I spent most if not all of Sunday on sky poker building up the cash for the super roller, so I just took it easy on Monday and will be playing very little poker. I did have 1 cash session but the losses did add up to -£49 and having spent all that profit from Sunday in a super roller the last thing I need is for this sort of losses to be coming frequently.
In the evening I did play DTDs, the mega stack, the mini and the semi, of those 2 prizes were won including a final table in DTD 2 winning £16.92, the second prize I got was a one in the mini with an early post bubble prize of £8.14.
for a short period i seemed to have been in maniac mode on tuesday and was getting greedy rather than happily accepting small pots. todays game seems to tell me it was just a one off as i've had a great day of poker tonight. to begin with i decided to do 5 all in sats and also 1 semi to see if i could get myself into the rebuy as that was the only main event yet to be entered, as i failed to get in i decided to just stick to the 100&200 guarentee deep stacks, 300 mega stacks and FOSP.
It appeared as though all my lucky was with FOSP, now i would have prefered it to have been in the £300 mega stack because the top prize in that one was £100+ but still it's better to have been in the FOSP than being in the £200 guarentee oor £100 guarentee deep stacks as they hand a smaller top prize, overall i i would have loved good luck in all really but was happy to just win a prize.
premium pairs seemed to be coming 1 in every 10 hands there was one time where 4/16 hands were premium pairs, an AQ went all in preflop against a short stack who's hand at the time was AA but i manage to get a split pot with straight A-5, 3/4 came AA AK and AQ at one point and that itserf wa just moments after the AQ had went all in against AA and about 6 hands later another AQ came. the best thing about it was we all had a good laugh about what was happening rather than making statements such as sky favour me.
i did have a small bit of time on cash once the FOSP finished as i was still playing the mega stack at the time, during that cash i won £2.38
overall my day has seen me make cash profit £2.38 MTT win £40.30 and -£11 SnG, total 31.68
i think i had a small moment of tilt tonight and went into far too many MTTs, overall £76 was spent in MTTs and worst thing about them was they were all going to start around the same time. last sunday i might have spent £110 on just 1 MTT alone but that day i had got the buy in made through cash play, tonight i had not yet made much from cash tables and if it weren't for a good cash session to finish my night, then i would have had a big loss.
What i think happened was i got knocked out of the orford league and couldn't see myself getting anywhere in the deep stacks, as the mega stack didn't start until 8:30 i went into the main event thinking i could maybe do well in that, things didn't go well in the main for the first hour and now i had spent lots in MTTs had 6 being played at once and was playing more like someone who wanted to get past the bubble rather than someone who's aim is to make final table and win.
my overall loss might have just been -£14.23 but i won't always have the good cash sessions to recover these losses, if i get bored waiting for a playible hand in the early stages of an MTT rather than playing on lots of tables what i should do is watch every hand closely and look through the hand history because that will allow me to get an idea of how the table is.
the maximum number of MTTs played at once i would say is 2 BH, 3 if they are all deep stacks.
what a great night it has been, i did make a few mistakes in the main and my exit hand probably shouldn't have been a exit hand as really i should have went all in pre and that would more than likely have forced A10o to fold and Q10s to have folded but as i didn't and i made a bad call it cost me my tournament life.
the mini was a different story, i didn't get off to the best of starts and i did get very lucky when i needed a double up early on with just 4232 (100/200) a raise was already made so i went all in and was called by 77, my hand was AK and it managed to counter feit 77 with 88399, from that moment on i started winning pots every few hands and once i got myself into the top 10 iremain in it for the rest of the MTT. my finish in it was 4rd which itself is my best ever finish in a mini event as i don't seem to remember ever final tabling in a mini.
what i have learned most of all from this is just how good the min 3bet can be.
Craig, I wouldn't say the min 3bet is the best move. Certainly one example of it 'working' doesn't make it the most optimal line.
