cheers Sjspanky. Yeah dev, when gary gives his views on a hand then I can never really argue with it. The man destroys the small stakes BH's on a reg basis. That's why I'm going to posting any hands/exit hands that I feel I may have played badly......my game is all over the place, not sure when or why it started but it needs to stop. So any hands that I post that are poor......berate me, insult me, laugh at me....whatever, I need it (along with some advice obv!!). I'm thick skinned and I won't cry (much). I need a kick up the rear end as much as anything! Posted by waller02
you have a good attitude mate,which is good and will help you through these not so good poker times for you at the moment. look at how my cash game was/still is lol a few weeks ago even,and by posting hands up how much I've learnt. i'm sure it's pretty much the same for you mate, a few leaks have set in,may have always been there and just got worse. i'm sure by posting them up they will soon become very clear to you,and you can then set about correcting them. then i'm sure your b/roll will move upwards once again. gl buddy dev
Update so far............I am realising that I have more leaks than an apprentice plumber may come across throughout their entire training programme, apart from that I'm having fun.
The 20:05 BH that I had been eagerly anticipating was nothing short of a disaster........I won't post the hand as I already know it was a MASSIVE error on my part (hero calling with Ace high on a double paired board because I put the guy on a busted flush draw is never a good move.....like I said leaks!)
Still in a BH (1 head taken) and not in bad shape, need a result from this.
Also, played a £1 6 max stt and came 2nd to just about double my money. I think I need to stop multi tabling until I can afford it though.
BR tba after the remaining BH........(I need a BINK!)
I didn't cash in the BH. Here is the exit hand...........comments appreciated.
My thoughts......Should have shoved pre, maybe oppo folds?? As played, was never folding on the flop to one over so checked to induce a bluff with the intention of shoving, if he has the Jack then gg, we are 7 off the money here so I guess I didn't shove pre to give myself a chance to get away from a BAD flop........I got my chips in as a big fav but I guess it was still poor play on my part...........save the ballache and shove pre!!!!!
BR = £43.75
Lessons from tonight:
1. I am poor 2. I'm going to stick with these low stakes BH's because I honestly feel like I can succeed (egg on my face right there). 3. When I think about it I did have value for money as I was planning on playing £2 DYM's so in the grand scheme of things........it aint so bad!!!
Hi W Hope things are improving for you. Looking at the above, with just ~13bb's i think you've got to shove here to try to win 15% 0f your stack without seeing a flop. TBH up to 15 BB's is shoveable imo. I cant see some stack sizes or the aggressiveness of the players which may have affected it in your mind but a min cash is not the way to go imo. FTW!!! I don't think the shove would have been called by A5s imo as you can see now your opponent has the stack to call and fish for a flush draw even tho a bit loose etc but with a MP shove he's got to be thinking of you having ak or mppr+ etc and have him dominated. Remember you can always suck out too. You are imperilling yourself by giving them the chance to seea flop. Try to put your opponents to the tough decision as its much easier to shove than call, isn't it? Aggression near the bubble will pay dividendes in the end, i feel. All the best.
just seen a waller03 playing nl4... any relation? lol (* *) ^ dev ps; nah,can't be...he's got £10.56 in front of him!!! lol sorry mate...couldn't resist it. Posted by devonfish5
ha ha ha de ha!!!!
He is a decent player to be fair, been on the same table as him a few times.......I'm not even the best waller on the site, must run better!!
Just going to play the one BH today. Won't be playing tonight as I have got some mates coming round for an action packed night of football, boxing and BEEEEEEER!!!!!!
Still playing the BH....here is a hand where I was unsure about...
Reads on villain......very shove happy, he had recently doubled up after open shoving 1.5k stack with A3o and getting looked up by a guy with 22. So, wasn't sure what to make about his shove here. Must be beat???
Fold fold fold. No way you need to call here and risk your entire tournament. Limped pot. You really think he'd be shoving with 5X? much more likely to be 22s or a straight. You arent even beating a lot of 7X hands. Definite fold IMO. Only reason id call is if I had reads on the player and notes from previous MTTs.
Well, this is the first time I have been on since Saturday afternoon. What a heavy weekend!
Watched the froch fight....what a fight, best one I have seen for many a year. Two warriors!! So pleased that froch won but I still think he will struggle against ward again, even if the fight is in England. Anyway, just about recovered now so finally going to play some poker.
Re: the last hand I posted.............I called. The reason being because of his open shove with A3o 2 hands before. In £2.30 BH's there are plenty of players who will go crazy with so many hands that I beat here and I put this guy in that bracket. Not to be this time though, he obv had A4 lol. I fold here the majority of the time but this was a player dependant call that I got wrong!! I did take one head though so could have been worse I guess.
BR = £42.20
Playing some freerolls to start with today then will think about some BH's and the £1.10 DS later.
Just played a £250 BH, was sitting in the top 3 with 54 left then this happens!!

