chasing sats, spending so long on cash tables, not accepting defeat, getting annoyed when a decent hand failed to be called, you guessed it i've had a few days where i've got too results orientated and gone on tilt.
Today was had non of that, instead it was a nice and relaxing evening where i just stayed calm and patient.
first i tried the mini freeroll-failed and failed. 6pm i entered myself into the semi and the 2K BH freeroll, the freeroll again was not a success but the semi on the other hand was a success so i was in the main event. Whilst waiting for the main event i did a bit of cash on 2 tables and got myself £21.54 profit and once the main came i left them and put my whole focus on that and the mini. I didn't last long in either of them but the positive thing about them failures today was i didn't get annoyed with anything just accepted the loss and moved on.
Once i went out of them i decided to play the 2K BH as i did get £11.25 from a HP in the main, this one had lots of decent hands to start with and things were looking great most of the way, I did play 2 cash tables this time but the reason being was i only had 1 MTT so could put a bit of focus on the cash.
today has been a great day in MTTs, the thing about today is it tells me i was getting too addicted to my own hands in the past and not giving them up enough.

I could have went out very early indeed when i held JJ, a bet that big preflop, i'm already ringing my alarm thinking i could be in big trouble, when he then does a full pot bet on this board, i could see myself making too big a risk calling because my hand would already strong due to the fact it's UTG raise, the fact his chip stack is larger tells me he is maybe hoping for a call to be made as there would now be a good chance he gets a head.

when the blinds were 75/150 my chip stack did get down to just 1530, i was in the SB, the button raised so i decided to take the risk, shipped 55 in and it got me doubled as A10 missed. I still wasn't getting much chance to double up again, soon my chip stack dropped to 1985 (125/250) but then came a J10 which got me 1K worth of chips so now i had 3360. when my chipstack was 2985 (125/250) i now had another double up as QQ hit a set on the flop having min raised pre and getting called by Q5. From this point onwards things turned round and chips were coming my way. Q8 in BB limped pot did weak bets on each street as flop came 8 high and was a very draw heavy board, the caller on all streets had K3s chasing a flush, next i got 1500 when i did a raise OTB with AA, SB 3bet but then folds when i shipped. My chipstack itself was now at 7820 (150/300) but still not above average, then came the big one when i held JJ a player UTG shipped 5824 UTG+1 called and now i shipped my JJ in BB which UTG+1 called and i managed to win that pot which was 22214 and now got myself in the top 10. in the past i've went from chip leader to bottom of the list very quickly by over valuing hands today however i thought much more wisely and did what i could so that a weaker hand would remain in as this example shows, when he ch/R that flop i'm thinking to myself there is no flush or straights, he didn't 3bet preflop and our stacks are both simular, so doing this ch/R he either has Qx or a set, the thing with Qx is i can't see it calling a jam as it will know i'm not likely to hold a draw leaving him with just overpairs AQ KQ or sets.

overall i was much more careful with bluffs and bet sizing.
my sharkscope might show more than 3 big wins but overall there are 4 stand out win on it.
1st one was when i got myself onto a final table of the 3K BH twice in one month 19th&30th of January £569 total. On the 21st of feb i finished 3rd in a 10K BH main event and won £656 in that event. I finished 1st in a 750 BH and also took money rather than entry into a UKPC final that got me £384 total. Finally yesterday i got myself finished 2nd place in Saturday's BH main event winning the biggest amount of all £981.
i've had bad times in MTTs as well but considering that i am usually a good cash player, taking into account that this sharkscope shows myself now over 1K, it's time now for me to put an end to the tilts and stop chasing all the money i loose from buy ins because if i am going to keep on doing that then i should just withdraw all of this money i've won because it's happened once already when £1K dropped to £300, then i got myself to £800 but dropped to £300, so having got myself from 300 back to over £1.2K i need to either stay like this or withdraw now.
another day has past and again i have managed to pass the bubble in the main event.

