not much to say about today, it was mostly uneventful. i was never behind but at the same time i was never much in front. today was the definition of a grind. still showing a reasonable profit for today so i will take it.
i managed to pass the 500 c4p mark inside 3 days which im quite pleased at. at least theres an amount on display on the widget.
Must keep missing you on there (been goin on about 12-1ish for 3 hours )- i know you said it dies down about 1.30 but ive found it ok with a good few games goin till well after 3 and done ok -
Even thought about doin my own diary after reading yours although ive done it before and given up , but have had good start to month which makes it easier _ I would have to include dym,s satelies and everything seperate although i,ve mainly got back to cash thx to this thread in a way as NL4 is agr8rt game but gotta say it takes some discipline to do the hours your doin on 6 tables as well (looking forward to the rezising of tables) - can finally have more than 4
EDIT - just gone 5am and still 3tables running at NL4 making it the most popular/played game

ive not had a really late night this weekend, i actually stopped at midnight there. probably why we havent bumped into each other.
weekends will always be busier than weekdays when it comes to games running into the early hours of the morning. i just found a lot of tables break up and you end up playing short handed or having to move about a lot.
i know things have been discussed about the amount of diaries that have started up but dont let that stop you if you want to start writing one again. it would give another dimension to what im doing.
do you play in standard view? im always in mini view but 6 is the most i can do on my tiny monitor. i think i could handle more but the equipment cant
Fascinating read, I will follow your progress with interest. The thread title is amusing, as I know you crush this level, but with you on so many tables it may become unbeatable. Also there seem to be a lot of higher level players dropping down from time to time to prove that it is beatable. One thing I'd be interested in is your BB/100 rate, if you keep those stats. would love to see that included, but understand if you would rather keep that to yourself ! Anyway good luck with the job search & keep running good.

thanks for reading.
im only on 6 tables. when im trying to start a session mid evening every spare seat that pops up seems to contain yourself at the table, i sure your on more tables than me when you play:)
i have also noted a few players dropping down. i said in previous post about my runner up spot in the open and the player who beat me. well i know at the time he was playing a lot higher as i'd see him on the tv tables quite frequently.
tbh i dont keep detailed stats on number of hands i play or have a detailed bb/100 hands figure. im a little lazy when it comes to that side of things. i kind of estimate the number i play by how many points i earn. if i was to run some rough numbers off the top of my head it would be around the 15bb/100 mark but that is a very rough number. i really should start logging these stats myself for a more accurate figure
Hi TINTIN, havent played you for some time but i was wondering how long you are going to stick at NL4 as you are obviously a winning player at that level? If you are out of work at the moment and use poker as a means of earning a bit why not play higher? NL8 is easily beatable and i havent seen much difference on some NL10 tables, with your game i would have thought you would be fine and the extra poker points would be a nice boost at the end of the month. Just wondered why you have stuck at NL4 all this time?

ive no idea how long i will continue at nl4 tbh. ive tried stepping up a few times this year but its hasnt went great so ive always returned back to where im comfortable. ive not played a lot of nl8 as there does seem to be much volume of tables that run so ive bypassed it in the past and went to nl10.
at nl4 i dont feel fully comfortable til i have 40 buyins so if i was to adopt this to nl10 i'd be looking at having £400 in my account. im not 100% comfortable having that much in an account dedicated to poker atm due to being out of work. when circumstances change i would defo be trying the move up again.
yes the increased points would be good and if i was putting in the same volume at a higher level i'd be making priority each month but from the sample ive played so far im losing there, not a huge sample but enough to get an idea. i dont want to rely on breaking even in the hope to get a decent payout from c4p. i'd much rather it be a bonus on top of winnings.
til the time i step up and start to become even a little successful at the higher level im always gonna be lurking around nl4
i said i'd write the good with the bad well heres the bad.
i settled down for the evening grind well the grind didnt last long about 40 mins. a lot of damage done in that time. i should have maybe stood earlier and saved myself a little but when i started calling a few iffy raises from the blinds i knew it was time. 40 mins 5 buyins down:(
1 table in particular done the damage where i lost 3 buyins to the same person inside 5 mins. wont bore you all with too many details but it was AK v67off in pre, AK v KQ allin pre and then flopping a set of 8's on a J84 2 hearts flop getting all in v Jd7h going runner runner flush.
think it was the fact that this happened so close together tipped me towards tilt. i tried to hang around but i started bleeding chips in silly spots. i didnt want to stand but it was best that i did before anymore spewed away.
time to compose a bit and return in a better frame of mind

