Night relaxing Sunday evening playing poker, some MTT/DYM/CASH + one of those timed thingies
and hey presto I won some monies, mostly at NL10 but all is running good here - thanks Long may it continue Had about 9 tables open at once, too much! 6 cash tables felt ok
In Response to Re: Rancid rolls on..........again! BR £280: Rancid y did u decide to withdraw 3/4 of your bankroll from your previous diary/thread/challenge thing? Posted by DOHHHHHHH
Cheers for the question, I have withdrawn it if you like mentally but it’s still very much part of my poker BR but not for this little hurdle I need to get over.
A good portion of that roll was won playing MTT and while I was doing ok in cash up to NL10 at the point of finishing the last diary it didn’t feel right to jump into NL20 and grind on. Even sitting on NL20 tables, things didn’t feel right.
Don’t think my head was on the level and while I thought this level was good to really start making moves, it looks like you don’t have to.
Just a case of giving players at NL20 too much credit maybe.
So just need to look at these levels and ensure I know 100% how they play before I really get going-hopefully)
I have sat on some cash tables on all levels up to NL50 and I still think I need to beat NL10 before I move on. Still think I have a couple of things to iron out before I move up properly. Once I move out of NL10, there’s no way I am going back to micros.
Would prefer to know if I am playing well and beating the level rather than just running hot and steamrolling a level. Anyone can play Aces and sets right )
emmm right ok DTD did't go according to plan Played some DYM and lost a bit of monies, bit of a knockback was looking to dip over £300 last night Thought DYM wouldn't be a problem, at worse I normally break even, how wrong I was -so annoying when it goes bad NL10 was ok, apart from the obvious KK v set ! + missing a FD, much prefer hitting them ) Starting to feel very settled in NL10, hopefully going to see some postive movement of BR soon May just play mini open, DYM or cash this evening - see how that goes
Such a tilting session Hopefully sessions like this need to end, may just post other losing hands and you all can rip me apart - may be for my own good
Seriously what's so bad with the three hands posted below
My donation just to one player & I know oppo is REG who I think plays higher! Maybe I should stop playing past midnight!
In the cold light of day, last nights session ended very badly.
I played the open and shoved AQ 12bigs to be called by J10 –sigh opo hit 2 pr obviously!
Then played some DYM, ran pretty much break even, I ran into KK a few times and lost the will to live even though a couple of them spots I should have easily ( JJ/10) folded even though one was bvb, but my BR was at about £240ish
Then I loaded up 3x NL10 and promised I wouldn’t do anything rash.
Well I sigh spew a couple of times in the hands above and shove on what I thought was a raise with a FD, really stooopid given I have never seen oppo raise with FD in this spot before ever, ever, ever )
Even the turn and river spews were so easily foldable on a better day.
The other loosing hand was JJ V AK, standard K on turn for oppo AIPR
Anyways that how easy it is too blow £40ish very quickly, probably within an hour.
Lesson learned, hopefully
Lets see what misery I can create this evening, maybe just a stable DYM session is in order.
Ps. I need to table select better – but when you just want to play and all tables are full – dilemma :S
hi rancid, think table selection is important, probably now even more so 4 u playing nl10. i found that out myself a while ago. don,t think u did much wrong did you, just on-line poker init. easy come-easy go. next session just need to run better. keep going mate, keep looking at the big picture. :-) devon
AKs - horror turn card got to be c/f sadly, shove only called by better as you know.
K10s - 4-handed probz ok pre (prefer it on the button) but fold requires discipline or just bieing a massive nit like me lol, I'd bet slightly more on turn around £2 to make river shove easier, river nasty cooler obvz.
AKs - defo fold to flop raise, if you had FD it'd be ok, without it it's just tilty spew imo.
Hand 1 - check fold turn, it hurts because we've put 40% of our stack in, I guess you thought he would shove flop on a f/d maybe? QQhx/JJhx/AQxh would be on my mind.
Hand 2 - 3 bet or fold pre, probably fold unless your happy to get it in vs the 2 shorties, as played just ul in the end.
Hand 3 - just fold... not sure on the timing of this hand compared to hand 1 but if this happen after hand 1 you can probably guess that villian flats f/ds ip even though hand 1 was a 3bet pot pre.
Edit - just seen your post saying villian never raises a f/d, so yeah h3 becomes an insta fold, and h1 a sigh c/f.
Should of bet more on flop, very angry semi bluff shove, just can’t fold here – maybe I need to learn to fold – thought oppo might fold any other heart or just bink the house
Hand 2
Check river, may even c/c – my bet for value was aimed at other oppo but when ayr shoved I am like o dam – should of really bet smaller and b/f
Hand 3
Emmmmm I wanted to be a hero, so pfffffffffffffffft
And yes like I said I had no reads so really this move was based on gut instinct and well I could have had a set )
Given I have no reads here it pretty dam silly
And yes Goldie, you had KK twice )
Well at least I learned that you always have KK in the bb - lolz

Hi Devon,
Yeah table selection can make a massive difference to your session.
Now I know this, but it doesn’t stop me from loading up the first tables I can join and play.
But this is just bad, but with all the NL10 tables being full, what do we do just wait around for a seat to become free on the table we like.
Do we start a new table?
I kinda go against my own preaching’s and just jump on any table, even though it’s not the best thing to do.
What do other players do to improve table selection ?
When I used to play cash I'd try and join a table with as few REG's as possible basically guys names you don't recognise. After an orbit or two it should then be clear if it's worth staying on or not.
Also join waiting lists on tables you know have bad players on as a kind of back up plan if table you're on is too nitty.
Most of all never just stay on a table becuase you have a big stack, if bad players that you won money off have now gone that also means you have to go too or you'll just be passing chips with REG's. Of course if you can beat the REG's too then stay lol.

Good advice as always Dudeskin, it's a very straight forward strategy that I should follow. But being a recrational player you just want to play) Need to learn to be as discplined as you. Anyway, are you returning to cash anytime soon and why the break from cash if you don't mind me asking.
