Great effort Gary!   Well impressed with your endeavours!  Moving in the right direction m8! What are your plans re: moving up to the next level/stake?  Will you stick to BH's?  They seem to be your forte! pad

Cheers Pad. I'm going to rigidly stick to my 40 buy-ins rule throughout to ensure that the inevitable downswings can't damage my balance too badly. Though this doesn't prevent me trying too satellite into bigger events like I did today. Bounty Hunters are my speciality so I will stick with them for the main part, the £2.30 tournaments are perfect at the moment, they're fairly soft and one runs every 30 minutes or so all day. I'll move up to the £5.75 level when my bankroll rules allow, but there's quite a way to go yet, a balance of £230+ is required. Likewise I won't buy direct into £11 tourneys until I'm at £440+.

    Day 20 – January 28th 2012

    Closing balance £131.28

My afternoon tournaments didn’t go too well with coolers causing my demise in most cases. For example my rivered nut-flush ran into a rivered full house, then my QQ ran into KK preflop with 18BB effective stacks, neither of us were ever folding preflop there. At least results in HU matches were a bit better.

I ran deep in the Soccer 6 tournament. This event might only be a freeroll, but the £250 prize pool is very attractive when your roll is small, the winner gets a tasty £62.50. The wheels came off for me when my AJ couldn’t hold against K9 aipf. That busted me in 22nd of the 413 entrants for a small prize, had I held I’d have had a great shot at a top 10 finish and a decent cash. My last tournament of the day was a £500 gtd for £2.30 Bounty Hunter. Again I went deep only to fall just short of the good money. I lost a standard flip A9<77 aipf to finish 17th of 285 when a top 10 finish would have given me a decent pay out. At least my prize in that one was just about enough to put me slightly up on the day.

Ran awfully in my few games today. I won’t bore you with specific hands, but I know full well it’s the nature of MTTs, all you can do is get it in good and the deck will decide the rest.  My balance has plateaued at the moment in the £120-£130 range after a period of rapid growth. I’ll keep plugging away, as long as I continue to play my A-game I know the results will come with time.

    Just stick with it
You know your game is good enough
    I dropped to £88
But played one of those bounty hunters that you keep on about
I very rarely play these and always run bad in them
But this time i took a few bounties and came 3rd
    So back up to £112
Just need to stop trying to sat into the Rollers and primo
    Backroll management is the key
    Good luck at the Tables

I couldn't agree more Dave, I'm being very strict on myself and resisting all temptation to jump into bigger games until I have the correct balance in my account. Thanks for your support, best of luck to you too.

    Day 22 – January 30th 2012

    Closing balance £131.78

Was pleased to bounce back from yesterday’s poor results and finish the day on my highest balance so far. Hu SnGs went particularly well with 8 wins from 9 matches. An unexpected side-effect of this challenge is the silver star I have on Sharkscope at the moment for being on the world leader board for $2 and under HU STTs in 2012. The day could have been even better if weren’t for a sudden spell of run bad on the final table bubble of a £2.30 Bounty Hunter. AQ<A9 and KK<A5 both aipf in the space of 3 hands against the same player crippled my stack. If either had held I’d have gone to the final table as chip leader.

Thank-you! I'll definitely play in the 9-45am and 10-45am £150 gtd £3.30 Bounty Hunters whenever I can get home from work in time. I've done well in those in the past and the rake is good value; only 2/3rds of that charged on the £2.30 and £5.75 games. Not many other £3.30 tournaments run during the hours that I play. I'll look out for good £3 HU matches and STTs as they arise.

I'll be including it (see OP), 691 points earned so far in January, C4P value £5.52.

    Day 23 – January 31st 2012

    Closing balance £127.63

My four Bounty Hunter tournaments went awfully today. The only deepish run ended in a crash n’ burn close to the bubble, I got it in with AJ vs. a disbelieving villain holding A9 on J92r flop. He hit his 2-outer on the river to bust me. In better news the HU matches went well again with 5 wins out of 6 to keep the days loss fairly small.

As January ends I have 708 Poker Points, that should earn me a C4P bonus of £5.66 to be paid in 5 working days. Under the old C4P system the bonus would have been £5.00. It might be a bit trickier to hit the 500+ points needed for a bonus in February. It’s a short month and there will be several days on which I’m unable to play. I’ll make sure I pack in lots of hyper HU matches when possible, they’re a quick way to earn points and I’m finding them quite profitable at the £1.05 buy-in.

I quite like having that silver star on Sharkscope. To keep it permanently I need to be on the leader board at the end of the year. That won’t be easy, but it does give me extra incentive to cram in lots of £1.05 HU games over the next 11 months.  I’ll see how it goes.  When my balance gets higher those games may lose their attraction.

    Day 24 – February 1st 2012

    Closing balance £123.03

Today was pretty much an action replay of yesterday. I’m doing well in HU SnGs but still getting no joy in Bounty Hunter tournaments. My last bust-out hand of the day pretty much summed up how I’ve been running in the MTTS. With 19 of the 63 runners left I 3-bet jammed my AJ in a blind vs. blind pot over an aggro player in the SB with 22BB behind. He called my 19BB shove with A7, the flop came down J77 and I was out. I’m delighted to get the call when i have 72% equity, but I can’t control the deck. While beats like that are frustrating I know that as long as I continue to get my chips in good the results will come with time. My balance has plateaued in the £120- £130 range for a week now.  Poker points earned today 23.

    Closing balance £114.43

Ran terribly today, couldn’t win flips and was unable to hold when all-in and ahead. Downswings are inevitable in poker and I’m expecting many on my path to £1051. Today was the worst of the 25 so far. All I can do is take it on the chin and be patient while I wait for the deck to turn. Tilt avoidance is important. February poker points so far 44.