i do question some of my play in the late stages of this event and think more mistakes were made, some were loose calls others being too passive, for instance i got 3bet pre by the BB (blinds 600/1200) had 99 the flop came Jc8h4h he Ch/R 3600/12000, the minute he does that i should have folded as he likely had a premium pair with the heart. my next bad one was a double barrell i did when i min raised A9s flop was Qh7h7s i cbet 4000 get called which should have told me he has got a hand, instead i doubled on turn he went all in so i folded. 3rd hand was when i 3bet JJ preflop again blinds being 600/1200 the open raise called and flop came AdKs6d we both ch the flop then he does a bet of 1600 on a brick turn, the chances are he did it knowing i'm likely holding eith set or weaker premium pair such as QQ so as the turn didn't give me that 3rd diamond i should have folded my JJ now knowing i'm most likely beat.
Q. when i see the flush come on this river rather than risk him just checking a flush should i just make the lead bet and hope that he calls knowing myself it's only likely he will call a flush
had one good MTT tonight, i finished in 3rd place in the orford league.
most of my poker this week has been playing MTTs and no suprise really i've seen my BR loose £200. the cash tables also feel harder now than when i first started nl20 and i am thinking this may be down to the fact i've been on these tables for a while.
sundays super roller is an MTT that will always mean starting from a sat into the semi, thursday main event will be the one main event i do directly buy myself in as it's the biggest of all and i expect the greatest amount of people to join, saturday's main event will depend on how i am feeling after the football, tuesday's and wednesday's mains are a no, finally monday's and friday's main are two that i need to enter via the semi because mistakes are more likely with the ordford and DTD being played.
my cash might have been poor but as predicted my main event tonight went very well, i might have finished 27 but TBH i put part of that blame on shorties getting lucky frequently. the early stages and mid stages i seemed to be getting the maximum value from people weather it was from cbetting against a villian to my left i knew easily folded post flop and knowing how passive others were too doing careful betting rathe than ch/C the middle pairs. you could say it goes back to the point i was making yesterday really because i only had the two MTTs today and no cash tables plus by the time the mini started i already had an idea of how the main event table dynamic was.

mondays are DTDs or nothing at all not even via an all in or semi instead i'll just use that £33 towards a different BH main later in the week. i went out of DTD 2 very early the blind hadn't even got round the full table, what happened was i hit middle set on the board 653 i Ch/R then called and on the turn i went Ch/C a shove, i was worried about 66 but what i didn't see coming was 74s. DTD 1 was going ok but once the main event started (got in via semi) i turned my attention towards that, what then happened was i started leaking chips with over betting preflop and soon decided to give up. having give myself up in DTD 1 and not bother with DTD 3 i was thinking now i would be able to get myself going in the main but having already been in for 15 minutes my stack was now dropping and i was still not fully clear of the table dynamic and i didn't really last more than an hour in the main. i best of just not bohering because i can't be guarentee to do well in the main event even if my MTTs have see great improvements and it's certainly alot harder to focus when i have 3 low buy in deep stacks running in comparison to the one full ring deepy on friday.
as for cash games well that seemed to be a story of two halfs, the early sessions were bad losses first was a loss of £54 the second one was a loss of -£9. on thing that did raise questions was when i saw a player B1.88/C4.96 with KsQc OTF Kc6c7c and Qd he Ch/C£8 i had 76s a few hands later i saw myself in a very simulart spot when the flop was As Qs 6s i had AQ he cbet£1.20/C£3.30, the different here was on the turn (7d), before he Ch/C the second street but here he choose to go Ch£6.60/AI £22.42, when i made the call and saw him with a flush i fealt like slapping myself in the face because knowing he Cbet/C and Ch/C his previous two pair it should have told me clearly he has a flush.
the second cash session was a great one and i think it was helped a great deal by me doing better with getting the timing of a raise correct, cbets can be quite often bluffs so i am still not yet certain a player has got anything so rather than always raising on the flop i sometimes went for the more patient route of raising on the turn because they say turns are when hand strength really become clear.
today has been a story of cash and only cash, well 2 SnG too but generally a full day of cash.
my first cash session was a very good one, i had 4 tables going in that session and managed £32, £33, £4 and-£9 (tot £60.94) their was the one maniac but really it was not yet mid day and most the people on the table in this session were tight regs so i managed to keep my losses to a low and win some good ones.