If I win this hand I'm a massive chip leader, in profit with head prizes and confident that I could push onto the ft.
This dropped me right back down the field and needless to say I never recovered, finally getting my chips in with 77 against AK and not holding. Finished 29th with 18 cashing. Only positive was that I made £2.06 in head prizes so can't complain too much. Just frustrating to feel the tide turning then getting kicked again.
Full BR update later as I have reg for the DTD 2 (£1.10) and the £500 BH (£2.30).........pleeeeease let me cash!!!
Tonights poker has come to an end. Once again it was a unsuccessful evening. I'm getting closer and closer to cashing but failing everytime. Apart from the £250 BH earlier I have never really been able to build up a commanding stack which concerns me slightly but I am starting to improve slowly.
In the £1.10 DTD 2 I never really got going and with 75 left I got my chips in as a reasonable fav 88 v A5...only for an Ace to come on the river.
The hands were reversed in the £500 BH. I got off to a fortunate start winning a 3.5k pot with AK v K6 on a K68 flop....ace on river. After that I never really built up a decent stack and was always around average. I did lose a crucial hand in the mid stages where I got rivered for a 7k pot and what would have been a nice head prize. After that I was always fairly short and looking for a spot to double up. With 9bb left it was folded round to me on the button so I shoved my A5 only to be looked up by 88.......an 8 on the flop knocked me out 4 short of the money, close but no cigar. I had one head prize of 94p.
I have had a reasonable chance of cashing in 2 of the 3 mtt's I have played today, especially the £250 BH where if one hand had held I would have had a great chance of making the ft. The falling BR is a concern though and if it does fall to the £30 mark then I am going to have to try some 4nl to try and build it back up.
Change of plan tonight, and probably all week. I decided to 3 table 4nl for about 90 mins.....why?
1. Because I'm always too tired to focus on mtt's during the week as I'm quite busy with work and kids etc.. 2. I feel this is the best way to try and build my roll (with the odd mtt thrown in at weekends).
The session went really well so I suppose it's easy for me to say 4nl is the way forward at this stage. I know there will be BAD sessions along the way but it was good to get off to a good start at least. I'm not playing anymore tonight as I wanna chill a bit before bed.

1. The oppo had just lost a £7 quid pot literally the hand before so I was well aware he could easily be on tilt here. Slight worry about the flush but even if he has it (which I thought was unlikely given the circumstances) I have the Ac as slight insurance. Hand played ok? Bet sizing? I feel I should have maybe 3 bet bigger pre?

Here is my biggest losing hand........played bad on EVERY street I feel. Just fold pre???
All gravy apart from maybe just bin Q7 pre (or raise). I sometimes make up with junk and end up winning a small pot or losing a decent one, a part of my game I'm trying to improve on.
Plus he always has the goods when he bets pot on river there.

yeah fully agree....hands like this show why it is not good practice to call the extra 2p with junk. As for the call on the river.....bit of positive tilt me thinks, I was feeling invincible at the time, that brought me back down to earth haha
Just played a quick 90 mins before the football.......not great!

When he 3 bets and somebody else calls in front of me I'm really not sure what to do......Is it 4 bet or fold?? I'm in position and don't really wanna get it in pre if I'm shoved on, so I just call. Bad?
Anyway, the flop is perfect for me. I c/c to keep oppo in the hand as he is more than capable of folding big hands, which I don't want him to do.........Is this wrong??? On the turn I feel now that I should have shoved but again I don't want a fold. Are you calling a shove there oppo???? I'm guessing you are or why call the £2.65.
River is cruel.......but I get the feeling I played this hand that badly that I asked for it. If you are reading this oppo then I would be interested to hear your thoughts, especially the turn? I will leave your name out in case you don't see this. BTW........nh (spose)!!

