In Response to Re: 100 MTT Games - Totally Gutted, mucked up in a live MTT : results orientated post imo you have 12 bigs a premium hand and a button raise which could mean anything readless don't beat yourself up you could have doubled up and 1st/2nd a lot better than laddering to 3rd and yes, very tedious when someone is just sitting on a mini-stack but that cannot stop you playing for the win Posted by GELDY
lol was just a bit annoyed when i got home , but looking back the hand play's itself.
It was a results orientated post, i done the right thing shoving, just unlucky i was up against the top of opponents range.
Just caught up on this. VWP taking down an MTT. Testament to you doing the hard work to get there.
RE the live hand there is no way you can call out of your stack. And there is no way you can fold a hand like AQ with 12 big blinds as you may never get a better spot to DU. Its one of those things.... you just have to shove... Thats why poker isnt an exact science. You can do everything youre supposed to do and go out. He could easily have AJ or A10s or JJ, 1010, 99. KQs. Just unlucky to run into kings, thats all.
Testament to you doing the hard work to get there.
Gaz just really been playing them. I still need to get a book on MTT's, would be interesting hearing a top players explanation/ view of how to play a MTT. Also have a look at some vids, if i can find any decent1s
The help in here and the clinic has been brilliant.
HAve spotted some mistakes, biggest ones are;
1) Calling big bets, or re raises with big pocket pairs, like Aces on a K 10 Q board. Or queens on a 457 o/s board. At the low levels, players are never bluffing in these spots, they always have it and am as well just folding
2) Tilting/ getting annoyed making really bad plays/ hitting a time i just play really bad because i don't want to be playing anymore. I've done this in 10% of the mtts since i started this thread.
3) Giving away chips when it's shallow (you told me that!). Don't give away chips so that when you do double up it's more money for when you du.
4) sometimes not aggressive enough.
But it's going well, was just brilliant to take 1 down since i started this thread. Was really sweet as well that it was the orfie, as the standard is the highest in this, versus other any MTT i play.

I think you underestimate how much just simple practice helps. And yes playing a lot of tournaments, posting hand histories, talking with players online is putting in the hard work. Think about the amount of players who play poker and never even think about what theyve done right or wrong.
Youve just listed a number of things youve noticed on how to improve simply by playing on your own accord which is brilliant, and you went and won the orfie - one of the most popular tournaments on the site.
Add that up all together and yes... your hard work is paying off.
I checked sharkscope the other day from when i started this thread, i've played about 50 games and 2 of them were timed tournies, so don't really count. Halfway through

Still a cash and it was a good fun tournie.

Obviously in this scenario I would be wrong.
But, to me a 3.5x on the button would make me think the exact opposite to what you thought.
He could be doing it with AJ, A10, JJ, 10-7's, maybe KQ, KJ. Just unlucky i was up against 1 of the 5 hands that was dominating me pre-flop.

You've been really spot on with your feedback, looking at hand histories talking over situations.
Glad i started this thread, has definatly been worthwhile
How many mtts have you played since starting this diary? Close to the 100 yet?

Was in late tonight, so only got to play some cash on the master cash tables.
Had a brilliant time - it flew in lol ended up playing for about 3 hours.
Sky really need to introduce master cash 2p-4p tables!!
Ended up with a sweet profit, despite been down about £12 early doors with a rediculous all in with AK lol
This is the best hand of the night, knew oppo had a flush, was 90% confident so just open shipped, river is such a blank lol