the second session was a one where i was either dominating the table or having a nioghtmare i had 3 wins £32 £57 and £12 but i also had 4 losses -£3 -£4 -£18 -£2 the total in that session was £73.47, having got just 1 loss over £10 in that session comparison to the 4 wins over £10 including £42.23 in one alone my guess is there was lots missing and i payed more attention to the big stack tables.
my 3rd session came at a time when the tables were filled with maniacs LAG and calling stations, as i was still in the mode where tables were tight things didn't get off to a good start at all and it was looking very poor for me, after about 30 minutes i started to get into the very tight gear aggressive gear where i was charging lots for them bad calls, sadly i did loose too much to start with so the tables were mostly losses but i did get 1 table with a very good win and i am thinking i might have lost out on a possible £20 more as well as maybe calling an AK when i should have preflop. £40 -£16 -£29 -£6 -£0.63 -£16 -£12 tot -£41.15
the final session i think was just a one of them sessions i rushed too quickly i did get some good wins but overall that loss was -£5.35
the overall day £89.11
this is the one i question loosing value from

this is a hand which came minutes later and gives an idea of what i mean and i had a good idea of how loose she was from earlier hands
thursday seems to have been the day where poker should not have been played, it started with heavy losses when playing PLO and my experience in that game tells me stick to PLo8 where these bad hands can make the calls but i can be confidient of winning half it most days with the lo. the MTTs seemed to have bad stories first i see myself play AK badly and allow Q10 to bluff then seeing him get a lucky runner runner to knock me out in the main and not managing to keep that out my head when playing the mini which at the time had me on a chip stack of 6K i lost it all when 9h97h i raise a cbet with Kh10h then came the 8h which was the heart i didn't want and that saw me toss my MTT away and give myself up too easily. the cash games too wer poor so i ended up staying up longer than expected as these bad cash tables were holding maniacs and i did get most that cash back but it did mean a very late night.
all that seems to have vanished as today has started of with a great cash session. all in all i seemed to have 2 great cash tables where the profit was (£78 & £52), i also had 2 bad ones which had losses of (£47 & £35), one of the bad losses was understandable but the other one had a big issue and that issue was 1 of the villians on that tables was playing like a totally new style. 99% of hands would be called preflop so i knew he was loose, 99% of streets he was doing a blocker bet so i sensed weakness, the issue with them weak bets i couldn't take the risk of doing a raisk because unlike most others he was also a callingstation so would call 99% of raises, the next issue unlike other calling stations he doesn't reveal stronger hands easily because those too are min bet. he seemed to be a one who have a bit of every loose type in him except the fit fold type loose player.
Cash was my afternoon game and MTTs were my evening game. The post above states my cash session, now it's time to report my MTTs.
Things started off with me entering a semi, that was a tricky one, I didn't really get that good a chip stack, late on when we were very close to the bubble I was just above the bubble number and decided to take a few brave folds with hands like JJ and 1010, it did seem to be the wrong choice and so I had to force myself a double up with AQ and got there.
Next it was the orford league, for a MTT that has got a deep stack type structure boy did my table look like that of a turbo or freeroll type, 2 people on it were jamming 250BB with AK and TP that sort of stuff, some of us were feeling annoyed, the minute he went out we all thanked that person who caused him to exit. My position in that one was 62nd.
The main event was my best one of the night, I was very lucky with things in the early stages a person with KJs jammed OTF 7high (chip stack 1100) which forced me into folding A7 but, lucky for me another person made a call with his straight draw so allowed me the note. Later on this same donkey did it again this time I had to call as I already committed too many chips, he may have had a flush but I still I had to call my TP Q kicker and the thankfully it was just another bluff so I won and after that it was finished with me knocking him out with KK vs. A10. My next big event took place when KK hit a set, I had 3bet pre, J10 called and then on the flop everything went in so I won and got my stack to 6K.