Would you have min 3bet KK here? You're giving villains a ridiculous price to call with whatever they are raising with, plus potentially inviting others into the pot.
hmm does having a treble up with KK at what was roughly the start of my poker day mean i'm in for a bad day. If you looked at my game today you would think so, nl30 UTG raised me on the button 3bet KK SB called, UTG shoved i called SB put the rest of his in so i call the other £9, i'm up against QQ & 33 they missed their set and straights and flushes would have been no use anyway. so now i had £76.
All looks well and the next thing it turns into a nightmare, i had QQ went all in and faced KK so lost £33 from that hand, during that time i was loosing lots of small pots some you could say were me going too wide in the CO, a prime example is probably K8s i raised in CO the button called, postflop he called flop and turn, on the river it was still 8 high but i Ch/F.
Other losses were middle pairs still being over paired on flops and their was 3 heavy losses where i had a good hand vs a better one, KK lost to AA, QQ lost to KK and 10 10 lost some when it was on 9924 opponent had AA.
the one i say was purely my own fault was this, after he 3bet i should have just folded pre because these days 3bets are made mostly with AA-JJ and AK maybe AQ so the flop would be needing to come 7 high and then i see AK AQ ch and AA-JJ still calling
two big money MTTs entered £3K BH (£55 buy in) the £12K BH main event (£33 buy in) the difference, i entered the £3K BH via a sat, i entered the main via a direct buy in and TBH i hadn't played much cash today. i won £19 from cash tables earlier on in the day and had spent about £20 on bets non of which won. Anyway the point is i need to stop getting so wound up about a bad beat, limpers in the late stages and being so worried about loosing my chips, bounty hunters are alway going to mean taking bigger risks than deep stacks and there is lots of cheap BHs to enter if i'm so worried about loosing.
i might have improved my MTTs but i'm not an expert yet, i still don't get to many final tables, basically i'm a player who can play for fun and make small profits.
before i make a decision i should be asking myself what i'm trying to achieve.
in the main event i jammed my hand on the flop thinking about the flush draw, i didn't put any thought into the better hands at all

the second thing i need to do is improve my aggression pre when holding AK and AQ and also think more carefully about what would be likely in his range that ships post flop. here i thought too much about the head prize and didn't think for a second about the hands i see in his range and what he sees in my range but most importantly was the weak 3bet pre.
i'm playing super aggro, getting angered with callers blaming the opponents for my losses, take a break discover there was lots of mistakes made by myself, friday i decide to return to the game and what do i get, a final table in the mini.
my evening began with an attempt to enter the main via semi and i got what i wanted, an entry into the main event, the main event itself well that wasn't such good luck with the pot odds i called J8s preflop in BB, flop came 234 and as it was low and had a flush draw i tried to rep a set, the call was made an A came on turn so now i tried the straight and got shipped against a better flush draw so lost my stack.
The orford league was just not giving me hands i wanted, also it seemed to have so maniacs on my table making strong hands key, i also tried the mega stack but lost all my chips very quickly with JJ on 10 high board. in mega roller i would have fold the Ch/R that got made on flop but i see people having a much wider range in this MTT than i see by villians in mega stack.
When ever you need to leave your seat, just allow the timer to go down, don't ask your brother or sister to watch the screen whilst your away because rather than tell you what the hand is, they will just click call, so i limped in with KK preflop and had did the raise on the flop then called his shove, the bad news was i lost the chance of a win in the 2K BH (£11) the good news was i didn't have to pay entry as i got in via freeroll.
Finally i had the great final table mini, that was a very poor start and i was still only 2K when the blinds were 100/200, i took the gamble with 33 got the flip i wanted, that flip won me the stack, next minute the blinds were 200/400 i had 5K so choose to risk with Qh10h, a shorty shipped OTB and i choose to risk the call as he could have any A or a middle pair so flips were possible. His hand was KhJh so now i was only going to be saved by hitting either the straight or a pair and i got the Q on the river his J OTF did stop me from getting ahead if a 10 came. i won a flip, then got myself an average size stack the task now was to get my stack built through aggression and it wasn't as hard as expected. a player in the SB limped in with Q9o i was in the BB at the time and held A10o, being SB v BB i raised the hand, the flop came Axx(2clubs) , before doing a cbet i thought to myself i've got the Ac in my hand so rather than cbet why not Ch because i expect my cbet not be called by much else, just them flush draws and raggy aces, the turn did give a 3rd club he min bet and my notes assured me that it was safe to raise this bet of his. The river was 4th club one came he now went much bigger, i had notes on him stating monster bets, monster hands, so i went all in and he turned the Qc so i won 12K and was now right up the top of the leader board and remained top for most the MTT.