Re: the JJ hand. Big thanks to lambert for explaining that because the oppo's 3 bet range (especially because of the sizing) here is narrow I'm very rarely in good shape and should prob be folding pre. Now, oppo will 3 bet light and own my backside (but then again, I may not fold......I prob will!)
Another hour or so 3 tabling 4nl......just CBA to play much this week, the summer months are quite busy at work and I find myself too tired to play for long (must be getting old!)
It was a winning session, nothing spectacular but I will take a session like this everyday if it means things start going in the right direction. I'm gonna give 4nl a serious go I think.....90% cash 10% MTT. I do enjoy it and I like the fact that I can stop playing whenever I want, just hope variance is kind until I can afford the beats!

This hand, I'm not too happy about how I played it. Oppo's first hand at the table. One leak of mine that I seem to do every now and then is limp in on the SB with marginal/poor hands. This time it cost me. Any thoughts?? (if anybody even reads this)

That's the lot for the evening.....Run golden all. Goodnight!
ok ok the jj hand was me. the more i look at it the more i know i shouldnt have called the turn, it wasnt a snap call btw it was a last second call and i maybe levelled myself too much just because we have a little history from the last time we encountered each other at cash a few months ago.
i do reckon ive played it much worse than you waller and ive got extremely lucky in the end up, i know its no consolation to yourself, but i really do think i should be folding turn more often than i should be calling it
Comments
look at how my cash game was/still is lol a few weeks ago even,and by posting hands up how much I've learnt.
i'm sure it's pretty much the same for you mate, a few leaks have set in,may have always been there and just got worse.
i'm sure by posting them up they will soon become very clear to you,and you can then set about correcting them.
then i'm sure your b/roll will move upwards once again.

BR = £43.75
Lessons from tonight:
1. I am poor
2. I'm going to stick with these low stakes BH's because I honestly feel like I can succeed (egg on my face right there).
3. When I think about it I did have value for money as I was planning on playing £2 DYM's so in the grand scheme of things........it aint so bad!!!
Here is the hand (hangs head in shame)
Hope things are improving for you.
All the best.

ps; nah,can't be...he's got £10.56 in front of him!!!
lol sorry mate...couldn't resist it.
He is a decent player to be fair, been on the same table as him a few times.......I'm not even the best waller on the site, must run better!!
Just going to play the one BH today. Won't be playing tonight as I have got some mates coming round for an action packed night of football, boxing and BEEEEEEER!!!!!!
Reads on villain......very shove happy, he had recently doubled up after open shoving 1.5k stack with A3o and getting looked up by a guy with 22. So, wasn't sure what to make about his shove here. Must be beat???
BR = £42.20
Playing some freerolls to start with today then will think about some BH's and the £1.10 DS later.
Just played a £250 BH, was sitting in the top 3 with 54 left then this happens!!
BR = £39.50........cash very much needed!!

Below are my 2 biggest winning hands......thoughts on how I played them appreciated.
BR = £54.24
Plus he always has the goods when he bets pot on river there.

By far the most interesting hand of the session was the one that cost me the most. Oppo is a well known reg (up to them if they wanna give me their thoughts on the hand if they read this). Still not too sure what to make of it.
All other thoughts/advice welcomed.
BR = £47.21

Anyway below are my biggest winning and losing hands of the session.
The oppo in this hand had had a decent stack when I sat down but was quickly spewing to anyone who wanted it, so I was confident a big 3 bet might induce the shove.
BR = £50.03
ok ok the jj hand was me. the more i look at it the more i know i shouldnt have called the turn, it wasnt a snap call btw it was a last second call and i maybe levelled myself too much just because we have a little history from the last time we encountered each other at cash a few months ago.
i do reckon ive played it much worse than you waller and ive got extremely lucky in the end up, i know its no consolation to yourself, but i really do think i should be folding turn more often than i should be calling it