Things were now looking great in the main, soon I had a spot where a short had shipped my table had a man who jams air post flop for a possible head prize even if that hand is 62o so I decided to shove my JJ for protection, unfortunately for me another player had AA and both flush draws were ruled out so all I had left was the hope of a straight or set and straight is what came. My stack was getting massive and I was way ahead of the rest. soon I was moved onto a table with a fish who's chip stack was large and I did lose some chips, but it didn't take long before I raised with 109o attempting to steal and got called by a 22 and J8s the flop was QJ2, the fish donked so I called the turn give me the straight, the set himself raise on this street, I opted to just call and then when the river came a brick I went all in and won 29092.
I was doing great for the rest of the MTT, most days you would think I manage final table but I didn't and I would say myself it was down to a bad call against a min donkey and then bad bets against a fish head chaser. knowing he limp in when in an earlier SB and doing min bets post flop I should have seen the sign of a strong hand on the turn and rather than put my whole life at risk I should have just made the fold.

i just can't think of any other reason really because it's not what i usually see calling pre then on the flop and turn i'm surely thinking it's now either 10x or kx.
playing chess games, getting easy cash from them on 888 poker, meetings and a epileptic fit, so i've had a quiet week of virtually no poker at all on sky. now i'm back again, tonight my game was mostly cash although i did have a couple of MTTs. first i tried the semi and didn't succeed, so i just bought my way into the main and mini.
During the semi i had 4 cash tables and they were a time for me loosing, the total cost lost was -£38.50
once i went i the mini and sat for 2K BH i choose to just keep to cash and by doing this i managed a very good session, i had 4 table wins including £73.17 on one alone, i did loose £26 on a single table too but the rest were tiny where as the other winnings were £10. overall i won £92.93 that session.
my total winnings for the night was £2.73 (54.43-£51.70)
friday was what you call a tournament day, apart from 1 action table sky poker was about nothing but MTT and SnG. the number of SnG i played yesterday was probably my greatest amount to have been played in one day 10 overall (1HU 2 6max 1 9max and 6 DYM) most the cost were low but i did spend £10.50 and £11 on a 6 max and HU which both were lost.
the overall total for the day was a loss of £21.40
the MTTs i bought into were main & mini the orford the 2KBH and for a change i tried the mega stack. i choose to risk my full stack so I have to accept the exit i get in the main, my good MTT seem to be in the orford and mega stack, i finished 3rd in the orford and thanks to a4th finish a previous week i won the monthly prize too. The mega stack i finished 8th and won £12.48. overall but i lost £30.15 in MTTs
during the last week i've been blaming limpers and slow rollers as the reason for my exits in MTTs, now i shall take all that back as i think the truth is i might not be respecting these peoples bets enough, the fact is i know they will be weak most days and bluffs are very rare. bluffs that do happen are min bets.
i've got a very good stack already am out of position and very little equity. rather than have myself in these spots i should just wait for better spots ie sitting in position.

so i went out of the main through bad play from myself, but in the mini i was doing very well
in the main event i had 5K and was doing well then tossed it away through a bad cbet on turn and also a over bet with TPTK.
in the mini i had a great chipstack was very dominant against people doing limps with premiums then i cbet/C AQs on a flop 10 10 9 (rainbow) and call the rest when ace came on turn, normally we don't expect people doing it with trips but some just can't wait, so i should have just ch the flop or cbet/fold, again what i shouldn't have did was get obsessed with a possible head prize.
lots of poor bounty hunters made up my day. I did have one MTT with a difference and that MTT was a mega stack, most the other people were still the same sort of players as them from BH but in this MTT i had managed to get a chipstack and unlike my massive ones i got in those BH in this mega stack i kept it as a big stack.
next aim i need to do is to start being more sensible in them bounty hunters, the time i finished 2nd in a saturday BH main i did so because i folded a JJ overpair knowing i was likely beaten.
also maybe i should say to myself what if he raised? What will he call with? what do i do if a scare card comes? all this before i bet my hands.
