unlucky tintin villain could of folded pre but its what we do that matters not opponenent u played it fine just a cooler when it comes to pairs not many fold any pairs pre or any hand for that case lol so cant put a range of hands on most players at 4nl wouldnt suprise me what people turn up with Posted by IDONKCALLU
the result was a shrug of the shoulders job. its was pretty standard. i thought if i was beat it was only to AJ. a set of 2's are my nemisis
To be honest TinTin I find players hitting a set is the hardest thing to putting an opponent on. I agree with your read, that their raise suggested some sort of ace or maybe KQ. ( most players tend to flat call with small pockets like 22 or 44). At the end of the day I don't think you are ever going to get off that hand. Just one of those where you will do all your stack. sometimes are definatley easier to spot than others. if the villian only has around a 3/4 pot bet left on the turn so i do believe it goes in no matter what
In Response to Re: Beating the Unbeatable - A Quest : You where BB i think i was BTN. I flopped the world tho, had you on a range of small PPs and suited cons (i think this is fair v my BTN range and how ull percieve how im playing) had to check two streets in hope you caught up, knowing that youd probably need to hit perfect perfect to beat me. Erm, quick question, How important do you think reads are at NL4? Posted by The_Don90
im sure i had 22 and the flop was like AQQ. after i flatted the raise i was done coz i thought it was a mistake tryng to set mine there as im sure the pot went to the flop with just us two.
reads are more important aginst the regs u find at this level but most notes i have are still pretty basic. its things like if he min raises its the nuts. if hes bet the river hes good or if they bet at all there good.
against others i may just mentally note how theyve been playing lately just to give me an idea of what they are like
yeah, i wasnt to sure about my click back on the turn, but a)it made it easier to get it in on river and b) pretty hard for you to have me on such a hand.

Yeah thats the hand, fwiw i had a hand id have paid ur set that time. Although i flopped my own set (i had aces) put you on that kind of hand or suited cons, really wish it was 33 with that river.
Really looking forward to this diary,i know your regarded as one of best nl4 players. good luck and thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with us. lenny Posted by lennyh
thank you. i hope i can make it worthwhile reading
gl in your diary tin tin you ease through 4nl no probs just a little question whats yer plans you thinking moving up level etc. sorry if you already stated this in the thread if u have lol Posted by liamboi11
cheers mate.
i have no plans at the minute about moving up. i enjoy it here if im honest lol.
i did write a short bit about why in my opening post.
i have attempted stepping up several times in the past but all have lead to negative results. i do hope to play higher one day

Hi TINTIN, i am of a similar mindset. I can beat NL4 but every time i move up i get crushed. Do you think it is just psychological? I have to admit that i enjoy NL4 but i think that is because i am always comfortably rolled for the level, then i go and donk off in mtts. Must have a serious go at grinding through the levels at some point.
GL on the tables ( tho i know you dont really need it).

yeah, i had you on a set and was trying to be a little trappy, dont think many players dont go broke in that hand

phew, i did think about trying to nick it but thought better of it, wouldnt have made any sense

some part maybe physcological but i know the most part is down to me adapting.
when i step up i do well on my first day, 3 times ive stepped up to nl10 and 3 times ive won 6+ buyins on that day, its the nxt 3 days that really do me in. the money just drains and no matter what i try i cant stem it. i have run into some stinking situations that ive been on the wrong end of but know this isnt a big reason why i dont do well.
i just need to piece the jigsaw together and im sure i can more than hold my own when the time comes to take the step again.
can you let my kings hold v your 7s nxt time please:)
In Response to Re: Beating the Unbeatable - A Quest : wow something really doesnt add up there. was you constantly at the same tables or were you moving arund a lot? 6 points over 3 tables equates to an hours play assuming you stick to the same table for that lenght of time. Posted by TINTIN
i did move around a bit as players dropped out . I also sit out a few times if i,m making a brew or going to toilet etc
This is the only thing i can think off that must affect it. Does it have to be x amount of hands played consecutevely to get the pts ? And also you used to have at least 4 players on the table to gain pts although i thought that had changed now
this is gonna sound starnge i can beat 10 nl depends what u mean beat well i played on there loads of times on 2 tables and within a week i start with 60 quid and turn it into 200 but soon as i play 4 nl never seem to do any good my ego does get better of me when i win a fair bit and take shot on higher stakes and lose all my roll Posted by IDONKCALLU
I,m the opposite. I seem to be able to beat NL4 but evertime i try and move up to NL10 i seem to lose and always end up back at NL4 when my BR takes a hit

yeah its just hands played at the specific table you are on so you cant play like 15 on 1 table then move and play another 5 to get the point, when you move your point total reverts back to zero.
the 2nd bit you maybe confusing that with league points, to earn cash for points you have to be involved in raked hands wether its heads up 6max or 10max. league points are awarded for hands won but hands won in heads up dont count towards the league,
bad mini session so a little break required. one of those where nothing got going. had to stop for a break before all the good work i done this afternoon got totally wiped out. managed to wipe out just shy of 4 buyins. running ak into aces twice n kings once done me no favours, luckily only once was for a full stack, the rest went in drips and drabs.
but not to worry, i tend to look at results at the end of the day and they can still look reasonable.
on another topic i noticed the bank holiday weekend happy hours will be offering 60% boost instead of 50% and are running their usual extra 2 hours. mite need to set my alarm:)
just read this after a self imposed break good luck with this m8 doubt you'll need much of it though, cetainly not when you've been on the same table as me. maybe i was the fish!!? don't know how you play for so long at nl4. think i've managed 4 or 5 hours a few times when i put my mind to it but only 3/4 tables. i know where i've been going wrong in trying to build my roll up quicker to have another go at nl8. LOL! no way i could do it for any length of time like you - hats of to you
for some reason i've also found moving up different. i won't say difficult because looking back it wasn''t. i just made mistakes i don't do at nl4. strange! why i don't know.it'll need to change if i'm to reach all the new year goals i told Rich about. gulp! that Orford and his challenges!
hopefully your thread will show people nl4 is beatable. ups and downs are all part of it and sometimes in one direction for a while you've just got to put the time in learning as you go