Know exactly how you feel.
I don,t know if you play any other games but i find its worth playing the odd satelite and DYM on here as well which mixes it up and have also started playing $5 or $10 dollar STT,s on another site (6 players and they they pay 1st 3 ) where i,ve got a nice little graph goin over about 100 games ( but i can use my HUD on there and pre-select games). I think my main site will always be Sky tho Then every so often try again at moving up from NL4 to NL8 or 10 but gradually - a bit like the Don said and as long as your rolled for it which you should be from your other winnings and NL4 until eventually you learn to bt it
As for the diary i,m not bothering as i don,t like showing to many hands and stuff on the forum as it does advertise the wat you play a bit although it does have its benefits as well
Don,t play more thn 4 table sat present due to overlay but hoping with th resizing coming i will try 6 at NL4 and see how it goes
the day hadnt been going in any direction till 6pm and that fateful short session i described earlier. i returned but i started off a bit silly again losing a little and was down £26 from where i started the day. wasnt til late on before i started winning hands again. hitting quads several times helped and 1 pot was worthh just over £15. im actually pleased i can report a small loss on the day considering where i was at one point.
Best of luck You seem to be off to a pretty decent start. Long may it continue. Hope to see you at the higher leveles in the future ! (sure you could crush nl10) and c4p would be massive with the hours you put it.

Quads seemed to have been common yest. I hit em 3 times getting paid twice. Dont think i had any pots as big as £15 tho.

Alot of sense in there mate. I flopped big time at NL8 the first couple of attempts but soon started grinding the profit. There seem to be a few more tables running since the C4P thing changed and i also find that putting myself on a waiting list doesnt take long. Also i found that starting my own tables was quite good as other regs wouldnt join that often so it ended up being full of fish.
As for BR management, i worked on 20xBI at the start but soon decided i needed more so didnt start at NL8 until i had £220. It was a bit more comfy that way. I have just moved up to NL10 with a roll of nearly £600 which allows me to multitable quite easy without having too much in play at one time. So far NL10 seems a bit harder than NL8 but its all about table selection and i am still learning who the regs are. I had a stint on a mastercash table the other day and every hand was a 3-bet pot with moves all over the place. Never saw a flop so i soon stood up and found somewhere easier.
Seriously though, NL8 is beatable with a few tweaks to a typical NL4 grinders game. I found its more enjoyable as you can bluff against the right people and its been quite a good stepping stone for my game becoming a little more unpredictable.

This is why i believe clashing with regs of similar standards at NL4 is a good thing when your gearing to move up. Hands such as the one i posted that me and tintin had i believe will make both me and tintin a better player for playing against better opponents.

Its been hard to avoid the regs & higher level players this weekend, I've had yourself Don and several other forum regs on my tables this weekend including a session with Dohhhhhhh today. I'm only up 1 BI this month so far, having lost loads running AA into 29os etc etc - at least you're not likely to see the regs turning over hands like that!

I think im about 4.5BIs up atm. Had a bad day today lost about 2BIs so overall June has had a decent start for me. Although i play much much less than yourself and Tintin. I can get exact monthly figures when im on the pc, atm im on Mels laptop.
Ive had some interesting hands with youself latley tho, some of them am looking back at thinking what am i doing there.
I was actually discussing with Dohhhh during a hand discussion session, When we both looked at our big winning hands and our big losing hands i said "I find marginals are more profitable at NL4 and the big hands teand to be the ones making up my losing sections. I cant count how many times ive lost with sets latley." Dohhh laughed said i wasnt making sense. This was when still looking at winning hands. We then looked at losing hands, funnily enough every hand he lost a decent size pot with was actually a bigger hand than the one where the winning hands where. The first 2 we looked at of his was AA & QQ.
I think this level is just soo crazy, but would we really want it any other way?
a bit of an up and down day where i'd get a couple of buyins up then a couple behind, i think this happened 3 times at least today. can only recall 2 hands where i lost a full stack the rest were against shorties playing between £1 n £2, lost count where i ran a big hand into bigger between them. losing these soon mount up.
progress has been slow going even tho ive played a huge amount in short space of time but this seems to happen to me every bank holiday weekend but i'd rather be showing positive figures than negative. i havent really had a good solid day yet but hopefully that comes soon.
did 2.5 hours 6 tabling today and finished +£31..... It seems abit tighter but that's not really a bad thing. bet/fold bet/fold bet/fold...... So much value, and if I were to re-write the nl4 blog thing I'd change quite alot (although maybe not for newbies) There are alot of spots you can bluff, even multiple streets. Not played any proper cash for 6 months, enjoyed the 'new' challenge! Posted by DOHHHHHHH
i had noticed you were playing before you sat at my table. it was suprising to see u there. glad you enjoyed your experience:)
