The SPT coming to Ireland is great news. I've always wanted to try and sat into one but couldn't with them all being in the UK. I'm not from Dublin but it's a great spot for a weekend out.

Well as I said i'm not from Dublin but I've a good few mates living there so I can ask them about pubs and hotels closer to the time if thats any help. I know temple bar is the main tourist drinking spot. Lots of Irish themed pubs with all the usual traditional music and craic. I've been there a few times and enjoyed it. On the downside though, templebar is the most expensive part of dublin to go out and apparently it has become a bit crazy on the weekends with stag and hen parties from all over Ireland and the UK going there

Sporting Emporium is just off Grafton St, so its really central and easy to get to. No shortage of accommodation in the area.

A really plush casino (i've played there many times)....in the top place in town  and a great choice....no need to book a 3*** star hotel as there are plenty of quality 2** B&B's and guest houses....hope the favourable exchange rate doesn't change much!

Hopefully if this is during the summer (after my May exams).....any golfers or cricketers could have a long weekend holiday as no weight restrictions on ferry routes from pembroke or fishguard to Rosslare, County Wexford. 1 hour by bus to Dublin.

Wexford is the sunny south east of Ireland. (I moved here in 2006)

Anyone interested or need info nearer the announced date...just give me a shout.

Looking forward to playing my first sky poker tour event !!!!!

PS I'm a mature business student not just an old geezer

Obviously everyone would like to have events local to them but it just isn't that easy. Some of the venues in the UK just aren't upto standard to be holding a large poker event.  It's only worthwhile as a tournament if they have the capacity to hold 150-200 runners and most casinos just don't have a poker room to deal with that.   And even if they have the capacity, it doesn't mean that Sky should go there.  I have played a lot of live poker in the last couple of years, and tbh there was one venue where the organisation of the room just wasn't that great....of course the event went along fine and everyone had a good time but it could have been better! When people are spening a large amount of money to buy-in/travel and hotels, they deserve a certain level of experience from the casino that is hosting.  It would be poor form for Sky to just put on a leg at a sub-standard venue just because it is in a good location. Then there are issues like disabled access/catering/location/hotels/car parking which a lot of people who pop down to their local card room forget about. Also there may have been scheduling issues where the venues just couldn't host Sky during the dates that were free. Rich Prew is the number 1 guy in the UK when it comes to knowing live venues and their suitability to hosting large poker events. I look forward to the new tour and also hearing the new plans for 2013.

i agree with this keep the spt as a good tour and not demise it by using substandard casinos.  Im guessing this is more aimed at the glasgow casinos as they arent well equiped for big poker tournies which is a shame but i totaly agree. I run a poker league in west of scotland and only 1 casino can hold the numbers we have for our final (150-250) and the location is terrible for parking Alea last year prob best casino in glasgow have to play large tournies over 2 floors which is rediculous wish we had a DTD up here

I'm afraid I disagree with this, I think it has to be a 220 rather than a 110 to make the travel & accom costs worth the trip. I fear the numbers would be pretty low if it was a 1 day (110) event.

Am I right in thinking this would also be the first time Sky had dealt in a non-£ currency?!

Excited for the tour, I can see myself at most of the legs!