The way i exited does leave a talking point, playing like he has, i'm certain he'll be ahead, the question was do i take the flip or just wait for another chance. Not that it matters, i'll be making a note on how he will play them weaker hands because it's about weather or not he bluffs post flop as this tells me he will over bet strong hands.
That day i had a cash session in the afternoon and won £110, i decided to enter the super roller, handled it very well and accepted my exit easy. This Sunday and Monday i've had two awful days. On Sunday i got to the mid stage of the roller then lost chips, the minute i lost those chips i went into maniac mode and played awful. i exited the MTTs then went chasing money on cash late in the evening loosing even more. Monday was the same story but this time i lost much more in cash, i also spent more chasing sats and then when i exit the DTDs mega stack and 2K BH i chase them losses which end up making things worse and i got my BR down to £600. Although it sounds like tilt i'm thinking it's lack of cash games before MTTs that are the real fault.
Today i've started off early with 6 tables 3 nl20 2 nl30 and 1nl40 ! The reason i played on a nl40 was due to such a lack of choices overall, still the last thing i should be doing if on tilt is playing nl40, the good news was i managed to get a good winning on that table of £19.14 (£59.14-£40). Another sign which seems to tell me why i don't think it was tilt is when i managed to reach almost £80 on a nl20, it did drop down to about £68 and i suffered a cooler on it, held KJs called pre flop gives draw call cbet then comes the flush i Ch/R but ran into the nut flush.
It's afternoon time not night time,i'm yet to spend money in an MTT and in the end not everyone is an aggressive player so just accept all the small pots because they will add up over the course of the day.
results were -£23.50 nl20, -92p & -62p nl30. £22.45 and £26.18 nl20 and £19.14 nl40
following on from my first good cash sessions things certainly continued to go well.
my next cash session was a master cash one normally when i'm on them tables i'm having to be careful of fish but today they had players with a very good aggressive style, normally when i've seen a 3bet i'm expecting to see AA KK QQ and maybe AK but the player i faced on this occasion was much wider, his 3bets contained hands such as AJo and KQs so the action post flop was a lot more entertaining. still i didn't win a big pot against him, i only managed to loose them, i did get 1 big pot which came when i had hit set (KK) on flop QQ called a cbet, i allowed him a free card which sadly came Q so we both got sets. Those master cash sessions we -£3.73 -£29.53£20.81 £5.98 £9.72 and £5.41
after an hour of sit and go which i won £20 but lost £11 and £22 i made a return to the cash for one final session and all i can say about this sesssion is it was tight time as maniacs were everywhere. i was thinking i lost £30 when AJ his his flop, luckily i managed to get a set on river so got myself the win, someone who missed AQ decided to ship £20 for a pot win of £4.50 hoping i would fold but i decided to call my TP thinking he must be expecting me to hold rubbish since i bet so weak on flop and turn. a player with 34 decided to ship the river when i cbet the flop holding top pair but Ch the turn, this pot was £5.40 he put £20 in.
this session i switched tables frequently so i'll just give the total overall which was £32.78 won.
although i don't seem to have the BR for nl20, my cash game does seem much better than my MTT play. i've known him long enough now to clearly see that he has most likely got QQ or slow played KK, in an MTT most are unknown so this set is something i think would be shipped in an MTT even on this river.
Do you have really solid notes that they have such a narrow range of starting hands utg and would only raise river with a high set?
If so that's a brilliant fold.
Are we really sure AK, KQ, 44 - or a bluff putting you on a hand like a missed flush draw are impossible?
