only 18 runners so it wasn't even going to take that long.

You say that like he hasn't won a seat to the £110 Roller before 'by accident' and done the exact same trick of open shoving every hand lol

I can understand why it sounds abit mental. It's hard to explain why I didn't want to play without sounding like a snob, or like im absolutely loaded. Neither of which is true.

If you're a winning player at poker, and you need money, £20, £100, £170, £500 or even more, you can make it pretty much as and when you want. Profit is directly related to the volume (time and effort) you put in. If I was desperate for the £170 I could add in a few extra sessions and make it with my own £.

I just really really couldn't be bothered. Yep, sounding really bad.

When I had 4,000 chips, shoved J8 and got called by AK and AQ, it was a relief when I lost.

Because had I hit my 30ish% equity in that 'coup' I'd have had 10,000 chips, which is 5x start stack in a 1 in 5 sat. I would've had no choice but to take it seriously. I'd win a seat from that spot more often than not, rather than 20% of the time which is the expected success rate at the start of the sat.

Lambo is right, I've open shoved off probably $400 worth of buyins, as well as un-registering a few hundred and declining free entries to some big ones too.

On this occasion I did feel abit bad, because a) it's a seat someone else could've had, and b) I knocked out 2 people by shoving with junk before I bust. But as I said previously it was an honest mistake, if I had read what the prize was I wouldn't have entered the free competition to win the seat.

    It wont happen again.

    -------------

Anyway, up at 7am no problem today. Only 4 hours sleep, which is worrying with such a long/big session ahead, but hopefully the adrenaline of the golf can help me out!

    Bet on.

    Rose/Stenson WIN

    Bjorn/Kaymer LOSE

    Poulter/ Gallagher HALF

    Rory/Sergio WIN

Worried about the hype surrounding Poulter. I'm not a huge golf fan but I do follow enough to know he's not had the best season.

Adrenaline and sense of occasion can only do so much to improve performance, at the end of the day you've got to hit 70ish good shots, something he hasn't done very well all year!

    Meh, exploiting my golf newbness.

70 was looking a modest estimate after the first 2 holes, I could've potted that 1 on the 1st hole with my nose.

How about the Kaymer/Bjorn to lose tip. 3 up after 4. :/

    Classic Doh!

Have to give credit to the players for getting dressed properly. It's not quite red v blue, but light blue v dark blue will do :)

    Thanks Pat.

Looking ahead to the golf today, it's kind of disappointing that Europe are so far ahead.

Of course anything can happen, and it's great that Europe look like winning but from an entertainment point of view I'd rather it be alot closer at this stage.

If it was the Ashes, I woudn't complain at England being 4-0 up heading into the 5th test.

Maybe that sums up how I feel about golf, it's not really a big deal for me.

The 1 pre-competition bet I had was after the first session pairings were announced, taking Patrick Reed to top score for the Americans @ 20/1. If he wins today he can't be beaten, so at least the European lead means I can fully get behind him today :)

Picked out a small singles acca...

    Fowler to beat Mcilroy
    Watson to beat Kaymer
    Simpson to beat Poulter
    Garcia to beat Furyk

    31/1

I got some ribbing from Jacco for my lack of golfing knowledge earlier, but I would just like to point out that approximately 138 of Ian Poulters 140 shots so far have been rubbish.

Saw this great tweet yesterday which summed up his morning game.

"My mother-in-law loves to come along, dry up the last spoon and then claim she has played a huge part in clearing the kitchen #ianpoulter"

Anyway gl to everyone at the tables, Europe in the golf, and England in the World cup of pool today! :)

I have a small "banzai" on that, Finland (outright) @ 20/1 EW.

One more win for an EW return, & a shot at a 20/1 winner, go Finalnd!

Thin chance, obv, but was great value @ 20/1.

    Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooops :/

Good luck with the pool TK.

That's abit like saying gl when my poker table loads. I don't mean it, as 'you' play England in the sem-eye final!

Good sweat though, and more European dominance in that event bodes well for the Ryder Cup of Pool in a few months time.

Time for Earl the Girl Strikland to hang up his cue me thinks.

Closing down early tonight, really tired, which is pretty standard but it's abit worse than usual tonight.

Almost a perfect day, Europe won the Ryder Cup, Reed landed USA top points scorer @ 20/1, England won a very tense final in the pool, and I came 2nd in a BH !

    ....almost, almost almostttttttttttt !

Don't have the figures/graph, as evilpingu who is my "skoper" is @ Wembley for the fake rugby, but I've lost most of the mtt profit playing HU. I've played horribly today. 1 of those days where the tiredness is just too much to overcome.

Think the brilliant European captain Paul,Mcginley has a huge comma fettish. He uses more c,o,m,m,a,s in a speech than I drink pints in a year.

Still, congrats to him and his team.

And fu Phil Mickleson, Bruce Harman, and anyone else who blames Tom Watson for the result.

    Who's hitting the balls?

    Back Tuesday.