£123.42 cash won through the day on the cash tables, the last few days i've lost lots through playing sats. although it might seem different in truth it's all the same really, both routes could win me £110 as sats themselves i could do the direct buy in for the MTT they will win entry into then once the sat is finished i just cancel my buy in and get that £110, with cash it's just me winning that money through the day and then get entry into the main event.
the difference about todays route was i managed to remain calm through out the cash rather than start panicing over the limp blocker players, calling stations and looking as though i might not make it myself, also when i got my self into the event i didn't have all the cost of them sats in the back of my mind either, instead i was just a person with confidence of a good cash session.
i did get a loss of £51 in cash late on but i think my best option would have been to leave sky cash tables and go onto 888 poker as it wasn't much of a cash session really just something else to do whilst i finished the deep stack and watched the last hour of sky poker TV.
i didn't get far in the mega or mini roller but it wasn't all bad news, i did get a small prize early on in a BH winning £11.70 (14.70-3.30) and this evening i won £200 deepy, finished 1st so got top prize of £88.80-£5.50.
my overall day has been a much better one than recent days and i have finished overall with a profit of £36.31, best of all i've not had any of the reactions i had in recent days.
i got a good finish in one of the DTDs, i won the orford league last month, i won the mega stack on friday and now i've won a deep stack today. also of course i am consistantly winning profits on my cash table.
deep type games most certainly are the type of game that i like best so now it's hello to deep stack MTTs more frequently.
Comments
Once i went out of them i decided to play the 2K BH as i did get £11.25 from a HP in the main, this one had lots of decent hands to start with and things were looking great most of the way, I did play 2 cash tables this time but the reason being was i only had 1 MTT so could put a bit of focus on the cash.
overall my day finished-
MTTs -£8.70
cash +£58.91
in the past i've went from chip leader to bottom of the list very quickly by over valuing hands today however i thought much more wisely and did what i could so that a weaker hand would remain in as this example shows, when he ch/R that flop i'm thinking to myself there is no flush or straights, he didn't 3bet preflop and our stacks are both simular, so doing this ch/R he either has Qx or a set, the thing with Qx is i can't see it calling a jam as it will know i'm not likely to hold a draw leaving him with just overpairs AQ KQ or sets.
Q. when i see the flush come on this river rather than risk him just checking a flush should i just make the lead bet and hope that he calls knowing myself it's only likely he will call a flush
most of my poker this week has been playing MTTs and no suprise really i've seen my BR loose £200. the cash tables also feel harder now than when i first started nl20 and i am thinking this may be down to the fact i've been on these tables for a while.
sundays super roller is an MTT that will always mean starting from a sat into the semi, thursday main event will be the one main event i do directly buy myself in as it's the biggest of all and i expect the greatest amount of people to join, saturday's main event will depend on how i am feeling after the football, tuesday's and wednesday's mains are a no, finally monday's and friday's main are two that i need to enter via the semi because mistakes are more likely with the ordford and DTD being played.
you could say it goes back to the point i was making yesterday really because i only had the two MTTs today and no cash tables plus by the time the mini started i already had an idea of how the main event table dynamic was.
MTT £9.59
total was a loss of -£78.24
DTD 1 was going ok but once the main event started (got in via semi) i turned my attention towards that, what then happened was i started leaking chips with over betting preflop and soon decided to give up. having give myself up in DTD 1 and not bother with DTD 3 i was thinking now i would be able to get myself going in the main but having already been in for 15 minutes my stack was now dropping and i was still not fully clear of the table dynamic and i didn't really last more than an hour in the main.
i best of just not bohering because i can't be guarentee to do well in the main event even if my MTTs have see great improvements and it's certainly alot harder to focus when i have 3 low buy in deep stacks running in comparison to the one full ring deepy on friday.
as for cash games well that seemed to be a story of two halfs, the early sessions were bad losses first was a loss of £54 the second one was a loss of -£9. on thing that did raise questions was when i saw a player B1.88/C4.96 with KsQc OTF Kc6c7c and Qd he Ch/C£8 i had 76s a few hands later i saw myself in a very simulart spot when the flop was As Qs 6s i had AQ he cbet£1.20/C£3.30, the different here was on the turn (7d), before he Ch/C the second street but here he choose to go Ch£6.60/AI £22.42, when i made the call and saw him with a flush i fealt like slapping myself in the face because knowing he Cbet/C and Ch/C his previous two pair it should have told me clearly he has a flush.