Personally I would have led out on flop. 4 handed a K and flush draw gives plenty of scope for customers with worse hands to stay with us. Need to be building a pot when we flop a set and have to take it on the chin if we lose to a bigger one.
there was one set i missed and that was 55, the thing about AK KQ 44 is they would have wasted a street worth of value on the flop, it might not be the wettest of board but it does have lots of gutshots which will be in peoples range and there is still the flush draws.
it just doesn't add up. 1. a Ch on a flop with gutshots that are a great part of our range.
2. he's not the sort of player who will allow free cards and he probably does know my own range well. earlier on he held 33 in BB calls my 70p cbet on flop 977 then on turn 2 came he now Ch1.40/R4.60 now this seems like a bluff because to me he is attempting to see other small pairs fold as well as charge AK Kq extra for the river card, river came an A he checked.
what i'm thinking now is it might even have been J10 calling but i was sure his range was most likely to be J10, 55 or QQ.
my early session today wasn't off to the best of starts did look as though it would be a session of losses. I think i'll put the bad start down to being badly organised and eating my lunch during play rather than before hand. Once i had eaten my meal things went back to normal, i was fully relax and didn't have any distraction. it was early in the afternoon so my tables themselves were again a mixture of nl10 nl20 nl30 and nl40, i also did a few switch overs too so overall i had 9 table outcomes rather than 6,Of those only 1 was nl40 and that table got a win of £5.79, 3 were nl30 and they got £5.15, £27.07 and -£3.18
My total overall was a profit of £19.47
as for the player in the hand above, I think when heads up this player and me have got a big rivalry going at the minute,

£22.45 and £26.18 nl20 and £19.14 nl40
my next cash session was a master cash one normally when i'm on them tables i'm having to be careful of fish but today they had players with a very good aggressive style, normally when i've seen a 3bet i'm expecting to see AA KK QQ and maybe AK but the player i faced on this occasion was much wider, his 3bets contained hands such as AJo and KQs so the action post flop was a lot more entertaining. still i didn't win a big pot against him, i only managed to loose them, i did get 1 big pot which came when i had hit set (KK) on flop QQ called a cbet, i allowed him a free card which sadly came Q so we both got sets.
Those master cash sessions we -£3.73 -£29.53 £20.81 £5.98 £9.72 and £5.41
after an hour of sit and go which i won £20 but lost £11 and £22 i made a return to the cash for one final session and all i can say about this sesssion is it was tight time as maniacs were everywhere. i was thinking i lost £30 when AJ his his flop, luckily i managed to get a set on river so got myself the win, someone who missed AQ decided to ship £20 for a pot win of £4.50 hoping i would fold but i decided to call my TP thinking he must be expecting me to hold rubbish since i bet so weak on flop and turn. a player with 34 decided to ship the river when i cbet the flop holding top pair but Ch the turn, this pot was £5.40 he put £20 in.
this session i switched tables frequently so i'll just give the total overall which was £32.78 won.
although i don't seem to have the BR for nl20, my cash game does seem much better than my MTT play.
i've known him long enough now to clearly see that he has most likely got QQ or slow played KK, in an MTT most are unknown so this set is something i think would be shipped in an MTT even on this river.
Need to be building a pot when we flop a set and have to take it on the chin if we lose to a bigger one.
it just doesn't add up.
1. a Ch on a flop with gutshots that are a great part of our range.
2. he's not the sort of player who will allow free cards and he probably does know my own range well. earlier on he held 33 in BB calls my 70p cbet on flop 977 then on turn 2 came he now Ch1.40/R4.60 now this seems like a bluff because to me he is attempting to see other small pairs fold as well as charge AK Kq extra for the river card, river came an A he checked.
what i'm thinking now is it might even have been J10 calling but i was sure his range was most likely to be J10, 55 or QQ.
Without giving your strategies away and history with that you player you need to think..
Has he got you marked as a "small bet believer" on the river? In which case it could still be a bluff and it worked.
If we think the more likely line is he really is strong then 44/55 and possibly KQ are our only hope and QQ KK JT have us beat.
You have put some of his hands out of range because he has missed value on the flop - but my other point was so have you.
My total overall was a profit of £19.47
as for the player in the hand above, I think when heads up this player and me have got a big rivalry going at the minute,
