In Response to Re: Rancid rolls on..........again! BR £106 : That game was crazy ) Mad how everytime I shoved on bb, bb always had a hand - and I was binking my 40% or w/e Think I used up all my nine lifes in that one game lolz but so did other ss - Just play till I go broke bit, yeah sounds great - but in all honesty I can't go broke here - how can I not beat NL4, think we are just talking about a slow grim grind - so doesn't sound great or load up 6x NL10 and boooooooooooom weekend easy money goes against any BRM but does sound tempting - boooooooooom or bust Posted by rancid
Yeah you won't go broke playing NL4 as you're rolled for that level, however £5.50's you are, IMO, under-rolled by quite a bit.
EDIT : Also sorry for the rubs but Dazler's already overtaken you lol
ive been reading with interest and your situation is similar to the one i encountered a couple of weeks back. i had experimented with nl10 as id been doin well over last few months at nl4 as you know. i started reasonably enough and was 6 buyins up in first couple of days but over the course of the next 3 days that turned into 10 buyins down, a swing of 16 in 3 days. it left me with around the same balance you are showing just now (i dont have back up funds to redeposit) and was facing a dilema. i had been playing awful so i was facing 2 choices, 1, play til the lot has gone or 2. withdraw all remaining funds n take a break to get my head together again and reload when i felt good again i took option 2 and salvaged something, i knew if i ad left money in my account i would have went back day after day till it was gone. i need to start over again at nl4 but thats my medicine i suppose and its gonna to be done im afraid, i need to rebuild. guess what im trying to say is it may be best to take a complete break from the game wether it be for the weekend, a week , 2 weeks whatever it takes to clear the mind and come back refreshed and ready to battle again. this is the route i usually take and it works for me. maybe its the best prescription for yourself before bad choices cause more damage than has been done already. Cheers for the input and I feel your pain as you feel mine )
I would love to just say "I run bad", but I prefer to tear myself apart and if I am doing something wrong, then fix it. It may be something very small but has an impact if this happens in important spots/hands again and again.
So while a break may work for you and others, it's never worked for me. The only time I break is if I am not enjoying my poker, or it's affecting me emotionally or mentally to the point where it's troubling me away from poker - if that makes sense )
Plus I want to get better at poker.
good luck TIN
you seen that bigdave lately, could do with some ez money )

i understand what your saying and a break isnt for everyone i suppose. i find it easier to identify whereim going wrong whn im away rom the tables and also the break lets me recharge my brain so when i do return its with a more positive attitude.
ive only lurkd around the forum the last few weeks so i havent been browsing the lobby but i do hope dave is around soon as i coulddo with running into him on one of his bad as lol
good luck with things in the short term, hope you turn it around whatever route you go down (just not at my expense if its nl4 lol)
I don't understand why you decided to change what you were doing in the first place imo.
You had £900ish? and your last few weeks progression before you hit that target had been good?
I accept that you might of wanted to withdraw some to treat yourself/perhaps stop yourself taking random shots at higher levels but maybe you should of stuck to what was working.
As it is now, I wouldn't recommend topping your roll up while you are losing, first as annoying as it may be you have to drop down the levels and start winning again. When you get into that winning mindset again and if you want too, then you can top your roll up and move to where you want to be.

Sound advice, cheers
But I have to agree sounds strange what I have done with going backwards with my BR Because I have basically gone back 2-3 months :S
Going to carry on till end of month and get back to winning ways, see how I feel then, a week is a long time )
Played some £3 DYM and lost more than I won Mini open was going ok, until my Q's got bashed up and finally ran 7's into 9's before the bubble Played some NL5 and 1xNL10, my Aces for beaten by flopped set of K's on the nl10 table for a 3 way big pot, which is normal for me at the moment.
But it's nice the weather has turned and been over the park most of the day with my sons has been really enjoyable and now I need some shut eye ) So much better now it's not freeeeeeezing outside.
Probably play more of the same this evening as the other half is going out )
After the 3x raise you're essentially calling off with the sevens so therefore are racing at best, possible 22-66 of course but that makes up a very small portion of range.
You have 12bbs here so aren't in any massive danger just yet so I think I find a fold although if you wanna gamble getting it in is ok.
nothing wrong with the shove there its anoying and when i shove with mid pks like that someone always has pk Qs or alike lol. I dont play them so often now and stick with just pk 10s and above to shove with. If under i just fold um now. Gl hope your upswing starts, i should take more walks in the park good to clear my mind. GL Rancid
I think the shove is good unopened. I think I could find a fold with the raise and no read. You do have to get it in sometime soon though with 12BB so if your feeling your not picking up many hands and running dry I suppose it's a good time to shove even with a raise.
Going back to these DYM games When I played £3 and got to 200 games I hit a downswing and ended up break even Now the same has happened with £5, got above 200 and hit downswing emmmm a trip to Area51 MAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Suppose someone should tell me to fold in this spot :S
A3 - Just nasty cooler, I admit sometimes when running bad you fear losing (loads of great info in Jared Tendler's book) so end up making bad plays to just try not to lose so much but this is a 100% shove and not just with A3 but ATC
In these spots you just have to ingect logic (MGOP again), to remind yourself this is the right play and try not to beat yourself up about it.

Morning, so true - think I am still playing the same when on upswing so.. pfffffffffffffffffffft I been reading through my old diary and my DYM stats are similar, hit 200 games at £3 & £5 and I lose all the profit, the question I ask myself is - am I just a break even player who sometimes run bad and good.
There was a commnet from Splashies who said "Not uncommon to run at a lose over 200 games"
This is all very intresting because when playing £5 level I had the same ROI as Shanxta over the same time period, I am just using Shanxta as a benchmark.
But I even remember Shanxta going through a bad period where he had to drop down to £3 level. So if that' the case then it can't be that bad.
Still it does make you question your game
Just played this £3 game and when running bad oppo turn's over 2 pr here Maybe it's turning
Yeah on the break even thing I have to admit I was wrong on the whole 300 games break even being bad as currently at £5.50 I've only just broke into profit (a meagre £9 lol) and that's over 400 games. Strangely though at £3.30 i'm up around £160 over 600 games (these stats are both from recent play, post reading JC's guide). Both levels I've been playing the same game so it really is just variance.
A lot of it I've found is just trying to hold on (breaking even) so when you do get that crazy winning streak you make progress. Sadly this doesn't always go to plan so at times you have bad runs and no sign of a good streak which can disheartening.
Ok, won two £3 games, hopefully Arsenal win today and I will consider that a good omen. Obviously if we lose then I am royaly fcuked, in more ways than one. Very disheartening times for us Arsenal fans with the enemy doing do well, how the **** have Arsenaol become an average side - infact a feeder club to Manchester city (Nasri) The situation at Arsenal sickens me becaue frankly we are siht! We have to wonder if Arsenal want to compete on the same levels as other teams in the league and Europe. Money in the bank is great if your an accountant, as a fan I want to be debt and have world class players at the club and be winning trophies.
Anyway but to the poker lark Going to be playing £3 DYM and NL4 till end of month and update status here from today Wish me well ) I do plan to crush £3 Level, I every confidence in myself.
morning guys, don,t u think though that once u move up to the £5.50dym,s that the standard is that little bit better, certainly than at £3.30 and definately £2.25 so u r going to be racing more often, which therefore decreases your chances of winning? just a thought :-) devon