the second cash session was a great one and i think it was helped a great deal by me doing better with getting the timing of a raise correct, cbets can be quite often bluffs so i am still not yet certain a player has got anything so rather than always raising on the flop i sometimes went for the more patient route of raising on the turn because they say turns are when hand strength really become clear.
cash sessions £62.91
MTT -£17.60
SnG £6.55
my first cash session was a very good one, i had 4 tables going in that session and managed £32, £33, £4 and-£9 (tot £60.94) their was the one maniac but really it was not yet mid day and most the people on the table in this session were tight regs so i managed to keep my losses to a low and win some good ones.
the second session was a one where i was either dominating the table or having a nioghtmare i had 3 wins £32 £57 and £12 but i also had 4 losses -£3 -£4 -£18 -£2 the total in that session was £73.47, having got just 1 loss over £10 in that session comparison to the 4 wins over £10 including £42.23 in one alone my guess is there was lots missing and i payed more attention to the big stack tables.
my 3rd session came at a time when the tables were filled with maniacs LAG and calling stations, as i was still in the mode where tables were tight things didn't get off to a good start at all and it was looking very poor for me, after about 30 minutes i started to get into the very tight gear aggressive gear where i was charging lots for them bad calls, sadly i did loose too much to start with so the tables were mostly losses but i did get 1 table with a very good win and i am thinking i might have lost out on a possible £20 more as well as maybe calling an AK when i should have preflop.
£40 -£16 -£29 -£6 -£0.63 -£16 -£12 tot -£41.15
the final session i think was just a one of them sessions i rushed too quickly i did get some good wins but overall that loss was -£5.35
the overall day £89.11
this is the one i question loosing value from
all that seems to have vanished as today has started of with a great cash session.
all in all i seemed to have 2 great cash tables where the profit was (£78 & £52), i also had 2 bad ones which had losses of (£47 & £35), one of the bad losses was understandable but the other one had a big issue and that issue was 1 of the villians on that tables was playing like a totally new style. 99% of hands would be called preflop so i knew he was loose, 99% of streets he was doing a blocker bet so i sensed weakness, the issue with them weak bets i couldn't take the risk of doing a raisk because unlike most others he was also a callingstation so would call 99% of raises, the next issue unlike other calling stations he doesn't reveal stronger hands easily because those too are min bet.
he seemed to be a one who have a bit of every loose type in him except the fit fold type loose player.
overall my win that session was £92.59
Cash was my afternoon game and MTTs were my evening game.
MTT £80.35
total £172.94
first i tried the semi and didn't succeed, so i just bought my way into the main and mini.
During the semi i had 4 cash tables and they were a time for me loosing, the total cost lost was -£38.50
once i went i the mini and sat for 2K BH i choose to just keep to cash and by doing this i managed a very good session, i had 4 table wins including £73.17 on one alone, i did loose £26 on a single table too but the rest were tiny where as the other winnings were £10. overall i won £92.93 that session.
my total winnings for the night was £2.73 (54.43-£51.70)
the number of SnG i played yesterday was probably my greatest amount to have been played in one day 10 overall (1HU 2 6max 1 9max and 6 DYM) most the cost were low but i did spend £10.50 and £11 on a 6 max and HU which both were lost.
the overall total for the day was a loss of £21.40
the MTTs i bought into were main & mini the orford the 2KBH and for a change i tried the mega stack. i choose to risk my full stack so I have to accept the exit i get in the main, my good MTT seem to be in the orford and mega stack, i finished 3rd in the orford and thanks to a4th finish a previous week i won the monthly prize too. The mega stack i finished 8th and won £12.48. overall but i lost £30.15 in MTTs
the whole day was -£48.67
i've got a very good stack already am out of position and very little equity. rather than have myself in these spots i should just wait for better spots ie sitting in position.
in the mini i had a great chipstack was very dominant against people doing limps with premiums then i cbet/C AQs on a flop 10 10 9 (rainbow) and call the rest when ace came on turn, normally we don't expect people doing it with trips but some just can't wait, so i should have just ch the flop or cbet/fold, again what i shouldn't have did was get obsessed with a possible head prize.
